went here for the first time a month ago, had a pretty good time. I’m the type who can go anywhere and enjoy so that wasn’t hard for me. My friends left after awhile, but then after 2 other spots came back. Pros: good mix of music, diverse crowd(you’ll find whatever your type is). Cons: $ 10 cover, $ 12 kinda weak drinks, can get crowded where it was hard for me to dance. Everything was pretty chill though, i suggest pre-gaming(hard enough to be drunk, not to the point you wont get let in)

This place is a horrible lesbian bar went here with a friend. I am not a lesbian but who cares I have friends who are. They expected a 10 dollar cover… the woman here are so ugly not friendly and can’t even crack a smile. Watch your purse in this place it’s totally ghetto… Smells like piss and is disgusting. Avoid it unless you like fat slobs everyone who was at this place needed Jenny Craig, weight watchers the gym or something…

So I’ve been here a few times on less crowded nights; Wed, Thursday and I had a blast all three times but this Saturday I went and it was crowded,(which I loved and was excited to see all of the pretty ladies) but I have some complaints and the 1st is that I found the bartenders to be inattentive and flat out rude and the drinks were too pricey. Overall the music is good and the ladies are beautiful, but the drinks are way too expensive and that 10 dollar cover charge on weekends is ridiculous. My advice is to drop the cover charge and make the drinks cheaper.

Drinks a little pricey but it’s NYC so $ 12 maybe standard here. Love the diversity and the range of music played. Not my first time visiting and won’t be my last.

Yesterday I attended this bar, Henrietta, and it was not my first time there :/A group of my girlfriends(lesbians) were celebrating one of our girlfriends accomplishments/career success. My partner and I just came out of a Broadway play and we were driving over. Parked the car as were walking towards this location our girl who invited us was outside with one of her girl friends and we were hugging and chatting. My girl tells us to go in and as we walk in the bouncer and whoever was with her, manager, were outside and told us, we have to pay the cover charge($ 10) so we said not a problem; but then they wouldn’t take our money because they asked us who we were there with! Commonsense the girls that we were talking to outside plus we had a group of girls inside, I’ve never witnessed discrimination in any place because of my sexual preference or because of my gender and this is the first time I witnessed discrimination for being a man so that’s why I give this place a 1 because of their ignorance and not living in the in the now!

I think I was overly excited to come to this place and my expectations caused me to be a little disappointed. So extra star for Henrietta because that is my fault, not the bars. I came here on a special event night and paid a cover, which I am fine with only for lesbian and gay places. Luckily I consider this kind of thing a donation because if not, I would have been pretty PO-ed. The dance floor was packed(what little of it there was). I tried to squeeze though just to see the place but I was only able to get about half way through. I finally just gave up and took my spot as a wallflower near the bar area. This is the perfect kind of bar to come to, if you area already a part of a couple. The crowd is very cliquish which is the exact opposite of what I am used to in other lesbian bars. But even Henrietta’s took it to a new level. I took a seat once, only to get the«stand up» command from some other girl who apparently owned the seat and didn’t think I spoke English but understood hang gestures only.(The upside is my dog will be very excited we learned the«stand» hand motion at the same time.) The drinks were decently priced for Manhattan, which I was happy about. In all, I was looking to mingle, but the crowd was mostly couples and cliques so no real reception to that. I’d advise Ginger’s or mixed bars if you are looking to be social. I might come back on a regular, non holiday night to see if the crowd is any different.

A really fantastic place to make new friends or hang out with old ones. I love coming here after work and grabbing a drink with their friendly bartenders or turning up on the weekend with their badass DJs. SOMUCHBIGGER than cubbyhole, and a whole lot friendlier too. Takes credit card, and very dedicated to lesbian nightlife instead of mixing lesbian and gay lifestyle. I love my gays but sometimes I just need a place with the ladies! So glad I’ve been coming here. Came sporadically over the years, but am now a loyal regular.

I went here for a friends birthday party. I’m straight but bent as a hairpin in other ways. I had a blast here. An absolute blast. If I had one tiny complaint it is that the beer selection is a little limited, but I am used to places that have way too many beers on tap so that may not be valid. Everybody was cool, drinks were great, never felt like I was out of place. Music was awesome, really great time.

I have a love and hate relationship with this place. I’ve been coming here for years because it’s the last women’s bar standing. I try to support but there are times that I am really mad at myself for trying. Let’s see, came here on a Saturday night. My friends and I paid the ridiculous cover of $ 10. They still charge because we still pay! The place was packed, maybe too packed to enjoy myself. The DJ sucked! Really, really sucked. She was playing some weird, almost jungle music that no one was dancing to. When your spot is packed, this is the time to play to the masses! I left 40 minutes later. Money wasted. Let’s see, came here on a Thursday night at the end of my bar hopping. It wasn’t that crowded. The DJ was okay. She played songs to make you dance but there wasn’t any consistency. One song POP, next song REGGAE, next song HIPHOP, etc. That’s not cool, Ms. DJ! I’ve been here after work for drinks which is hit or miss. Sometimes a nice crowd, sometimes you and the bartender. The women are older but that’s because they’ve been coming here for 20+ years. I will return. I have to support. I hope that they do something to improve the other posters’ reviews. But I must say, like a previous reviewer, I definitely have more fun at the boys’ bars!

I was there tonight, at the suggestion of my best friend. I have been here before, including during Pride 2015. I’ve never had a problem here and always considered the crowd and staff very friendly, but on this night, something changed. I think it was the bartender DOT, who was a problem, and can’t do more than one thing at a time, even when the crowd is at a small capacity. Long story short, I paid for two drinks, and after my guest and I left this so called bartender acted as if, I hadn’t paid, which was a lie. So because my friend was a regular she paid for drinks that were already paid for. During our time there, DOT had several straight drinks to make for customers, one customer ordered shots of tequila and 10 to 15 minutes later straight Jameson for a party of eight. The lady that ordered the Jameson had flowers, they were celebrating a birthday, and obviously she couldn’t keep up with the customers. I called her and told her ass off, she proceeded to stand by her story that I hadn’t paid. She said that they watched the video tape. Bullshit!!! SHEIS A LIAR!!! I am banned from this establishment, but its cool, I’m straight but even if I was gay, I would never go here again because this place SUCKS!!! but because there aren’t many gay bars for women in the area, they will survive. Watch your money and watch who makes your drinks and please get a receipt. Its the only way that you will be able to prove the lies that this place is shoveling just like shit. Be careful and please find someplace else to go.

This place gets CROWDED on the weekends, and unless you’re in the market for a bunch of lesbians(and friends/family of lesbians, no judgements here!) knocking into you while you dance, it’s not necessarily worth paying the cover. They’re cash only, which is an antiquated concept to me. I almost never have cash on me or carry cash in quantities to support a cover to get in and moderately priced smallish drinks. The music is pretty much always great, and whenever a lull comes up, it’s time to hit the bar for another drink. I always go to the bar in the back because that’s more of a ‘grab your drink and go’ as opposed to the front bar which is ‘sit here and people watch’ which makes it difficult to get in and get the bartender’s attention. They also started to have a table in the middle room for bottles of water and select cans of beer, which is really smart. That way, if you just want something simple — you go to the middle table. Good call on that, Henrietta’s!

I’ve been coming to Henrietta Hudson’s on/off since the late 90s(even celebrated NYE ’98 there), and remember when it was one of *the* lesbian bars to go to… now it’s pretty much past its prime. Firstly, it’s usually dead as a doornail during weekdays; weekends can be packed, but you pay a bit for the privilege to hang there. It’s a $ 10 cover charge to get in, an extra $ 3 to put your coat in the coat room, and then you pay through the nose for one of their overpriced cocktails. They’re even a bit expensive during happy hours. The bar is not the most upscale place in Manhattan, so I am not sure what’s with the nickel and dime tactics. Secondly — The demographic of the crowd is… aging and the music is meh most of the time(though there are moments where the DJ would play a good song). HH used to be really strict about letting males(even gay ones) in, but I’ve been seeing straight couples in there the last couple of times I’ve dropped by(No offense, but there’s a million places where straight people can hang, why choose a lesbian bar?). Currently, HH is the last standing dyke bar in Manhattan and it’s still held up through all the demographic changes and rising rents. I had a blast there during my youth, and it’s a bit disappointing to hear that the twenty somethings of today are not having a similar experience. I am not sure what the future holds for HH, but I do hope they stand the test of time and becomes the wonderfully fun place it once was.

The first time I came here with a bunch of friends, the DJ was awesome, the music was great, we danced(not a lot of others really were out and about so we danced ourselves and had the floor to ourselves almost), enjoyed the cage they had and even the stripper pole. Yesterday I went again for the Pride Parade Party. Cover was $ 10, not bad. Vodka and seltzers were $ 9 each(to be expected but still ouch). The DJ was great and really into it but after a while, the music became meh. The dance floor was pretty quiet at first but quickly filled up to the point of claustrophobia. The bathroom line stuck out into the dance floor!!! I accidentally skipped it not even realizing there was a line(I’m really sorry ladies!!!). The bathrooms were pretty clean however, which is a perk. When we exited to catch our breaths, we turned around and saw the door was flooded so didn’t even bother to try and get back in. It’s a nice bar and it can be a lot of fun. I’d definitely return still. I still enjoy myself when I’m there.

Yeah, solidly A-OK. I’ve had some great times here and I’ve had some truly horrible nights. The bouncers are hit and miss. Make sure you bring your ID and get there before you have to pay the cover. It’s a great place to drink, play pool for a while and then dance. I guess my biggest gripe with the place has to do with the attitude of the bartenders and bouncers… just kinda crotchety… and kind of have a corner on the market because they’re one of the only dedicated places for ladies. Go with friends and bring your own group of people and you’ll be aight. They also have deals/discounts on their page for cheap/free entry so do that. Don’t pay the ridiculous cover… this aint no Meatpacking/Chelsea/High class nightclub!(Yeah…I see what I did there)

Was supposed to come here with my friend but ended up going myself. It just so happened to be single’s night the night before Valentine’s Day. It was my first time here so wanted to see if this would be my new go to spot with some friends. I’m from Jersey so I drove here around 11ish at night. Parked about two blocks away which wasn’t too bad, had a little bit of a hard time finding the place though. Anyway, got in and they checked my ID and paid the $ 10, coat check is another $ 3. They were giving tickets for a free shot? But this was some fruity thing, I don’t even know what it was, I just gave mine to someone else. The crowd here is older. I’m 22 so I didn’t really find anyone my age. I sat by the bar and had a beer, it was $ 6 which is to be expected in the city. There were a bunch of people dancing, but there were more people just standing around or sitting by the bar. It got pretty crowded at around 12. There were also go go dancers that went up twice, they were really into it and so were a lot of the girls lol… I’ve never seen anything like it before so that was interesting. I’m not really sure how I feel about this place just yet. I mean it’s a cool little spot but could be better. Wish there were more younger people here that I could’ve socialized with so if you’re around my age, I would say bring a group of friends or something.

I’ve lived in New York since 1997 and have seen the tail end of the heyday of the queer club scene come and go. Henrietta’s was one of my first pit stops and introduction to the lesbian scene. I stopped going when I moved to Brooklyn but decided on a whim to check it out on Valentine’s Day. Wish I stayed home. Very very disappointing. The bartender wasn’t even sure how much to charge me for a whiskey soda so after hemming and hawing she arbitrarily said«$ 10». Oooookay. The pool table cost $ 2 and not only was the size of a Fisher Price kiddie table but the felt looked 20 years old and I swear the cue ball was… actually…covered…in…mold. The DJ was spinning some deep house tracks so I figured I’d shake some booty. By this point it was around 11:30 pm. Tried for an hour to dance BYMYSELF but it was like being amongst the Walking Dead – despite there being a crowd. All the dykes were way too busy standing around looking too cool for school and detached(read: BORING) so I finally gave up and fled for the gay boy bars on Christopher Street, where between Monster, Stonewall and the Duplex I had me a gay old time! I give Henrietta’s 2 stars just for sheer staying power, but I wish it were Clit Club that had stuck around. This sh*t was BANANAS, and NOT in a good way. Never going back. At least the boys still know how to have a good time… wake the f*** up, ladies!!! Good god, I swear I’ve never been surrounded by so much apathy(except maybe in Sunday school). Oh, two really gorgeous femmes went in around 11:00 and then ten minutes later walked right out again. I was smoking and they stopped to ask me where there was another lesbian dance club. Poor girls, it was clear from their accents that they were visiting from Europe(Amsterdam? Germany?) and had expected something… more. I pointed them to Sheridan Square and also mentioned Cubbyhole, but I felt bad for them. Other than the smattering of «ladies nights» that take over straight or gay boy bars during the week, truly there is no such thing as a dedicated lesbian dance club any longer. That ship sailed decades ago and it ain’t coming back. Henrietta’s may flaunt itself as one of the longest running lesbian dance clubs in NYC, but here’s the thing: you’re supposed to actually dance and be surrounded by other people who want to dance, right? Otherwise you’re just an old, crusty pick up joint for women who care way too much about appearances and way too less about having fun. F-U-N. Oh. Please get a bloody regulation size pool table too… or at the very least change the felt and for f***‘s sake clean those balls!!! $ 2 to shoot on that monstrosity of a table is highway robbery. Been to many a dank, urine-drenched dive bar with far better(and cheaper) pool.

Finally! I’ve wanted to go to this place for years! I was in NYCMLK weekend, and went with a couple of friends. We got there around 9 on a Saturday, and didn’t have to pay cover. Before the DJ comes on(around 11pm), it feels like any other hole in the wall bar. Once the DJ comes on, the vibe transforms. The space is tiny, and it gets really packed! It’s awesome though. great music, friendly people and overall a good time. Oh and I’m basically straight and still had a great time. Recommended for all. though I didn’t see any boys.
