A little disappointed they were out of red velvet cheesecake so I I had the red velvet cake instead. It was very good just didn’t blow me away.

BLUF: A quick stop location within Grand Central’s dinning area making it a perfect place to grab a slice of dessert on your way out of the city. This review is just for their desserts because I have not had the pleasure to sit down at this location for a meal. Junior’s in grand central has a sit down location for its patrons looking for a meal and a stand right next to the entrance for those looking to buy a quite bite or a drink from the bakery. I got the chocolate fudge layer cake and it is exactly what it’s name suggests. Layers of chocolate on top of each other. Starts with a basic chocolate cake, topped with creamy mousse, layered with another bit of cake, reaching the zenith of chocolate frosting. The weak may claim that it’s too sweet, but really, is that a real thing? The ultimate comfort food to help you cope with leaving the confines of NYC and back into the forgotten upstate.

The last time I had eaten at Junior’s was many years ago, back when I lived in Brooklyn. My memories were that the food was very good. As the old cliché goes, you can’t go back. I was in Grand Central Terminal around lunch time and was looking for a restaurant. I was happy to see they have a Junior’s there, so I went in. I ordered a bowl of split pea soup and the burger special. I waited and waited, and after about 15 minutes I asked the server when the soup was coming out. He told me it would be coming soon, along with my burger. I said I’d really like it before the burger, otherwise the main dish will get cold. He went back to the kitchen and came out 5 minutes later with the soup and the burger(!). I took a few sips of the lukewarm soup and decided it wasn’t worth letting my food get cold, so I put the soup aside. My server noticed this and asked if anything was wrong. I repeated what I had told him earlier and to his credit he took the soup and said he’d remove it from the bill. I dug into the burger and while it was OK it was basically tasteless. The fries were also just OK but the onion rings were not good; they were very doughy and undercooked. I ate as much of this lunch as I could tolerate and left the rest. I didn’t ding the server on his tip since I felt a bit badly for him as he was new to this job and apparently to American customs. However he was very attentive and eager to please and with a bit more time and training should do very well. I took a slice of cheesecake to go, and at least that fulfilled my recollections. Unfortunately though, I won’t be back for lunch.

Ate here after getting off my train in grand central station. I’m giving it the third star because it is convenient and one of the only sit down restaurants in the terminal. But the food quality is not very good at all. I’m not sure if this was the type of food that they serve at their Times Square location but if it is I’m not sure how they are popular. It was super fast which makes me think they didn’t really cook anything, they just heated it up. I suppose at the end of the day it was just okay, not horrible but nothing special. Good cheesecake btw(not as good as mine though)

I was meeting a friend to celebrate my birthday, and since we were also seeing a movie, we went to Junior’s so as not to break the bank. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, which came with french fries and onion rings, while my friend had a salad, and we split a slice of sugar free cheesecake for dessert. The burger was prepared well, didn’t need seasoning, and was a generous portion, while the fries were ok — I’ve had better and worse. The onion rings, hoever, it would be hard to do worse. Y0ou could barely taste the onion as they were so deep in undercooked beer batter that nothing could help these rings. While the restaurant was busy, that’s not an excuse for any part of dinner to be subpar. The sugarfree cheesecake redeemed the meal, as even without any topping, it was as good as I remember regular cheesecake used to be.

I meant to go to the restaurant near central park area BUT I was pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon this place inside the Grand Central Station!!! We only wanted the cheesecakes! so we ordered the fresh strawberry cheesecake and the chocolate mousse cheesecake! Both were HUGE and omg delicious!!! creamy, rich, to die for! After eating cheesecakes here. I think it will be difficult for me to appreciate cheesecakes elsewhere!!! come hungry… sugar hungry!

Love Junior’s. Have eaten at this Junior’s twice now, both times after stomping through the streets of Manhattan all day, and all I want is a meal so I can build up the energy to stomp some more. Junior’s serves coleslaw, beets and pickles before your meal arrives which is great! Waiters are always attentive, and the food is hot and good. My only regret is not saving enough room for cheesecake. Junior’s — I WILL be back for cheesecake.

Review based on cheesecake alone! Best cheesecake I have ever had. Service is ok, ambience ok, other food ok. Cheesecake perfect :).

Had the Steak Burger w mushrooms, fries & onion rings. Unfortunately, the burger was very flavorless, needed ketchup big time, but hardly helped. So, The Firepit Grill in Ridgefield Park, NJ and the Shake Shack have no worries about Junior’s as a «competitor.»

** REVIEWBASEDOFFOFREDVELVETCHEESECAKE ** Mleh… I’ve definitely had better cheesecake. Maybe because in OC, we have such a craze with red velvet that I’ve honestly had the best red velvet flavored everything– ice cream, bundt cake, cookie, etc. The cheesecake slice is HUGE but its not super mind-blowingly good or tasty. I expected more cheese flavor too.

Every so often a New Yorker needs a pastrami sandwich, and when I do, I stop by Junior’s and get it to go(if I wanted to sit down at Juniors I’d go to Brooklyn), so this review is just about the sandwich take-out. It’s designed for commuters, and in my experience is fast and accurate. Occasionally, later in the evening, I’ve gotten a sandwich composed of shreds of meat that shouldn’t have been served, but last week’s was right on the mark, full of juicy pastrami on fresh rye bread. Yes, they do give you pickles to go, and for the very modest price, particularly given the location, throw in a beverage as well. I’ll be back!

Not 5 ‘s and this is why… we ordered to go, but then decided to stay, but the night manager gave us a REALLYHARDTIME. Eventually, yes, he did give us a table, n we enjoyed ourselves. The cheesecake had Mii speechless. I literally had no words too I was done eating it, n my friend laughed @mii the whole time. I will definitely b goin back here

A slice of a plain cheesecake from Junior’s has ruined all other cheesecakes for me! I’m even tempted to order a whole cake and have it delivered to my apt in FL! We’ll definitely head back to Junior’s for cheesecake whenever we’re in NY. We had breakfast here one morning — it was ok. Regular bagel with cream cheese, and a pastrami egg sandwich. The chocolate egg cream was not that creamy either. We should’ve had cheesecake for breakfast instead.

It’s your stereotypical diner with a couple standouts… Their assorted doughnuts are huge, as are the cookies. But, the sausage is quite unique — they are large links. The service was okay and the food was edible. We had a party of 6(3 kids and 3 adults), which means we ordered a variety of items. The omelets were probably the best option we ordered, but you can’t really mess up an omelet… The French Toast had a great deal of cinnamon and very little sugar. The home fries weren’t your typical home fries… They were more like mashed potatoes with a few chunks of potatoes within them. They were also pretty bland. Overall, it was okay. When we come back into the city we will likely try another spot, but it’s worth it if you’re looking for a simple and edible diner. I would definitely come back for a doughnut and/or cookies!

The fried fish sandwich is really tasty! It’s a good spot to grab lunch really quickly even though it’s known for their cheesecake. Not too shabby :) I’d go for it again.

If you find yourself in Grand Central station, with a rumbling tummy, and the only thing that could satisfy your cravings is a slab of dessert, I have one thing to say to you: Chocolate mousse cheesecake! Oh. My. Goodness. It was delicious and as my main man Ron Burgundy would say, it was compelling and rich. Seriously, get yourself some. It’s amazing! Mrs D. got herself a slab of chocolate fudge layer cake, which was also phenomenal!

We came here on a Thursday morning for breakfast, before heading to the Met. Not all the places were open for breakfast, and I suggested coming here, with the intent of getting a cheesecake«to try». I’m not a fan of cheesecake, but this place has a decent one which I ate not one, but 3 bites! For me, that’s a compliment. For breakfast, I had the sliders with corned beef. The sliders were delicious, but I thought they were little skimpy on the meat. Service was just ok. Our guy seemed new to serving, and, he wasn’t quite familiar with the menu. Sigh… He also had no clue how to tell tourists which subway to take to the Met. They also pack you in like sardines, so be prepared to meet a new friend. I’d like to try the other Juniors, to compare eating it off dishes than paper plates. Well, I guess«next time».

This is a review for cake ordering only. I called a few days in advance to place a custom cake order for yellow cake with chocolate frosting. The person over the phone took my order and I specifically said no nuts for the cake, and he said ok. The day of pick-up I called just to confirm that it was ready. The person seemed really confused and said there was no cake order or anything written down in my name(even though I had to give my credit card when I ordered). After searching they found my order, then told me I didn’t need to place any special order, that the cake didn’t come with nuts(it comes with breadcrumbs lining the bottom which just look like nuts). When I finally went to pick it up, I had the same confusion and played the«Where’s your order game» again. Fortunately(after 15min) the same conclusion and an actual order form was found, and re-confirmed that there were no nuts. They gave me the cake and I brought it home for my boyfriend’s birthday. While the cake looked pretty nice, once we cut it open, we found that the actual cake part was quite dry(and there’s not that much cake part, it’s mostly chocolate). 1 – 2 days later(there were only 2 of us and we couldn’t eat the whole cake in 1 day), the top layer of chocolate and the bottom part of the cake were so dry and hard, we didn’t even bother eating it. We literally just scooped out the insides and threw the rest away. I’m not sure if it’s because they didn’t have any fresh cakes(this one was pulled from the refrigerator in the window display so who knows how long it was sitting there), or what, because the slices are usually moist and good, but we just had a bad overall experience and will not be ordering whole cakes from them again.

When you hear of Juniors, you hear about their amazing cheesecake being the best in all of New York. I wish I could say that after trying it. The location is crowded in beautiful Grand Central Terminal amongst a few other restaurant choices such as Oyster bar and Shake Shack. The order line at Shake Shack is beyond long so I usually end up at juniors, which I truly don’t enjoy that much. The food there looks clumsy and cheap. Paper plates, plastic cups, and plastic silverware. Tables are too close together that you listen to everyone’s convos while drinking your cream soda. She said what… The menu is simple and direct to the fact that they do fried foods, hot dogs and their legendary pastrami sandwiches. I’ve had their salads which are sub par, and again nothing tasty. But I finally had an amazing item, which was the pastrami Ruben… O… M…freaking Gee. It was delicious! Every bite was so tasty and filling, I barely got through the first half before almost giving up, key word.ALMOST. The Russian dressing was good with it, but the fries were a bit much as they always are. Heavy and oily steak fries are not my favorite. If I were to return, it would be only for that Pastrami Ruben on Rye. Truly hit the spot! Wasn’t much of a fan of the super sweet and thick cheese cake slice, but that’s just me.

I came to this location because it was located in Grand Central Station which is a great sight seeing spot. The BF loves cheesecake and has never been to grand central station so this was the perfect place to kill two birds with one stone.(Plus there’s a Magnolia Bakery there too :3 which was for me!) Our expectations were set very high from all the reviews and«best cheesecake ever» and world famous cheesecake comments. But we were quite disappointed. We ordered a slice of the original cheesecake(I mean you can never go wrong with original). The cheesecake part was very good. Very creamy and rich, not too sweet, just a perfect cheesecake filling. But the disappointment was in the crust. I love that sweet crunchy graham cracker crust to compliment and add a variety of texture to the creamy cheesecake. But there was practically no crust. Without the perfect crust, this was no world’s best cheesecake. It is a pretty big slice you get, the two of us couldn’t finish it for a price of $ 7. Finally got to try what the hype was all about, but won’t be getting a second slice.

Situated in the food court of the Grand Central Terminal, the location is very convenient for those heading towards their track. I for one did a quick stop to get myself pre-packed slices of cheesecake to-go before boarding my train. They were fast, easy, and friendly. Now, this is the bakery corner of Junior’s. Just right next to it is their restaurant. It was packed and happening! Famous for their pastrami sandwiches, I saw a couple of tables order these babies as I was passing by. Man, did those look good! Although I didn’t get to try it on this particular branch, I still remember how delicious those were. The cheesecake on the other hand was what I came here for. I bought a total of 6 pre-packed slices of Red Velvet, Strawberry Shortcake, and Devil’s Food Cheesecake. Yes, all cheesecakes. I gave away the red velvet as gifts so I can’t really critic it. I have to say though, if you looooooooove chocolate, the DEVIL’S FOODCHEESECAKE is nothing short of decadent, rich, and heavenly. It’s layers of chocolate sponge cake topped with icing, then fudge, then cake, then fudge, then cheesecake, another layer of fudge, and again cake. For $ 6.95 each, it sounds expensive but the size of this thing is massive. Consuming it by yourself will also consume you with guilt so please do share. It’s meant to be. The STRAWBERRYSHORTCAKE is layers of white cake, icing, strawberry preserves, strawberry cheesecake, strawberry preserves, icing, and again, white cake. I love how each layer contributes to the overall taste profile of this cake. They all have their roles to play and they did well to make this quite a masterpiece. If you love strawberries, I highly recommend. In reality, I’m not a huge fan of cheesecakes as I find it too rich. But when I’m in town and have the craving, Junior’s is the exception to that rule.
