Love the Doctors at Medical Imaging! They are the best of the best! Dr. Levy is a genius at what she does and I cannot say enough about Dr. Tapper! When my sister saw her and needed a biopsy Dr. T handled her with the utmost care and compassion. She took her time and explained the procedure in order to calm my sister’s nerves. Thankfully the results were negative but it was Dr. Tapper’s kindness that got her through it. And let’s not forget Dr. Levy who reviewed the case adding a second pair of eyes. Worth every penny the piece of mind that comes with two sets of eyes on all your imaging!

The office is extremely organized, very clean and cares for patients to the fullest. They welcome you, have snacks while you wait, and the physicians are very thorough and take their time reviewing and that’s why there’s a wait two physicians look at your case and review so that’s double eyes looking to make sure they agree. I your called back for another image he next day (which I read on a comment) they explained that the second doctor that reviewed wanted t be clear on something they saw. So again, very thorough. Better safe than sorry. Dr. Tapper is great when it comes to seeing her patients in a timely manner but all probably are. Great office!

I have been going here for many years and normally have a good experience. The facility is clean, the staff efficient, and the location, for me, ideal. This time, though, I had a technician who probably made an error, causing me to return for another mammogram the next day, which on top of the $ 525 I paid the day before, added another $ 285. I have Medicare and they had opted out, but they do give a discount. My gripe was, I think the technician screwed up, but how to prove that? I had no choice but to pay again, and endure the «squeeze-​o-​gram» once again. I could have told the doctor that there probably was «pilot error» but she needed to cover her a. so she had me suffer another mammogram. Not sure if I’ll go back there.

This practice is professional enough and gets the job done. The wait can be reprehensibly long, but that is not unique to them. However, what prompted me to leave their practice is Dr. Tapper’s arrogant disregard for following the prescription as written by my ob/​gyn. Instead, she repeated another test that my ob had already done and that was quite costly. Whatever her opinion, when the patient says «I’ve just had that test, please do the one that my referring Dr. has prescribed,» Dr. Tapper would do well to either follow the ‘script as written, or phone the referring doctor while the patient is there. I left their practice because Dr. Tapper’s behavior regrettably supported the ugly idea that doctors are too often motivated by money over and above the patient’s best interest.

Dr. Helene Tapper has been my radiologist for years. There are other doctors in this practice, which is well known and highly regarded.
Obviously, the most important thing is the doctor’s skill. I would recommend Dr. Tapper to anyone. She has a lot of experience and is pleasant and businesslike to deal with. In addition, the practice as a whole uses the most advanced technology, which is important in radiology.
The office is a real pleasure (I know that sounds insane). There’s free wi-​fi, Hershey’s kisses, and cups of cold water in the waiting area. The changing area is thoughtfully arranged, with lockers and more snacks. The technicians, receptionists, and administrative staff are friendly and professional.
The cons: The place is a maze; don’t be afraid to ask for directions to find your way out. They don’t take insurance, so you have to pay after your visit and submit the claim yourself. There is a separate appointment system for booking biopsies, should you need one, and I have had trouble getting them to call me back; the regular appointment system is flawless. They make you fill out the same damn paperwork every time you visit. I’m sure there’s a reason for this, but if nothing has changed in the last six months…
And, yes, sometimes you have to wait. This may help: They book lunchtime appointments for routine sonograms; I was in and out today in little over a half hour.
None of these cons changes the 5-​star rating.

The first trick to getting a mammogram and ultrasound is to schedule and go to the appointment. The second trick is to get it read by an expert. These guys are the BEST!!! Medical Imaging of Manhattan (Miriam Levy’s shop) on Madison Ave was recommended by my ob-​gyn and that’s the group that found my friend’s tiny malignant tumor. So tiny that the radiologist said it wouldn’t have shown up on a mammogram for another year. In fact, when she was getting prepped for her lumpectomy yesterday (which went really well as her nodes are clear!), the radiologist prepping her asked her «who read your ultrasound? who found this?» because he told her that it was the smallest tumor he had ever seen. Also, push to get both a full mammogram AND a full ultrasound. You might have to pay for the ultrasound because insurance might not pay for it. But ask for it. My ob/​gyn in NYC insisted I get both once a year. And my friend’s doctor did the same thing. And the Medical Imaging group found this tiny tumor in the ultrasound not the mammogram. These guys are tops. They were also apparently the very first place in the states that was FDA approved to use the digital mammograms.
