The foie gras was good. The sea food was good. The champagne was good. The place and The service were not pretentious nor fussy. I really want to go back and confirm the good impression.

Awesome find for bunch! Hope to come back soon for dinner. I saw Bateau Ivre listed on the Trip Advisor and thought it would be a cool place for Easter Brunch. Our cousin, who lives on Roosevelt Island, joined us and she walked from the tram. It is very conveniently located, only 10 minute walk from 5th Avenue. They had a great live jazz combo, who I feared may be too loud, but turned out to be excellent background for lively conversation. The Brunch offerings were great! We all had something different but I totally recommend the smoked salmon salad with poached egg. There is no way to get something this good and plentiful, with a glass of champagne, for the $ 25 that Batesu Ivre charged. The Crouque Monsieur and Madame were executed perfectly. Service was friendly and excellent. Can’t wait to return.

Had dinner Friday night at 6PM. When we walked in it was empty but then filled up fast. Incredible selection of wine reasonably priced and we were invited to a brief free wine tasting. I had the Duck Leg which was wonderfull, roasted nicely with mushrooms and potatoes. Wife had Steak which was good with great Fries. The Profiteroles for desert were great. Service could not have been better, the staff was friendly and attentive. Overall a great experience and we will be back.

A great place if you are hungry at 3am! Decent French cuisine. We ordered mussels, croque Madame sandwich, escargot and tuna tartare — everything was pretty good. Tuna tartare was definitely my favorite. They also have a lot of wines to choose from!

As close to Paris as you can get in Midtown East. Had dinner here twice, once solo at the bar and second time with family and friends. Great menu and even greater French wine list. Small room but not noisy. Staff is great. Room looks great.

Le Bateau Ivre is a romantic, tiny and cozy wine bar in East Midtown. Authentically French with exceptionally warm service. Come for the atmosphere, fantastic wine and French Onion Soup.

It was Sunday night and it was a bit late, most of the restaurant were closed and we decided to go to le bateau ivre, I was a bit skeptical since I’m not a big fan of the French cuisine. We were very lucky because Alessandro, the manger, took care of us. He’s amazing!!! He helped us with the menu and he recommended the wines. The food was delicious and the wines were even better. We ordered the mussels and we shared a paella. The dessert was amazing. I definitely recommend this place and I will definitely go back again and I hope to be lucky enough to find Alessandro. If you want to have an amazing experience ask for him.

T. and I had lunch by the window at ‘Le bateau ivre’. The latter means ‘The drunken ship’ in French. We were promptly seated. The service was friendly and efficient. The décor had a French bistro feel. The restaurant and restrooms were clean. The noise level was fine. The steak frites and the bass dish were good. The size portion was fair. Our favorite place to enjoy a steak frites in a casual French bistro setting is ‘Café d’Alsace’ on the Upper East Side. We love their affordable pre-fix menu.

Thumbs up to a good dinning experience. We were in neighborhood for my birthday. We were quickly seated. Our waitress was very sweet and polite. The sangria was amazing. I had the the best burger in along time. My boyfriend enjoyed his salmon and ratatouille. My birthday surprise was amazing. What’s more the whole restaurant got in on the celebration. Great time

Great little wine bar next to my hotel. Very small venue but apparently popular as my dinner Wednesday early evening was packed. I had a cheeseburger and fries $ 18 and a couple glasses of red which set me back $ 48 but it was worth it. Wine was really good. Service was solid and I would return.
The perfect place to share a glass of wine on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Live musical trio playing lovely tunes. Friendly service, informative with good wine suggestions. Their wine list is huge so the guidance was very much appreciated! We didn’t try any food so this review is just for the wine(and Belinis), the atmosphere and the service.

Delicious food, great atmosphere, great service. We got grilled calamari to start, which was the perfect opener to an overall great experience. We both got the leg of lamb for entrees. phenomenal! Get this dish!!! You will not be disappointed… try this place!

I made a reservation at Le Bateau Ivre for a friend’s birthday dinner. I chose this restaurant based on the convenience of location for my party and Unilocal’s reviews. I am extremely happy with the service and food that was provided. The manager continually checked on our table and customers at other table. He was extremely welcoming and accommodating. Our waitress was very attentive to us and polite. In addition, a server refilled our water regularly without us asking. I have not seen better service in all my dining experiences. In celebration of Bastille Day, our glass of champagne came with a side of comte cheese and some dried fruits and nuts. We ordered a charcuterie as an appetizer. Our main dishes included paella, confit de canard(duck leg with potatoes) and mussels in white wine sauce. Everything tasted absolutely delicious! Each main course tasted hot and fresh. My only criticism is that the paella had a bit too much sauce and the rice could have been a bit softer. However, it was very good regardless. The staff went out of their way to prepare a beautiful sparkler that came out with our chocolate mousse dessert in honor of my friend’s special day. Thank you, Le Bateau Ivre, for making my friend’s birthday so memorable! I will definitely be coming back.

We came here for brunch with friends on the weekend. Please note, reservations are definitely recommended. This is a «sit for awhile and chat with friends, and have a dessert coffee after dinner» type of restaurant, so tables were not changing fast at all. It is a fairly small space too, best for small groups. The food was alright — I ordered a croque madame. It was ok — a little burnt on the bottom corners, and wasn’t piping hot, so it didn’t wow me. The brunch menu did come with a cocktail, and my bellini was good. The atmosphere is they key to this restaurant — they had a live band playing jazz. At first I thought«wow that’s a really great quality CD theyr’e playing, maybe just good speakers???» then I realized that there was a guy with a bass and a drum set and people were playing. It was amazing. We didn’t want to leave so we ordered dessert. I got the red wine poached pear and shared it with my fiancé — it was gorgeous and delicious!!! The main water did mess up one of our orders and served our friend something she was not able to eat.(switched omlettes with someone else?) Otherwise, service was acceptable. I think it’s a solid 3.5 stars.

Came here for my birthday with family and we were treated like royalty. The mussels were incredible, as was the duck breast and escargot. Great wine selection and a close walk to the theatre. Highly recommend!

Winner! Found via Unilocal(thank you again) and enjoyed with dear friends. This is a small bistro with fun décor. The tables are close together and it’s best for groups of four or fewer. I noticed several other diners were speaking French. The large menu is white and red wine. The small menu is the food. There are lots of choices for a broad price range in both. We ate fresh oysters, fois gras, steak frites, canard a l’orange with a fantastic crème brûlée to finish. The music was a good range of jazz and blues. On the loud side of the sound spectrum. Server was exceptional!
