*STORECLOSED* When I first visited New York, we accidentally came across Nolita while getting lost. So a couple years passed and I never forgot about this little boutique. And the necklace I bought although it broke and has since tarnished, it still reminds me of my first time in New York. They had cute blouses and dresses, everything that reminded me of how fashionable New Yorkers are. This year I lived in New York for part of summer and decided to go back. They have since unfortunately closed. Some things stay the same, others change.

I really love this place. Beautiful, unique and trendy clothing. I bought two dresses last time I was here: one was a summery, checked sun dress, and the other was more for fall/winter, a long sleeved babydoll dress with a fitted waist and a cute pattern, very 60’s-esque. I love both dresses and have gotten a lot of wear out of them. Only two cons: the prices and the fact they don’t have sizes because each piece of clothing is originally made. I had to try on a million different things before I came upon dresses that fit me well. Still, would recommend.

Something caught my eye in the window when I was walking past this store yesterday evening and I went in to find they were having a pretty great sale going on. I was with a friend and we had dinner reservations soon after, so I didn’t try on their clothes, but I sifted through some of the items and some of them they looked really cute. Lots of lace-y, peplum style tops in various arrangements and some cute printed dresses. I ended up walking out with a necklace that was reduced to around 33 dollars(originally $ 38, as most of their necklaces were priced). It’s a somewhat chunky but quite versatile necklace that’ll go with lots of things, as it’s made of several different types of metal thin chains. All in all, some cute tops/dresses/jewelry. The bags weren’t too exciting, but check out the other stuff!

I must admit that when i first passed this storefront i barely glanced twice. Im actually not even sure why i decided to go inside, since there was nothing really appealing in the window display! From the outside it just looked like a cheapie store you might find on Canal Street in NY or Santee Alley in LA, kinda like one of those Image Stores that sells cheap clothing at high prices because of their location; but BOY/GIRL was i wrong!!! Each and every item was one of a kind. If i could imagine a beautiful garment that had both the elegance of the 20s, the glamour of the 30s, the pinups of the 40s, the vixen femme fatales of the 50s, the cuteness of the 60s but with a modern avant garde twist this place had it! None of the clothes are used, they are all brand new and one of a kind pieces made by local young designers. Because they are one of a kind pieces the prices are a bit high, but it seriously is every woman’s fantasy in fabric. And i LOVED that none of the items were SIZED. Nope if you liked something you just had to try it on to see if it fit. i tried on 2 dresses and without planning to take any home, one of them looked like an army/nurse dress from WWI but made in navy silk with mild accents of dried rose petal pink; unfortunately this one was too big. The other one was black with hints of beige on the sleeves and on the tie-belt that goes around the waist, This one fit perfectly, as if it had been made for my body. It was like if Coco Chanel or Nina Garcia and Wonderwoman and gave birth to a cute pinup Lolita. It got its chic NY style in the black color with accented beige, it got its sexy wonderwoman style from the puffed shoulder sleeves and short length of its flowing skirt, and it got its baby pinup Lolita cuteness from its doll like shape. It was a dream come true(if i ever dreamed about clothes… which i don’t! I dream about saving the world, going on life-changing adventures and marrying James Franco, Duh!!!) I waited for the store to be empty and i asked the woman for a 10% if i bought it the same day, otherwise i would think about it and maybe return for it tomorrow. She agreed. The dress was $ 130−10% was $ 115 and she told me that if i paid her in cash she would not charge me tax on top of the $ 115. There is an ATM across the street. Tax would have been $ 10, getting cash out of the ATM was $ 1.75 in these times when we want to treat ourselves well and splurge but still save some money, going to the ATM saved me $ 8 and some change! I took the dress home and the store owner made another sale! Everybody wins!

I just bought a scarf for my friend’s birth day gift there. It was really cute. She really loved it. I would recommend this store because there are many kinds of cute scarfs. You will like it!

I bought a lovely jacket in this store. It was on sale and I paid $ 160. It was a little pricey but if you consider the quality of the jacket, it’s not so expensive. I really love this jacket and people often stop and ask me on the street where I got it.

DONOTSHOPHERE! Yesterday — August 31 — I bought a dress that was cute and looked like good quality so I paid the $ 80 for it. As I was walking around Soho on Broadway I pooped into one of those cheesy stores that look like they have crap and tons and tons of clothes — the store on the nw corner of Broadway and Groom. They not only had the same exact dress for $ 20(same frabic, different label, same fit, same color, same quality) but they had about 5 other pieces that Lollipop carried for a ¼ of the price! I feel so scammed, especially since I can’t return the dress!!! I wouldn’t shop here. Save your time and check these overcrowded stores and dig a bit before popping into an overpriced boutique!

Lollipop has a soft, cozy feel with brick walls and a quiet interior. The clothes are trendy, friendly, and flowy in airy pastels. Tops, dresses, tunics, and bottoms range from $ 50 – 175, with most dresses hovering around $ 115. The clothes are fun and light, but lack much [more] … Read my expanded review at The Boutique of the Week:
