Good range of equipment for the avid cook, but not very friendly staff. If you’re comparing it with places like Sur la Table you’ll be pleasantly surprised, but there are better, cheaper, and more welcoming places all over the city.

I love this spot. I’ve been shopping here for a few years and I really like the selection of knives and every type of culinary equipment. I’m saddened that they moved from their 17th st. location which is nearer to my place of employment.

I love this kitchen supply place. They have everything. Great to stock a new kitchen– at much cheaper prices the Sur La Table. Also great options for professional equipment and knives. Also, depending on where you are it can save you a trip to the Bowery.

The lettering on the window may say, «Manhattan RESTAURANT Supply, Inc.», and Google maps may tell you that the address is 131(not 127) West 26th — but rest assured, this IS the store you are looking for, and you can stop trying to find 131 West 26th(because it doesn’t exist). This place is full of bulk kitchen wares for the commercial customer, typical of the sort you’ll find scattered throughout Chinatown and below 14th Street. I found my way here because I was hunting for butane canisters that would fit my Iwatani cooking torch, and was too lazy to go anywhere that required me to transfer to another train. Thankfully, MKS sat a few mere blocks off the 1 train station at 28th, and I was able to pick up a 4-pack of butane for $ 10.95(it’s not the Iwatani-brand, but it works with Iwatani torches just as well, despite what the package says). There’s also all the other odds and ends that may serve a home cook well, although I don’t really think this is what they are geared for; lots of people coming in and out with bulk orders during my short time there.
