Kang Ho is a real lively Korean BBQ spot with a modern twist. Real bustling vibe, decent service, decent food, but price point is high for what you get. Environment — We had about an hour wait on an Friday night at 8:30pm. They have a tex message system so you can go grab some drinks and come back. Definitely a Plus. Place was still lively when we sat down. Place was clean and the minute you walk in– all you want to do is eat as the bbq smell is overwhelming, in a good way! Food — Quick Tip: Stick to the COMBOs. My party of 4 settled on the large beef combo with the prime boneless short rib and a small pork combo with the marinated pork collar. We also chose the beef brisket soybean paste stew as our free stew with the combos. 1. Large Beef Combo — Came with brisket, prime short rib and our additional selection of prime boneless short rib. All of them were seasoned well and super tasty. The best one was the boneless short rib. Absolutely to die for. Must get. — Recommended 2. Small Pork Combo — Came with seared pork belly, pork jowl, and our additional selection of marinaed pork collar. The pork belly was mehhh. have had better. The Marinated Pork Collar — absolutely delicious. — Recommended 3. Beef Brisket Combo Soybean Paste Stew — Stew with tofu, an assortment of vegetables and beef brisket. Pretty good taste. TO be honest, by the time it came, we had alraedy finished most of our food so i was barely able to really enjoy this one but this was recommended to me. 4. Side Dishes — Pretty good selection 5. Extra Kicker — Sides of the Grill are lined with Egg and Corn — SOGOOD. Especially the egg. Make sure to wait until about half the meat is done cooking so that you can let the egg cook through. Service — Service was MEH. Waiter came around to cook our food but with how busy they were, sometimes our meat was burned or he took it off the grill too early and the meat was undercooked. We also had trouble getting refills on our water and asking for additional utensils. — Bumped down an star for service Price — Expensive for Korean BBQ. Large Combo was 105 and the small pork combo was 65. Portions aren’t that large either for what you get.

1.5 hours wait on a friday night we got seated at 9:15pm Got the beef combo: 1) thinly sliced beef brisket: overcooked by the server 2) Prime Steak prime rib: overcooked again 3) Seasoned prime short rib: my favorite beef in this combo, this is finally not overcooked we also added the Lunch box where they shake the kimchi fried rice, it was pretty good! the appetizers are good, salads are all you can eat, and a few more options the eggs on the side of the grill is done pretty soon, as soon as the first meat is cooked, and the cheese and corn as well — in this sense it is better than the Kang ho dong in LA The ventilation here is also really great in general, food wise i like the LAKHD more; but in terms of surroundings and appetizers and sides, i like the NY one.

Yummy Korean BBQ. The atmosphere reminded me of being in Korea with the bustling vibe. Well seasoned food worth coming back for. Pluses: — Great meat, servers who grill the meat to perfection for you — The side dishes taste great and are marinated well — Variety of choices — They have this cool fume fan right above where they grill the meat so your clothes don’t smell too strongly like BBQ Minuses: — It’s loud and a bit chaotic — You have to keep asking the servers to refill some of the side dishes

This place is everything! I’ve heard great reviews and been wanting to go to the Baekjong in LA. I didn’t know they had one here in NY(I don’t know if they’re the same place though) but i was stoked my family took me here! I love how they cook for you instead of doing it yourself, which is how it is in most places. Since I preferred my meat medium well, I did have to cook my pieces a little more. My favorite one was the seasoned short rib, however if you like your meat more flavorful and sweet, I suggest getting the marinated short rib. I also liked that the vent was adjustable so you can lower it to prevent the smoke from completely stinking up the place, more importantly your clothes/hair. The only cons I can think of is probably the price(worth it but not as cheap as other kbbqs) and how they make you order an extra platter of corn cheese because they don’t give free refills.

We came here on a Sun night before Memorial Day and the wait was about 10 – 15 min after 9pm. The four of us shared the large beef combo, which also came with steamed egg, corn and cheese, choice of hot stew, and mushroom. The meat here was so good! The marble wasn’t too thick and it just enhanced the flavor of the meat(obviously prime cut)! Everything just melted in the mouth. The service was fantastic. The yogurt soju was great but was also pricey. We only had one drink each(it was maybe as much as one and half of a shot glass) for a grand total of $ 27.

One of the best kbbq’s I’ve ever had. The meat is always soooooo good. Fresh, tender, and they always cook it perfectly. Never had a bad meal here. Their yuzu and melon soju are amazing too! Definitely recommend!

Pros: — Delicious meat — Open late — Attentive/fast servers Cons: — Expensive — Very, very loud — Not as many banchan/small dishes as other Korean restaurants My boyfriend and I came in around 1am on a Friday night and were seated promptly(plenty of available seats at 1am). We ordered the Beef Combo(small), which ended up being the perfect amount of food for 2 people. The prices seem slightly higher than the prices at Kunjip, but the beef is way tastier here. The prime rib eye was hands down the star of the beef combo for us. I don’t know what they put in their special dipping sauce, but it is absolutely heavenly and makes their beef even more delicious. The combo came with kimchi stew, but we barely touched any of it because we were so full. As much as I enjoyed our meal here, I don’t think I will be coming back for 1-on-1 meals. Even though the restaurant was not packed, my boyfriend and I could barely hear each other over the music, other people, and sizzling food. I can see myself coming back with a group, however.

Definitely one of the best Korean BBQ places I’ve been to. I think this Kang Ho Dong joint is even better than the one in LA. The quality of the meats, the marinades, and the variety are all top notch. Service is impeccable. Waits are tolerable because they’ll take you number and send you updates via text messaging. Just make sure you’re willing to spend money; otherwise, it’ll probably be a bitter experience.

Korean bbq is so expensive in NY… and it could be better. With that said, Baekjeong is pretty solid. I honestly think it’s the best in Manhatten. The meat is really good quality — u can really taste it after eating at all of the mediocre places on 32nd street. Yes, the wait can be horrendous, but they have a waitlist and will text you when your table is ready. Super efficient! It’s not the cheapest on the block either, but I’d rather pay a little bit more and enjoy my meal a little bit more. It’s best if you order a set dinner than individual dishes as they can add up to $$$. Oh yeah, a plus is the scrambled egg on the side ring of the grill. Yum.

First of all, I’d have given 5 stars but as we were waiting the bartender/drinks girl tipped over a glass or two of iced tea. On me. It was an accident but. You know, she knew we were there. Service seemed robotic(except the guy that cut/cooked out meat for us) and a spring fell from the ceiling? Like what? Haha. Anyway on to the good stuff. A friend and I ate here yesterday(Saturday) for lunch. We waited less than ten minutes. We were sat upstairs(it was more peaceful) Ordered a small of pork and the beef soup? Both not too spicy. When you sit there’s side dishes waiting. Steamed egg and cheesed corn! So good. Radishes. Kimchi. Tofu. Greens two ways, one spicy the other sweeter. Soup was great. Really. Pork was so good. Especially the marinated. Service was really thorough in checking our meat and I appreciate that. Yeah. It’s a little costly but this is one of the best places for Korean BBQ hands down. Totes worth it. The iced tea here is lit. Definitely coming back to try the beef. Edit: the soybean paste they give for you to dip your meat into is heavenly. Honestly.

I love love love this establishment! But with that said you have to come here knowing that there will be certain particular qualities that won’t fit all types of diners. Before I get into those parts I will detail the good things: D. So as you sit down, you have several small plates of side dishes in front of you and egg and corn and cheese cooking at the edges of the grill. All of the dishes were great and wonderful additions to the meal. My friend and I got the beef combo and added the kimchi stew(very very good) and found it all to be extremely satisfying(despite it being a little bit more expensive… the food is worth it). However, the drawbacks are the following: the wait time is crazy for dinner so I would advise people to come at opening or for lunch. The tables are pretty packed together and conversation doesn’t happen very easily(shouting over the noise, the constant presence of the person helping you grill etc). Furthermore, as they gave quite a bit of meat(even for a small) I would make sure that all parties involved are ready to eat quite a bit. Regardless, I love this restaurant and would definitely return!

Friend from the West Coast flew in at midnight and wanted dinner, and I knew that would be the perfect time to try this place out since there probably wouldn’t be a wait, unlike during normal hours. Sure enough, strolled in at 1AM and got a table right away(well, after the host stared us down for a bit as if to make sure we really wanted to get the meat sweats that time of day). Not that this place was empty by any means — there was quite the assorted crowd there — it just wasn’t packed to the gills. Spread of banchan was great; I especially enjoyed the tofu. My friend and I ordered the small pork combo with marinated pork collar(vs. thinly sliced pork belly) and soybean beef brisket stew. The stew came out first, and it was amazing — just the right amount of spicy, savory, and a bit of funk from kimchi(is kimchi mandatory in Korean stews or something? I’m not complaining). Then came the star of the show — the meat. Besides the collar, the pork combo also comes with seared pork belly and jowl. While I adored the pork belly(surprise), the jowl was a bit too fatty even for me. Maybe I’m used to Japanese BBQ which seems to involve more marinades that add flavor and smaller pieces of meat overall, but I was overwhelmed by the porkiness of it all. The meats came with some sauces to dip it in, but they didn’t add much IMO. The marinated pork collar, however, was great — super flavorful and tender. Also enjoyed the steamed egg and corn with cheese that cook on the side of the grill as it heats up. For drinks we got the melon soju — standard and the perfect refreshing drink to go with all that heavy/spicy food. Service was awesome. Possibly they thought we were a fire hazard or just looked generally incompetent, but they insisted on doing all the cooking for us. This seemed to vary table by table. Would I come again? Yes — the food is great(the lack of ability to handle that much meat is nobody’s fault but my own), service is friendly, and the atmosphere is perfect for a group outing or post-drinking binge session. Next time I may stick to beef, though(and that marinated pork collar yum).

Line was out the door when we arrived around 7:30 on a Wednesday night. We didn’t have to wait because our entire party was present upon arrival. We were promptly seated upstairs and the atmosphere is typical of a standard, real Korean BBQ house. Tables are small and round and you sit upon small stools. Grills have a drop down vent to catch the smoke so you don’t need to worry about fighting smoke and fumes all night. The waiter/waitress cooks the meat for you so all you gotta do is sit back and eat like a king or queen. Marinated Short Rib: best meat option hands down. This is amazing. If it’s cooked at a high enough heat the marinade carmalizes and creates a perfect char. Ask for a side of Ssamjang to dip the meat in. Prime Boneless Short Rib: second best meat option. Melts like butter in your mouth. I preferred just dipping this meat in the salt. Bone appetit. Side dishes: this is the only thing holding this place from 5 stars. This place isn’t very generous when it comes to side dishes. Quite disappointed with the kimchi, too acidic and lacking heat! All around a great meal and I’ll be back next time I’m in town.

My Korean-American friend treated me to this place and it was awesome! I love going to restaurants with people who know what’s up. You get a different experience all together. I had a bit of trouble finding the place because the marquee is in Korean… but then she told me to look for the big cartoon and I was fine. We came at about 7pm on a Thursday and waited 10 minutes. Not too bad. We were seated upstairs and our waiter was super friendly. My friend explained to me that the restaurant is owned by a Korean comedian and the theme is like«poor man’s food» so that’s why the stools imitate buckets. Hmm ok, I can dig that. The grill you sit at is pretty cool because it has these wells filled with egg yolk and corn & cheese. When the egg is cooked and cheese corn melts, it’s on! They serve you interesting appetizers that are different from the ones you normally get at Korean restaurants. Fish cakes, kimchi yes but also tofu, thinly sliced radish, this yummy sweet potatoes, spicy sliced scallions: yum! We had the marbled steak(cooked to perfection) and the marinated short rib(SOOOOOGOOD). We also got the lunch box which is awesome because the waiter proceeded to shake it like a salt shaker… up and down, up and down until it was perfectly mixed. I washed it all done with delicious yuzu iced tea. The ambiance was fun, very casual with The waiters subconsciously singing along to the k-pop songs. Get here early, bring a friend, and enjoy!

This is one of the best korean bbq meals I’ve had, unfortunately also one of the most expensive as well. I came with my co workers, which we had to make resrrvations and drop a deposit prior to arrival. We had 3 different types of meat but the one that stood out most to me was the wagyu beef — prime boneless short rib. This melts in your mouth and can literally eat like 2 orders by myself. The sauce they have with wasabi is delicous and goes well with their meats. All of the banchan plates are good, but the corn and cheese is the best and they can keep those coming, same goes with the steamed eggs. Overall good food but again most of us were still hungry after and we ended up paying 76 dollars per person. Not worth 76 dollars in my opinion as we all drank only a little and only ordered 4 extra items on top of our prefixe meal.

Despite my being more used to the $ 25 all-you-can-eat varieties of KBBQ back in California, Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong and its a la carte prices have won me over. Delicious and relatively large portions of banchan, quality meat, complimentary sides, what’s not to like? Plus, the staff takes care of all of the cooking so that you don’t have to worry about proper cook time or cross contamination between food and uncooked meat. Highlights included the steamed egg side dish, beef tartare, and premium pork jowl. Definitely consider going for one of the combos if you’re dining with a group. My party of three was more than stuffed with the pork combo and even had enough for some leftovers!

Love coming here whenever I’m craving Korean BBQ. With my first time here, I arrived around 8.30PM with my friend and right away we were greeted by a fairly long line to put our names on the waitlist. We were told that the wait was 45 minutes to an hour. I was starving and didn’t wait to wait that long, but in the end we decided to wait it out, and it was definitely worth the wait. The meat grill on each table has an exhaust to pull the smoke out(just like how they do it in Korea). The grill has a surrounding ring acting as a moat with a steamed egg mixture on one half, and cheesy corn on the other, serving as side dishes while the meat cooks. Both the steamed egg and corn are delicious– I wish they could keep refilling it as I could eat both for days! We ordered the beef combo($ 69.99 for a S) and it was plenty of meat for two people. You get 3 different kinds of beef(brisket, prime short rib, boneless short rib or prime rib eye). The combos come with Soybean Paste or Kimchi Stew which are both delicious. There is also complementary, bean sprout salad, lettuce, kimchi, meat sauce etc. The beef is really good — very tender and flavorful. The way they marinate the meat is delicious. You can only make reservations for a party over 6. I came here for a birthday party for a group of 12 and we had our own private table upstairs in an enclosed space. They require a pre-fix menu of $ 45 per person for a large party and all the cuts of meat provided were so good. This is a great place to celebrate a birthday. They darken the room and the servers come out and dance to Gangnam Style with flashing lights. Highly recommend for birthdays or a large group gathering.

After going to Jongro only a few days before, this was a much lesser experience. My friend and I ordered two meats and a seafood pancake – one meat would have been sufficient. I would go with the marinated beef, as that had more flavor than the filet mignon we had. The seafood pancake was actually very, very good, so props for that! Wait wasn’t unreasonable – maybe 20 minutes to get seated? There’s a huge upstairs with a lot of seating as well. Not a huge fan of the corn or eggs that everyone raves about – when I come to kbbq I want the MEAT! And this meat was only simply mediocre. But, still better than Miss Korea imho.

Wow the BBQ is good but beware that on weekends the upper dining room isn’t open and on cold days like today(16 °F!) the wait can be an hour. It’s best to wait until 5pm or so and have an early dinner because the upstairs dining room is open. They do have a texting system so wander off to h-mart or get some ginseng tea across the street at Café & Ginseng. This is a place to really enjoy K-pop. They have a large speaker system and its like being at a concert. Upstairs has a box where u can out your clothes to eliminate that BBQ smell :-) The pork belly BBQ was really nice and fatty and tender. Bad for u but yum! Nice with a little salt. Or Baek Jeong which is soy sauce with onions and wasabi. That was great. Seasoned short rib was also terrific. Nice sear and very tender. The sauce was great as well. Nice job!

This is a new style for me to eat my food, this was a mix of family style, but the food was cook right there in front of our eyes. I was the first one to arrive from a party of 5 people, the hostess told me that in order to be sit in the table, all person have to be presented, so me and a few of my friends had to wait until everyone arrived be sit it. When we were seated, we find out that the table has a grill and each grill has a ring around it, where the server fills out with egg omelette batter, cheesy and corn. This was refilled each time that the ring was empty. The service was impeccable and the staff was so friendly. The food: On the side Rice and veggies. The Prime Rib Eye: the rib cook medium, the meat was tender, juicy, very flavorfully and tasty. Marinated Pork Collar: meat with an excellent taste very juicy flavor. Pork Cheek: nice and crispy on the outside, and moist and juicy on the inside, it’s a must try. Pork Belly: this is a must-try. The sweet corn purée serves a nice balance to the savory pork belly, cooked to perfection. I also was drinking the ice tea with I have to highlight that was very good.
