When ever im in New York City you can bet money at some point you can find me here. The live music is well worth any fee they are asking.

I base my rating purely on the bartender that was there this past Sunday. Beena(sp?) was so friendly and attentive that it made what would otherwise have been a dreary night a fantastic experience. The wings and mozzarella sticks were decent, but I’d only go back if Beena is bartending.

I have to just say that the band«The Black Soul Experience» saved this place. Was in NYC for NYE and wanted to go somewhere away from Time Square that had a live band(preferably r and B) and food, so of course I searched Unilocal and this place definitely fit the bill. Bought tickets online for $ 20, no big deal, I actually was expecting to pay more than that considering it was NYE. We arrived around 8pm and were seated immediately. Seating is a little tight but I’m starting to think that’s a running theme with most establishments in NYC. Shortly after being seated our«waiter with an attitude, fake smile, and long braids» came over to greet us and ask for drinks. According to the receipt her name is Jocelyn. We ordered buffalo wings, the sante fe burger, Coke and a Brooklyn Lager. She asked if I was sure I wanted buffalo wings because they were a little spicy and suggested the honey barbecue wings because they were a little sweeter. «No sweetie, I asked for buffalo wings, not honey barbecue, I don’t like sweet meat.» The order came out and the wings were fried crispy and a little on the sweet side so I’m wondering if they were buffalo or the ones that she wanted me to order. The burger came out and we weren’t sure what kind of burger it was but it wasn’t sante fe. As a matter of fact it had some kind of cheese on it that wasn’t in the description on the menu. However, the person that ordered it is lactose intolerant and cannot have cheese. When we informed her that the burger was not the sante fe and had cheese on it the waiter had the nerve to inspect it, pick up the butter knife and attempted to scrape the cheese off the burger. Of course we stopped her and told her to just take it back and bring another one. With no apologies she reluctantly took it back. Again, another one came out with cheese on it and no avocado. Then she says«you probably won’t even be able to taste the cheese.» We then told her that because of the lactose intolerant issue that he absolutely cannot have anything with cheese and to please bring another one. She agreed and informed us that she is also lactose intolerant and when she eats dairy she just drinks a gallon of water with it. I’m not even sure why this was a conversation and why we had to explain to her the reasons we ordered what we wanted. Whatever chick. It’s almost as if she brought us what she wanted us to have maybe because she had already taken the food back and it makes her look bad to management. And might I add, after informing management, he didn’t handle the situation any better. Just bring us what we ordered and not what you want us to have. Now she apologizes and also blamed the cook and said that he’s hispanic and doesn’t understnad english. Well if he doesn’t understand anything else I’m sure he understands Sante fe. Finally after waiting about another 20 minutes, an empty plate of buffalo wings, empty drinks and a missing waiter the third burger came out correctly but it was a sloppy mess which had to be eaten in sections with a knife and fork. Now we get another apology along with a free beer. At this point, I think the manager thought about how poorly he handled the situation and told the waiter to tell us that he would remove the burger from the bill. Hilariously, he also told the waiter to tell us to close out our tab because she was leaving for the night. Well that was a lie because she never left he just rotated her to another table to give someone else as equally bad service. NOTE: Gratuity is ALREADY added into the total so don’t tip on top of it if you don’t want to which we made the mistake of doing. When you read the receipt it appears as if the tip is not included. We ended up getting a new waiter, Iesha(I think) who was awesome. Not sure why we had to close our tab though and having 2 different cc transactions in the same night from one place is kind of annoying. Entertainment:If nothing else you have to go here for the band alone. «The Black Soul Experience» will have you dancing all night long. The guiatar player(his name escapes me) plays his instrument with different parts of his body. Now that’s talent. And the keyboard player Yason is a little cutie. Also, the guy(rapper/singer) that performed the reggae set was awesome. I believe he was a guest star with the band but he needs to be added to the band’s roster. He had the place turned all the way up. This band rocks. In my opinion the service here almost sucks, the bathroom is small and reeks of urine with no hand dryer or paper towels, the food was mediocre at best, drinks(whiskey sour) was good and the band killed it. I’m not sure if I’m a glutton for punishment or what but when I’m in New York again I would definitely come back but not on an empty stomach and only if The Black Soul Experience is playing.

Let’s start with the Ambiance of the place. 1. This lil gem in the west village is cozy, comfortable and good for groups. 2. Staff — The staff here is very pleasant and inviting. They make you feel like 1 of the family. 3. Food — This is has to be one of the best bar food menu’s in NYC. Just the right amount of choices. Finally…4 Music — My favorite night is Sunday. You will not be disappointed with the house band. I had to get out of my seat and boogie on several occasions. You will enjoy every minute of your stay here… See ya’ll on Sunday.

great food and strong drinks! this place is awesomeeee. i stopped by over the weekend and it was popping. the bartender provided impeccable service! i was waiting patiently to order drinks while someone tried to blatantly skip me. but the bartender knew wassup and gave me her full attention. i ordered an old-fashioned and told her not to make it too fruity. she definitely knew what she was doing. i came back to order a 2nd round and she knew what i wanted! if you want great service, hit up the hot asian bartender i think her name was beena? she’ll def take care of you. in term of ambiance, place was packed with mixed crowd and was awesome. great for dates or a big group. my friends and i had a good time here. i’ll def hit this venue up once i come back to nyc!

I finally have the chance to leave a review! Okay! I came here on a Saturday night and there were a decent amount of people there. I went with a date as we were able to get a table. I didn’t know what to expect because it was my first time at a joint like this. My oh my. I fucking LOVED it. The music set the tone for the rest of the night for me. Amazing & funny entertainers, great drinks, and the waitress was so nice and face me a plate of cherries ;-) I definitely have to visit again, there’s no way that I won’t come back here. Loved it. Recommended.

Loved the happy hour. They have $ 4 sangria, vodka and much more. They have some food portions for the same price as well. It’s from 5:00 to 8:00 everyday. The place has great chips and salsa too.

negative stars. the bartender was beyond terrible, nasty, and rude. young girl with reddish hair. We visited on Nov 14, around 7:30pm. Disgusting service. the bouncer was very friendly though.

Came here on Halloween and had an amazing time! There was a cover charge, not too much being that it was a halloween night. The music great, a lot of variety and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The drinks were regular NYC pricing and weren’t watered down. I noticed they have food options but I was too busy drinking and dancing to take a look, maybe next time. Great place to settle in for a good time… Groove see you soon!

Our first stop on Halloween. $ 10-$ 15 cover charge depending on what time of night you got there. It was also $ 12 for one rum and coke on top of that! We wished we had started our night off elsewhere as it was rather annoying in there.

I’ve had the pleasure to go this spot three times and picked the nights that Li’nards Band would be playing. I just love them as they play real MOTOWNMUSIC and other types for their audiences. My last visit was on October 8th. My friend enjoyed the music as I did also. I have made this my new spot to groove.

Really wanted to rate this higher because I was having a great day when I went here. But unfortunately the service and attitude of our server(redhead named ruby) makes it impossible. First the positives: The drinks(and bartender) were great. The drinks were strong and tasted good. Had the mozzarella sticks and wings. Very good. Other servers seemed friendly and personable. However, the service was severly lacking. Server Ruby took forever. I asked for water twice and then had to get it myself from the bar when it never came. She saw me when I went to the bar and she said«what’s up?» I stated«I’m getting the water.» She nodded and turned away. No apology, nothing. It took another decade to get the check and when it came she had added 15% to it.

Stopped in for the first time last Sunday when«Black Soul» was performing. They were an awesome group, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. We were a bit skeptical as we went to Blue Note(didn’t enjoy it) a few weeks ago, and we weren’t sure what to expect of this place. The vibe was very relaxing, the staff was nice(for the most part), and the band was great. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because the food wasn’t anything to rave about(we had nachos, veggie wrap, and a falafel platter) – and our waitress had a bit of an attitude. She said she wasn’t feeling well, so it’s a bit forgivable… But it was a downer most of the evening since she didn’t tell us this until we were leaving. Overall it was a very good time, and we’ll probably be back. Oh yeah, like most NYC bars, the drink prices are a bit high, especially for the size of the glasses.

Really liked everything about this place. If there is anything I would eat here it would be the wings. Lol even tho I have not try any of the food items. The live music here is great! Almost everyone that plays here have really a really good sound. This place is drama free, it’s fun and you can get your dance on. Definitely coming back for some more.

I’ve been here maybe 3 times and heard some good live music on Friday and Saturday evenings and its always a good time. I have also come here just to grab drinks before getting the night started. The 007 martini is always a good choice and goes down well as it includes 7UP&OJ along with vodka. Buffalo wings are pretty good here as well. Servers are usually cool and conversational here. This is indeed one of those places you can go to solo and end up having multiple conversations with strangers which is usually pretty cool in NY. Definitely a good spot in the Village.

What a fun bar with live music! I really enjoyed Groove and Silvana when I visited NYC. Like the name suggests — they play groove, soul, and jazz. The performers and singers were very talented and they kept the audience lively. Our server was also friendly and giving us tips on what to do in NYC. He made an amazing rum cocktail! I only needed one… I can see this being a really fun happy hour spot or a bar to meet up before going out on the town!

After a delicious Italian meal at a nearby restaurant, we headed to this live music venue. It was a blast! It was a very diverse crowd and fun vibe. There was an awesome African American band playing a number of classic rock and retro hits that night. If I had more energy after landing in NY that evening and eating a large pasta meal, I would have absolutely been on the dance floor. Service was pretty good. I enjoyed one too many vodka sodas. That made it a little difficult to head up and down the stairs to the bathroom. Next time I plan to have fewer drinks and actually get on the dance floor.
