Lots of fun. Great bartenders. 2 pool tables. Decent food. Good time!

Couldn’t be less pretentious — this place knows it’s about good bar food and cheap beer, and doesn’t pretend to be anything else! Good rotating drink specials, and a nice platter of fried«everything in the kitchen.» Bartenders friendly too.

Stopped by here on a couple of random occasions, this place is A-OK to me for anything last minute, for example a last minute happy hour get together with family or friends, last minute change of plans that didn’t go through or even a wait in here and have one drink while you wait for the rest of your party to go to your actual destination. Happy Hour ends late which is a huge plus for those who get out of work later than usual. Other than that, this place is really just A-OK.

Stopped in for a lunch special. Ordered a chicken sandwich for $ 7.50. Bartender: would you like fries? Me: are they included? Her: yes. Me: okay! Get the bill. It’s $ 10. Me: It says it’s $ 7.50 Her: the fries are extra. Love a good bait and switch.

I tend to dole out fairly consistent 3-star reviews to pretty much all the dive bars I go to, since they’re actually all the same. But in this case I feel like the ambiance and the décor was just too lackluster to be worth anything more than 2 stars. I mean, they have the usual set of beers, whiskeys, and bar food, but the basement atmosphere without any kind of redeeming quality is depressing.

Arrived 10 minutes into a USA World Cup match and found a packed bar. Fortunately a few folks left around 15 minuets later and my friends and I packed in. Our bartender was Alex, who seemed to be a crowd favorite, and justifiably so: super attentive and friendly! The bar(roughly 40 feet in length!) was packed 2 – 3 people deep and he still found time to remember my name and check in plenty of times. Cheap pitchers of Sam Adams Summer(17 $, so NY cheap, not CHEAP cheap) kept us going. More importantly this place has seasoned waffle fries, which were simply amazing. Best of all the acoustics of this place’s basement digs combined with an energetic crowd led to an awesome vibe during the match. If you’re looking for a friendly place to watch a game or just hang out, come here. If you are familiar with How I Met Your Mother it has a distinct MacLaren’s vibe.

This is my favorite bar in NYC. It has such a homey feel to it, except on weekend nights when NYU takes over, but it’s still cool. The drinks are great and cheap, especially during Happy hour. Best part of happy hour are the $ 5 wings!!! GOD, THESEWINGSAREDELICIOUS. Alex, the bartender, is awesome and once he gets to know you he hooks you up with free shots, drinks. The jukebox has a great selection of music. Even though it might get crowded sometimes the people are still really cool. Even the bouncer is a cool ass dude. This is a bar that once you become a regular they take care of you and they actually remember you. Has two pool tables, darts, and great drink specials. To my HIMYM fans, it reminds me a lot of MacLaren’s. :-)(maybe that’s why I love it so much…)

First of all I love bars that are downstairs in the basement. It just seems right. You want your bar to be a little dark and questionable and walking down stairs gives you that initial feel. The bouncer is serious but I guess that’s the location. Then the doors open and its a well lit(but not too much) sports bar serving delicious smelling nosh and showing the latest game of well college basketball on that Saturday night. There are quarter pool tables that you can play on and darts. A classic establishment. The music is totally random. It went from a rock song, to Boyz II Men, to some random 80’s song.

Overcrowded and dirty. Terrible music every time I come here. Bouncer tried to confiscate my pals ID because he thought he was underage and tried to charge him $ 10 to let him in.(He’s 23) Not a surprise since the bouncer is used to underage kids with no ids coming in every weekend.

Two words: Dive Bar Went during happy hour on Saturday which ended at 10PM but as long as you gave the waiter, your order before 10PM, they’ll charge you happy hour prices no matter how large your order was. Pitchers were between $ 10-$ 16 depending on the beer you wanted. TVs were scattered across the bar showing different games so there is no such thing as a commercial break. There are also 2 pool tables that only cost $ 1 to play so if you got a few buddies, it can be as cheap as 25 cents per person per game. Good place if you’re trying to have a chill night out and is definitely a hangout spot for students from nearby NYU. It isn’t too noisy so you can definite carry on conversations with your friends or… the cutie at the end of the bar. There is no dance floor so keep your dancing shoes at home and the music is based off the jukebox which is free so you can switch songs at anytime. Depending on the crowd, you may hear popular songs from your grandparents’ generation or current top 40 hits

A solid NYC bar. Wish I could have tried the food but the beers and atmosphere were great! Can get packed, though I’m judging based on coming when NYU was having a happy hour for their MBA students so who knows what it’s like on a random weekday. I’d come back, it’s super casual and roomy.

I was really surprised at how empty this place was on a big Sunday game day. I think this is a «bears» bar. It’s nice and spacious and the waitresses are sweet! We ended up waiting for friends for about an hour and a half, and were checked on often, but not to the point where we felt like they were annoyed we weren’t ordering yet. Service was prompt. The waitress even gave my friend free fries with his wrap! Good service and very easy going. Makes you feel like home. One star off for the sad state of the ladies room.

I came here to watch my cousin play pool and the pool tables are the ‘shorter’ sized tables. There are only 2. This place has a lot of seating all around, isn’t terribly noisy, has a broken juke box, and charges you $ 2.75 for a ginger ale.

I used to live in NYC and so I used to come here to watch bears games because they had them on and like 20 people from chicago will always be there watching the game cheering or suffering depending on how the game turned out. The food is awesome. It is always very clean. I say that because not all sports bars are clean. The people are friendly. Good place to begin a Saturday Night if you are 21 – 29 years of age. A nice young crowd given it’s proximity to NYU . This is one of my favorite bars in the whole world-just for the cool easy going attitude of the patrons and staff.

A classic bar from my NYU days that still has«it!» Josie’s, as the bar is well-known throughout the city, is definitely a casual neighborhood bar where you can catch a Sunday football game, drink some inexpensive beer, and chow down on awesome waffle fries. I love it!
