Great place! Awesome food reasonably priced. Quick service and close to NYU Langone medical center. The turkey meatloaf is delicious… RRY

Everything I’ve had from there was pretty terrible: quesadilla, lasagna, pot pie, except for their turkey burger which was decent. Nothing spectacular but at least edible. Update: came back in a desperate day ordered French toast and they tried to give me bread dipped in butter and grilled. Hahaha what a joke. Just lost another star

oh… no, not really. Diners should have good soup, and if they don’t, then they shouldn’t serve them. I had ordered a Lobster bisque? yeah, Lobster bisque. I had to go back to my photos and check it tasted like campbells tomato soup with that fake seafood added and blended to tiny pebbles. 1st spoosful gets you with that comfort-familiar taste, but them it comes … yuck. Then I had chicken wings — frozen from a bag. I’ve tasted these everywhere. My husband fared much better. He had a yummy looking burger with mushrooms and some kind of runny sauce, that was tasty as were the fries. I’m caught between 2 and 3 stars.

Met a colleague here for a quick business breakfast. Had okay coffee but the place was really empty despite being prime breakfast time across from a busy medical center. I can’t comment on the overall quality of most of the options but i’ll say that the bagel and lox was a huge disappointment. I mean, I know that if i really wanted the good stuff i should have found a nice deli but i figured that in NYC every place should have at least decent bagels and lox. Not to be, the lox was flavorless and the bagel only marginally less so.

Enjoy this place. The staff is friendly, the food is very good for the price, easy in and out, fast delivery. The oreo cake is divine!

My first reaction as I reached the corner of 1st and 34th was«WAIT! Where is Lucky’s???» A family favorite for years and years, I hadn’t known about their plans to expand/relocate. They’re using the prime corner real estate for their fast food gyro/sandwich restaurant and moved the diner down one slot to the adjoining space along 1st avenue. WHEW! Where else would we get one of our favorite burgers and grilled cheese orders? Very friendly service — as usual. It’s always good to a we the familiar faces of the long-time staff and the owners. The expansion project involved a remarkable revamp of the décor — all Blue and White, in true Greek form — and it’s easier for everyone to get through the isles, etc. I love what they’ve done. Go See it for yourselves. Congrats, you guys. Three months and running strong in the new place. May it always be jam-packed!

Pretty typical diner. Great if you’re just grabbing a quick bite. I had a grilled chicken club & fries($ 13.01). Everything was fresh and tasty. My waiter was very attentive and friendly.

Beautiful cheeseburger. That sesame bun is like commercial perfection. The lettuce was bright green and alive — not the sad, wilted kind. However, it was the most beautiful burger with no taste. Upon receiving the burger, you’re like«WOW! This is going to be awesome!» Then you take a bite and realize, huh, where’s the flavor? I feel like I’m eating for function now just so I’m not hungry. I was quite disappointed and probably wouldn’t get anything from here again but the staff is always friendly when I’m walking by.

Nothing super great, but nothing too bad either. Good wait staff. Prices on the high side but this is NYC and in this neighborhood there ain’t much else. Theu lost a star for having instant mashed potatoes.

Came here for breakfast since I was in the area. It seamed like a cute little spot for breakfast and I was starving. I had an egg white omelette with onions, roasted peppers, and mozzarella cheese. The coffee was pretty good. My eggs came with home fries which were really yummy. I’m not usually a fan but they were good. The place is small as well as the seating. I can definitely see this place getting packed around lunch.

Mediocre! You name it and it was mediocre. So many better diners; keep walking.

Delicious!!! But pretty pricey. I ordered the Awesome Burger and it was awesome tasty but not for the price. It was $ 7.95 for burger alone, pretty big and does not come with sides. If you wanted sides, it would cost you an extra $ 3 which is pretty hefty. I also ordered the Chicken Melt signature sandwich comes in a form of pita bread. I don’t know how that was but my mother likes it. $ 19.50 for a burger and sandwich without sides… I would come back for it. The burger was very juicy and I wished I had gotten some fries with that lonely order haha. It’s also convenient, right across the street from NYU Hospital.

Nothing outstanding about this place. It’s all very average fare. Got the standard eggs and sausage with a fruit cup and English muffin toast. My partner got steak and eggs and they cook the steak exactly how you tell them, it won’t be overdone so go ahead with medium! The eggs were good and standard and the breakfast sausage was good. Coffee not so great as you can make the same tasting coffee at home.

Last month, my boyfriend and I were in Midtown and had to find food to fill our tummies up before I made a visit to my aunt(who, passed away a month ago) at NYU. We didn’t want hospital food and there weren’t a lot of options close by, but we passed by Lucky’s Café and decided to come here for a quick lunch. My boyfriend got the Pizza Burger. The pricing of the burger wasn’t bad and it’s really filling. I had the 34th Street Burger which had melted mozzarella, caramelized onions and mushrooms. the burger was juicy and scrumptious. A little more expensive than my boyfriend’s burger. For our side, we had the sweet potato fries. I love, love, love sweet potato fries! A little sprinkle of cinnamon would have made it perfect. I really enjoyed our quick lunch at Lucky’s Café. I only had an hour to eat and I was glad they were able to serve our lunches in minutes. The wait for the food wasn’t long at all and the food was on point. It’s good to see that even a small spot like Lucky’s Café, the food and service was actually good. I highly recommend this small diner if you’re in the NYU Hospital area and need some good food.

Pros: Regular deli fare They were showing Wimbledon(instead of baseball) Cons: Nothing outstanding for breakfast and brunch menu(con I suppose) This place is a few blocks away from Gemini as one of the other Unilocalers pointed out there is very little in terms of difference.

I should just cut and paste my review of Gemini Diner, which is in the same neighborhood, to this because the quality, service and prices are so similar. Maybe Lucky’s is a bit more, but I can’t complain in NYC. I happened to be a big fan of potato hash, so the sweet potato hash was a bit of a surprise. Really nothing amazing, however, and the egg dishes are good and properly served. The coffee is fresh brewed tasting. I appreciate them noting themselves on fresh coffee twenty four hours a day. I believe it is, but the rest of the menu is your typical fare and quality. The atmosphere is special in its own right with the diner bar and quaint seating arrangements. I wonder if the quality suffers when it gets to busy. For a local spot, I indulge in time to time, but if I found a better place for more money I might go. Lucky for Lucky’s(and Gemini Diner) there isn’t a diner closer that is calling my name… I will continue to look however and let you know :)

Awesomely sunny Spring day outside today so I decided to take a walk and explore the area for a bit during lunch hour. Came upon this nice looking diner on the corner of 1st Avenue and 34th Street. I was only hankering for a sandwich or something a bit on the healthier side since I am dieting now trying to get back into summer beach shape. Yes, round is a shape, but one I would rather not be! After reading a few of the Unilocal reviews on this place I was kind of trepidacious, as some were either really bad or some were perfectly fine. I threw caution to the wind and took a table by the window. This diner is actually pretty sweet! The place is bright and upbeat with a summery color scheme on the tables, chairs, walls, and counter area. Live plants, baskets of fresh fruit, and simple but effective lighting fixtures round out the décor. Very clean too, and one of the staff was constantly sweeping and wiping down the tables the whole time I was there. I ordered a Mediterranean Wrap — grilled chicken, feta cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. Came with a pickle and small cole slaw for $ 8.95. The chicken was cooked just right and was moist, while the overall wrap was pretty good. No complaints here on a decent lunch under ten bucks! As a diner goes, their menu is filled with all the age-old food staples and specials for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and desserts. Open 24 hours a day too. Also on Seamless and Delivery. com. Must also be a popular spot for many of the staff at the nearby medical center as I saw a few of them come in to eat or grab meals to go. Plus, they had two flatscreens on the walls showing the Yankees opening day win today! Tasty wrap and afternoon baseball for lunch — BONUS!
