Margoth Consignment Shop

The owner and employees are all really nice except when it comes to consignment. I consigned 2 christian dior shoes a while back and came back later to check up on them. The owner told me she will have to check and call me back. She never did. I came back a 2^nd time about a month or 2 later and she again told me she is writing checks for everyone and will give me a call. I came back a 3^rd time and spoke to a male employee who told me he will call me back the next day. I got a phone call to find that my shoes were donated because it didn’t sell. I was furious because of my constantly checking up on my item. I understand them donating it when it didn’t sell for a long time, but I feel like on top of my checking up on my shoes and as courtesy they should have notified me about this prior to the donation. I see this as them stealing more than $ 600 from me. If your going to consign your items make sure you check up on it constantly and don’t take the owners word about calling you back!

This is a great, small, designer consignment boutique. I bought an Akris blazer and a Brooks Brothers parka here and have gotten years of wear out of both of them. On a more recent visit a woman working there who might have been the owner convinced me to try on an unusual skirt. It really wasn’t my style but she wouldn’t let up about it, using very aggressive tactics and all but bullied me into buying it — I mean, it’s like she brainwashed me! That’s never happened to me before or since. I’ve never worn the skirt and it’s been taking up valuable closet real estate ever since. The times I’ve shopped there when there was just the young man who let’s me look at what I want to look at have been very successful shopping ventures. If I go back and the woman is there I will just have to be on guard and be willing to even be rude if I need to in order to resist her advances.

Absolutely amazing people. I’ve bought a large jacket and 2 purses from here. Both have turned out really well. In addition the service is just really amazing. I’d definitely also check out their jewelry section. They have a pretty nice selection. Wish I found this place sooner. Margoth the owner and Chris are both great!!!

I came across Margoth when I was looking at consignment shops online. I’m a pretty big consignment freak so I feel like I know the landscape extremely well in Manhattan, and so I’m always looking for new «go-​tos» to add to my typical repertoire.
I was wow’d by the maintenance of the store — the organization is extremely neat and all the clothes are well-​organized. The two guys working there when I walked in were extremely nice and helpful without being pushy. A lot of higher-​end consignment shops really have to work on their welcoming skills, but these guys totally didn’t.
I was looking specifically for a purse, and I found out that they actually sorta specialize in purses since they maintain a large selection — and the range went from Chanel to Michael Kors handbags. I ended up not finding what I wanted specifically, but I’ll be back for more.

Sad to reveal and review this place but I have to. Great customer service, clothes and accessories in perfect condition. Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Prada and other huge names for ridiculously reasonable prices. Yes please!

This store is so amazing. A definite hidden treasure in NYC and I am glad I walked in their doors. I am from Los Angeles and i know good fashion and this consignment shop is jaw dropping. My mother and I are proud customers and will be back in the future. This place has the sweetest workers that do not rush you to purchase anything because they do not have to, they have merchandise that sells its self.

It’s unfortunate that the woman who works here (perhaps she’s Margoth? Or maybe that is an amalgam of names) has a disdainful attitude. I went in while I was walking my dog and evidently, while he’s not large, he’s «too big for the store». Hello? Is this a co op board? A restaurant? Nope.

So I bookmarked a bunch of consignment stores and planned a day to check them all out. Most of the ones on Madison Ave were way too snooty for me. They had horrible service, open dressing rooms and noses way too high up in the air. Margoths was cozy and nice, the lady was so helpful and there was a bunch of stuff. I got Manolo’s for 100 and Feregamo shoes with a sweet discount on top of the already crazy prices and beautiful ring that I wear all the time. Definitely going back.

A great store, with so many great finds. It’s run by the owner and her family, and they’re all so very nice! It’s a treasure trove of so many designer items!
