Loud, crowded and fun! Have a few small plates of everything. Wash it all down with some tequila. Repeat.

Stopped by after work desperately in need of a quick margarita. Bar was empty except for a couple of guys at the end. Bartender made no eye contact, spoke not a word.(Hmmm I wonder why that bar is empty). Made and served the drink with that toxic combination of indifference and contempt. I got out as fast as I could. Paid the 14 dollar check with a 20. He gives me change of a 5 and a 1. Meaning he’s an idiot, who only expects a 1 dollar tip or an A-hole trying to force me to tip him 5. I vote idiotic A-hole

Four stars makes complete sense. Guacamole and chips were incredible. Lobster tacos were awesome. I would definitely bring the team here for dinner. Open a location in Boston please.

Great rustic atmosphere. Bartender is really into making cocktails and very authentic feel. Just one serious mezcal cocktail made me high.

Haven’t even got to the meal yet. I cannot even talk to the people at my table of 3 without screaming. The acoustics here are the worst and the music makes it even worse. The owners should know how FREAKINGEASY it is to add stuff under the tables and chairs and on the ceiling to fix it.

Overall, this place is great! From the decoration, drinks, food, and service! My friends and i come here late at night for drinks and fun but a few weeks ago we came here for the $ 40 brunch. Unlimited drinks and FOOD!!! the food was over the top amazing!!! We’re Mexican so we know good Mexican food when we taste it. The plates are very small but you can order as many as you want which is what we did! We ranked the food we liked best and I think they all tied in 1st place, ha!!! The drinks are good as well! Especially the sangria. We will def. be coming back for more! Keep up the great work! P.s We’re still talking about how great the torta was!

We tried the all-you-can-eat brunch for $ 20(you can add unlimited drinks for a total of $ 40) per person. The service was fast and friendly; the dishes were well-seasoned and the portions were reasonable for the price. They call the servings small, but they’re medium. Still, 4 – 6 shared dishes are the perfect amount of food for two people. Ironically the Pat La Frieda slider/burger and the French toast were our favorite although they’re not really Mexican. A little annoying that the refill on my iced tea was another $ 2.75. I’ve been once for dinner and once for brunch. Nothing outstanding that would bring me back unless I was already in the neighborhood.

They were able to seat our group of 9 on the fly at 9 pm on a Friday night. Which was immediately surprising. The margaritas were good and strong and came out quickly. The service was fine and the staff was knowledgable. But the food was NOT good and the portions were so so so small. This place is extremely expensive for what you get. I unfortunately won’t keep this in the rotation.

Un poquito lento. Ok the queso fundido= Rico w the poblanos, it. s ur Mexican raclette fondue. The madre Cornish hen was Excellent. The hen itself was perfectly perfectly cooked. I devoured it like a hungry medieval hunter. Didn’t shy away from licking every bone. It was riiiiiico. The sauce itself wasn’t my «madre’s». It lacked in depth. But I got distracted w the hen. I give that hen 10 stars. Get the hen!

We had a great dining experience on Saturday night, celebrating our sister’s 50th birthday. Our party of five arrived for our 6:30 reservation and were seated immediately. The ambience was fun and lively, but not too loud. We were pleasantly surprised that it was still happy hour(until 7pm) and ordered our drinks and appetizers from the happy hour menu. The margaritas were perfect. I loved the Margarita de Tamarindo, lightly rimmed with chili pepper. The guacamole was delicious: very fresh and served with hearty chips that didn’t break when you try to scoop up some of the green goodness. We also ordered the queso fundido, one with the poblano peppers, the other with the chorizo. Both were excellent and a favorite for the group. For dinner we ordered a few plates to share: The Barbacoa, Carnitas Michoacanas and the Mar y Tierra. Everything was delicious!

I had a great dinner there tonight. The cocktails were exceptional as was the queso. We had someone with dietary restrictions, but the waitress and kitchen were very accommodating. The service was very solid and the tacos were pretty impressive. Definitely going back!

I visited Hecho as part of a collective dining experience where a group of us got together and tried several dishes selected by Chef Danny Mena. It will be tough for me to speak to the service because we were a large group in a private room. It was slow but it was essentially a chef’s table for 15 people so that’s totally normal. I loved how passionate the chef was about his food and his process. I think one of the main things I will remember about this place is that you can tell a lot of heart was put into the creation of the restaurant and every dish. Each dish had a story. It was remarkable. As for the dishes I loved: the queso(and the tortillas that came with it, the ceviche, and the flan for dessert. I am not a huge margarita fan but their margaritas were stellar. I also loved that when I said I wasn’t a margarita lover the bartender asked me what kind of cocktails I like and recommended a margarita I would enjoy. If I can make a suggestion to any business owner it’s to find great bartenders. A perfect drink accompaniment can mean the difference between a good and great experience. Also, ambiance is great. It’s Bowery meets Mexico City. Cool.

5 stars for the food, but 1 star off for the server who seemed impatient and looked at us as aliens. The cocktails and food all have their unique and strong flavor. I loved it all! The spicy grapefruit margarita was delish and this other cocktail that tasted like a Bloody Mary and came with a side of beer that you could refill your drink — a weird combo but the flavored worked. The guacamole is awesome and a must! The crab on corn masa was okay(wouldn’t get again) as was the chile relleno(wouldn’t get again). The ceviche was excellent! The octopus was also great. I loved the fish entrée and pork entrée. The seafood entrée was also pretty awesome. Again, all of these had different and amazing flavors. Loved!

Hands down, favorite Mexican restaurant in New York(so far). Don’t be fooled by the small space and bland décor, which boasts a Dia de Los Muertes shrine in October, Hecho en Dumbo’s menu features a wide selection of creatively concocted dishes and variety of margaritas that range from traditional or ultra-spicy. The plates are small, so I’d recommend ordering several to share with your guests, but are they delicious! I would rate each dishes on the more gourmets side of Mexican, but each entrée and appetizer packs on the flavor. My favorites? The steak burritas(finely shredded steak wrapped in tortilla) — my mouth is watering just thinking about it! I would also recommend getting the tacos, which are three for $ 14 and available in tons of iterations such as chile rellenos and mixed seafood.

Hecho en Dumbo is my favorite mexican food restaurant. Chef Danny Mena is a culinary genius. The flavors are eclectic, nuanced and complex. Go to Hecho en Dumbo for the best guacamole, tostadas de ceviche, Queso Fundido, Costra de Res and Margaritas. Also order the Pastel Imposible, a vanilla flan with a caramel glaze upon a layer of Mexican chocolate cake.

Five stars for one of the best Mexican joints in town. This coming from a Mexican who’s lived in Mexico, so bes’ believe it! Overall an amazing experience, from the music, to the drinks, to the flavorful menu items, to the outstanding service, to the aesthetics. Offers: –Happy Hour EVERY damn day(I think) which is spectacular. –Probably the best Michelada’s in the Northeast,(Michelada Cubana: includes Jugo Maggi and Valentina. Margaritas are on point as well.) –Authentically authentic Mexican cuisine; including Cochinita Pibil which is RARE to find. Will def-def-definitely return. Keep doin’ you, Hecho

Due to our busy schedules of work, travel, family obligations, etc., somehow my best friend and I hadn’t seen each other since the early fall until this past wkend. I had purchased a Gilt City deal for Hecho en Dumbo after hearing positive things about it, and Adrienne and I met up for brunch and girly catch-up. I also was finally able to give her the birthday present that had been sitting at home collecting dust for months – her birthday is in mid-October. Hecho en Dumbo is not actually in Dumbo, however their Mexican fare was featured at the late, great Dumbo General Store; I used to love the coffee there! The interior of the restaurant has that repurposed warehouse vibe that is ubiquitous in Dumbo. This is not a complaint. It was comfortable and the staff was very friendly, encouraging me to take our table a bit early since it was too frigid out to mill around plus I had a cold. The Gilt deal included a brunch entrée, special, or plate of tacos plus a beverage(including brunch cocktails) for two people for only $ 25. This was a very good deal, especially given the quality of the food. In the mood for beef, I ordered the short rib tacos. The portion was enormous with four tacos(quite tasty, though some of the meat was a bit fatty so I kicked it to the side of the plate with my fork – no big deal), a bowl of delightful beans with a wedge of cheese, and a selection of zesty salsas. Adrienne seemed pleased with her ricotta pancakes with strawberries and bacon. I rarely come down to the LES but I would certainly return to Hecho en Dumbo with or without a voucher. I would love to return at night for dinner and tequila.

When brunching, I very often tend toward the Eggs Benedict and the Bloody Mary. Really, I eat and drink these items so often that I’ve thought about creating a foodie blog for them(«Bennies and Bloodies». It would have a cute name, limited subject matter, and low readership.). I have eaten so many of these that you think you’ve tried any and all delicious variations and you will never again be surprised. Enter Hecho en Dumbo. We stopped in at Hecho(scandalously located in the East Village, NOT Dumbo) this past Sunday before the games. We had a Gilt City deal which enabled us to each receive one entrée and one drink for a grand total of $ 35. As we both ended up getting the exact same items, I couldn’t tell you a thing about the rest of the menu, but I can tell you about the awesomeness of the Huevos Rancheros Benedictos(«Poached eggs laden in a Hollandaise salsa ranchera and nested upon corn biscuits with house smoked ham») and the Bloody Maria. The dish combined two excellent breakfast dishes and added oh-so-savory, flavorful meat and a biscuit base that made the meal extra unique. And together, the Hollandaise and the salsa ranchera created a rich, just-spicy-enough sauce. The Bloody Maria was made with tequila, hence the name, and was super spicy and peppery but delicious. One of these was enough for the entire meal, since we had to take tiny sips due to the overwhelming flavors. The space was very sparse and clean — lots of exposed brick. I might’ve added a decoration or two, but that’s just me. I would definitely come back to try dinner. Even though I’m not super into Mexican, Hecho en Dumbo has more than piqued my interest in its take on the cuisine.

I’m not sure why there isn’t a line outside trying to get into this place. So they have a sign out front, Happy Hour 5−7pm. To me? That’s the bat signal in my world. I want to go to cool places and never wait to be seated. The trick is to brute force your way into a cool place the second they open. Well, I’m here at 4:55 and the doors are locked. I’m reading the menu and the food sounds awesome. If you think Mexican food is Taco Truck food, you are sadly mistaken. Mexican food is elegant. It can also be fun, handheld food and fun is what I want on a Friday night before I have to work on the weekend Honey-do list. So its happy hour, lets talk about my happiness. I start with a Margarita. The bartender suggests the«Pantera Rose» that’s made with a house infused Chile Serrano. sooo good! Now, I’m a middle aged man. I can handle a few drinks. So I have my kick azz margarita and I also order a Michelada as well as a side of Guac and chips to get this party started. Maybe I had only coffee for lunch, maybe the drink was so good that I drank it fast, there are a lot of maybes but the one drink is starting to get me buzzed.(I’m cutting myself off after one drink!) The home made guac and chips come out and happy is what I’m feeling. So now, I’m buzzed, full and I’m looking around. This is a cool looking spot with a big bar and large dining area. Looks are deceiving from the outside. *Hidden Secret — I see in the back, there is a special chefs table that anyone can sit? That would be fun for my family to do. Noted for next time!

Super endroit pour de la bouffe mexicaine. Les drinks sont solides, les plats sont bons, c’est pas mal du tout. Je recommande. Y suis allé au moins 3 – 4 fois d’affilé et c’était toujours top.
