After writing my review the owner Bruce, found my phone number from an employee at his store on Amsterdam Ave. Bruce reached out to me and arranged for Marshall to come and do the repair, when I received the part. Marshall came at the designated time and did a terrific job. It took little time to fix, but a lot of time getting to the end of the situation. Thank you Bruce and Marshall.

I just had a custom-made cornice and some of my existing drapes rehung and I am very happy with the results. I must admit, I was sort of holding my breathe about how it would all turn out. Staff at the store didn’t seem too interested in providing much help, although I was kind of glad they weren’t too pushy(Pushy is not good, but I thought they would show a little more guidance and I was surprised they didn’t follow up when I asked to see a sample of some ready-made valances(which I had considered puchasing in addition to the custom cornice. They had a sample of the fabric sent from main store in NJ, but never inquired as to whether I wanted to purchase it or not.) The staff were all«nice enough» and the installation crew, Pablo and Steve, were top notch, but I expected a bit more communication as to progress of my order, etc.(I called several times and even stopped in store to ask when order would be ready, and they kept saying they would get back to me and didn’t.)

Don’t make same mistake I made. If you want custom, they will assist you. If you want ready made, and they advertise that they have 3,000+ styles, don’t bother coming to showroom. You need to deal directly with their warehouse online and perhaps the Nj store can help. The sales people in store won’t assist you. BTW, there were no other customers in the store. Will take business elsewhere. Even custom.

We bought motorized shades and spend a few thousand dollars for their custom work. Both motorized parts kept failing and the shades were pretty poorly measured since they were a little long in one of the bedrooms. Customer service is appalling, there is no management and each designer is left to manage their clients as they see fit(normally neglect and dodging calls). Strong avoid

I have a lot of experience working with decorators and having furniture recovered. I tried this place because it was conveniently located for my very simple chair recovering needs. I received the worst possible service. I had to pay for an estimate– which is absolutely unheard of — i checked other businesses. It took over a month to get a simple answer to a question about getting an antique chair fixed. I was told there was no fabric at the price or in the style I wanted– yet they had tons of books, no one could take the time to look through. i ended up buying my own fabric at Zarin fabrics which is perfect and less than half the price. i have a feeling the owner of this business has no idea what goes on in the city store and should. There are so many places to chose for furniture and window treatments — I felt it was important to share this review. Metropolitan Window Fashions needs to understand successful businesses are run on the concept that good customer service must exist at every price range– small jobs lead to word of mouth and bigger jobs. The staff is very short sighted.
