Jack’s Computer & Portable Device Service Center

Walked in there. Small shop. No wait. Took out my computer (Dell N5010) and showed how it wasn’t loading up after it was dropped. The lady briefly looked at it and said it I would have to leave it for diagnostics which would cost $ 35 & would take about 5 – 6 days to fix. I walked right out. I’m no computer techie but I know no computer takes a week to fix (which indicated to me that they’re slow) nor did I have the time or luxury to give into a «maybe it’ll be fixable but first give us money before we fix it or know what’s wrong» type of scenario. No, thank you.
And I don’t who Jack is but this is a tiny shop run by Asians.

This is a hidden gem. I found this place after doing a search on Unilocal.
I’ve owned the same ipod since 2006. I don’t need all of the fancy bells and whistles. Unlike some people, I don’t need ²⁴⁄₇ Internet access or the latest Apps. All I want is an ipod to listen to while I go for long walks or workout. They don’t even sell the ipod that I own anymore. I’m not familiar with the newer products like the ipad and the iphone.
One day, the screen on my ipod spontaneously turned whitish-​gray. I tried googling solutions to the problem, but they were to no avail. Out of desperation, I took my ipod here. I paid about $ 50 and the repair took an hour. Having my ipod repaired was much cheaper than buying an iPhone. I rarely give 5’s, but Jack’s earned it.

I’ve been walking around with a watch in my pocket for weeks with the goal of having a few links removed. Due to other priorities, I just kept missing the opportunity to get it done. I was prepared to pay $ 25, at least that’s what the last shop that I contacted on the phone quoted me. It’s 10 pm and I’m standing in front of this shop making a call and notice the neon watch repair sign and what looks like people inside still working. Hat the heck, I’ll give it a try. I go in, request links be removed and walk out 5 minutes later with a perfectly fitting watch and only $ 5 less in my pocket. WINNING!
Seems like the true focus of this shop is computer and iPhone repairs. I’d be willing to give them a try for that too.

Did a good job of replacing the shattered screen on my iphone. $ 85 and out within an hour.

Great service. repaired my shattered iphone 4 screen and threw in a pack of screen protectors too since it took them a bit longer than they initially stated. Only $ 80 way less than the $ 200 Apple wanted to charge me. Good customer service. very nice.

Husband and wife team, very friendly small business. The husband, Jack, is the guy who fix broken computer and portable devices. Very small store space, and they are always very busy as you can see stack of broken computer on the shelves behind the counter waiting to be fixed. Because they do all the work themselves, it took about 2 weeks for them to get to my computer.
Jack fixed my computer at an affordable price, and I’m very happy with that as I was prepared to give it up and spend thousands of dollar to buy a new one. I’m so happy with their service that I send my partner’s laptop there to be fixed, and he was happy with the result.

Despite a recent news article talking about the amazing ability of an iPhone surviving a 1000 foot drop unharmed, the screen on MY iphone shattered in pieces from a mere 4 foot drop from my pocket. The phone was entirely functional, but the crack propagation was more than pronounced, and the micro glass splinters in my fingers were really only so appealing.
I heard about Jack’s from a friend, so I decided to check them out while I was waiting on my rather late Genius bar appointment. Yes, Jack fixes iPhones with really no problem at all. He can do it while you wait, and even show you how it is done, in particular pointing out what lies beneath the screen and how it differs between the iPhone 3 and the iPhone 4 (so you can’t just use the parts from your old phone for example). For a cracked phone, he can make it look like new for $ 125, a savings over a $ 199 total replacement cost. I appreciated his kindness and patience and said I would see what the folks at the Genius bar said, and make the decision accordingly. I received no pressure; he was great. Ultimately, the Genius bar was going to make me replace the phone entirely, as they do not repair cracked screens. However, they graciously exchanged out my phone for free, so I did not need to follow up with Jack after all. It is still good to know that he can provide this service, hence the review.
And according to his business card, he also does Mac/​PC repairs, laptop repairs, iPod/​iPhone/​Zune/​PSP repairs, on site service, video transfer service, and even watch repairs. A Jack of all trades if you will.
