Good food, small bar selection and bad service. Although the food was good, it was very pricey and drinks were too. The waiter was rude and was appalled when we asked for separate checks(we were on business so we needed itemized receipts). It is all computerized so I don’t get the big deal. I had a $ 13 strawberry martini, good but not for that price. I do have to say that the lobster ravioli was very good and the others like their food as well. Probably wouldn’t go back, but good Italian.

Massimo’s us back in track. I believe for some time operating two restaurants diluted the quality at Ponte Vecchio but now that they are concentrating full time on one restaurant all seems to be back to normal at this classic Italian cuisine establishment. No TV stars to boost ratings here, just traditional osteria cuisine served impeccably. Amazing appetizers, notable items the portabello, zucchini blossoms buffala etc pastas cooked al dente and for meat eaters the items are amazing. No ketchup on premises so please don’t ask like one fellow non foodie did at a dinner a few years back

No idea what the other reviewer is talking about. Great service and great pasta. The puttanesca is SO good and every appetizer I’ve had has been delicious.

This place is beyond mediocre. Over priced and nothing special. I’d stay away from this one.

It’s good food, but come to enjoy a Meal… don’t stumble in(I realize that in the neighborhood it’s almost a prerequisite to be ready for this). Our waiter knew Italian food and was polite(gave us free sambuca after our meal). This isn’t the Olive Garden people, No unlimited soup and bread to shove into your maw. Go here with a date who’ll enjoy fresh Gnocchi that’ll melt in their mouth. And if you lip off about the TV showing soccer, then expect them not wanting you there… and as a customer, I don’t want your lip, or impatience(as seems to be relevant in other Unilocaler’s reviews), there either.

I went here with my best friend for an early birthday dinner. We were going to a show around the corner, and we were both hankering for some Italian food.(that’s why we’re BFFs) We settled on this place on a whim, it looked good and we had some time to kill. When it comes to Italian food, we don’t screw around. She had the Arugola, Caprino e Pere, and I had the Carpaccio di Manzo. I was too consumed with my appetizer to ask her what she thought of hers, but seeing as she cleared the plate, it must have been good. We decided on a bottle of wine before our entrée, and our waiter was really helpful in pairing our wine to our entrée. She had the Gnocchi Giganti Tartufati and I had one of the specials, veal cutlets in white wine reduction. Everything was delicious. Gnocchi made to perfection and the veal was just as succulent as the meals my grandmother would prepare for me as a child. By this point, there was no stopping us from having a dessert and some sambuca. Tiramisu, tartufo and two glasses of sambuca. A no-brainer for us. After we finished out sambuca, the waiter came back with two more glasses on the house! Maybe they changed the management or waitstaff, because the food and service we received was five stars. I know what you’re thinking, if everything was five stars, why am I deducting one? If five means as good as it gets, that means it is better than my grandma’s. I could never do that to her!

The food here is excellent, and I must admit I didn’t expect it to be when we sat down. It was one of those situations in which it was late, we were hungry, and had rejected about 7 other options already for stupid reasons and just wanted to eat something for f’s sake. For some reason the menu made me thing it was going to be one of those disappointing, barely mediocre Italian meals. We liked our waiter very much instantly, though the other reviewers were right that the service is on the slow side. The food was so good, thought, that it didn’t matter. We weren’t in any huge hurry once we had a glass of wine and some bread in front of us. One cool thing is that you can get ½ orders of any of the pasta dishes on the menu. I ordered a ½ order of the special pasta, which was homemade fettucine with garlic, olive oil, sundried tomatoes, olives and capers and GOODHOLYGOD was it good. My husband had a ½ order of penne with ricotta and sausage, which was a pink sauce, and that was also fantastic. I had roasted pork for my main, which was super tender and sort of shredded itself under my fork. My husband ordered the grilled chicken and that was even better. Bottom line — excellent Italian food. And I would like to point out here that I am ½ Italian and am therefore an expert. Plus I’ve been to Italy 4 whole times, so… I’m really more of an authority than an expert. I’m probably *the* authority. So trust me, won’t you?

Massimo’s, as I call it, is one of those hidden gems in NYC. I discovered it 12 years ago and have been going multiple times a year since. I have brought everyone I know here. The food is exceptionally good Italian and consistent. They know how to cook pasta here; it truly is al dente. The penne alla vodka is made to order, an important fact, as most restaurants do not make it to order. You can tell by the taste. I find the service to be very good. The owner is usually there and is friendly. The gnocchi with gorgonzola is wonderful, and so is the mushroom ravioli. I also love however they prepare baby artichokes. Excellent restaurant.

If you have a stomache the size of an infant and the patience of a saint eat here. I’ve never waited so long for so little. Our presence was clearly an annoyance to the owner/manager and he made that clear by making us wait 20mins before taking our order at which time I got up and sought him out. We waited another 20 from when we ordered a bottle of wine and app before I again got up to ask if we could order dinner. another 25 mins elapsed before our pasta came. It was fine. Not extraordinary but not bad. But it was what I imagine you’d serve a 5 year old! Tiny portions. We seriously left and had pizza right after.

This place looked cool from the outside, but I guess looks really can be deceiving because the food was awful. We started with fried zuchini and the antipasto plate. The zucchini was bland, tasteless and anything but lightly fried(as specified by the menu). We had to ask for a side of sauce simple to ease the pain of consumption. The sauce that we were presented with was watery and just as tasteless as the zucchini. The antipasto was even worse. It was comprised of 3 paper thin slices of italian meat, wilted basil, and a few uneven pieces of cheese that could have come out of the Gristedes clearance dairy case. Our entrees, just as disappointing. I had the beef ribs while friends had the pasta with bolognese, chicken milanese and spaghetti carbonara. All were bad… at best. To top it off, we weren’t asked about desert, nor whether we enjoyed our food or not. Consequently, we were not able to express our disatisfaction before being presented the bill, which felt eerily reminiscent of being mugged.

Ehh, service was pretty nice, very friendly and knowledgable staff. Portions were a little on the small size considering what we paid, no refills on the water, and diet Coke seemed flat. Other than that, not a bad place, very small, intimate, quiet, popular with the tourists, nestled on shady Macdougal Street.

Stumbled into MaPV after finding a crazy wait at Luda. Nice atmosphere — our waiter was a little forgetful but not overly so. The pasta with garlic and mushrooms was amazing! The tiramisu was awesome. Decent wine list and lots of selection for veggies and non-veggies alike.

We randomly chose this place for dinner, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The food was very good. The service was not only good and friendly, but it was actually fun. Our waiter was knowledgeable and fun. The décor and ambiance was cozy and warm. Lots of dark wood. Will definitely go again.

So yummmmmy and super cozy. Just wandered in here completely on a whim. What a rewarding surprise. Our waiter was just great; entertaining, witty, knowledgeable and attentive. They were out of the wine we wanted so he made a recommendation that we ended up loving. We loved it so much, in fact, that we ordered a second bottle after quickly downing the first. The pasta was perfect, not doughy or rubbery — just good full flavor. And the tiramisu. Ohhhhh, mama. That’s good eatin’. It was light, fluffy and had the most impeccable texture. Just amazing. The restaurant is cozy and quiet, but not so quiet that you feel intimidated to carry on a lively conversation at your table. Great for couples and small groups. Can’t wait to go back…

wow. bad service. there were probably four tables with customers, and four waiters and waitresses, but somehow they lacked to give us the check while we waited forever. i got frustrated. the food was okay. it was good but not spectacular. the only thing good about this place is that in the midst of all the crazyness that is the village, this is the only nearly empty quiet place we found. i guess now i know WHY it had no customers.
