It’s on par with La Brochette. I think the ambiance is nicer at La Brochette but the food is equally as tasty. What I especially loved about this place was that the… Read our full review on our kosher blog:

The food was cold, the portions small, the staff pretentious, the price high. Besides that what other choice do you have for up-scale kosher?

Ever since Levana closed years ago this has become my go-to kosher restaurant in Manhattan. The prices are still steep, but the food is ridiculously good.

I enjoy trying new places. I had never been to Mike’s before. I had always wanted to try this place, when they were further up town. My friend asked us to join them. We had made reservations via Opentable and were seated immediately. The waiter was both attentive and informative. There were many items on the menu that I wanted to try. I had the veal sweetbreads for app and beef short ribs as my main course. My wife had duck lollipops for her app and lamb chops as her main. Needless to say, I tried all 4. Flavors were amazing! I generally don’t eat dessert, especially due my issue with lactose. Being a kosher restaurant that serves meat, the desserts are all dairy free. I jumped at the opportunity to end with hot chocolate. I also had the apple cake. Wow! What a superb meal.

If I had to chose one meal for the rest of my life it would be the Côte De Beouf steak at Mike’s. It’s hard to find a good kosher steak anywhere. This place makes you feel like you are not missing anything by being kosher. Quality and consistent execution, great service, good ambience and excellent food. My favorite place in the city, hands down.

Honestly! One of the best all time meals! Kosher or non! You cannot get a better steak(seasoned and cooked to perfection) or better service anywhere! And completely packed on a Weds night at 10PM!

Great ambiance & service but the food is highly overrated, especially for the cost. Most of the dishes were mediocre and the waiter even took it upon himself to send back one of the appetizers

I must say I love this restaurant and have never been disappointed. Mike is a great chef and a very discreet owner. I have eaten in the old 72nd St. location and the new 54th St. location many times and have not once been disturbed by Mike coming over and interrupting my culinary enjoyment to say hello or anything else. Some of the dishes are to die for. When I see a negative review for Mike’s on Unilocal I think the writers are inhabiting a parallel universe.

I really wanted to love this place. While the ambiance is gorgeous, the food was tremendously underwhelming. I ordered a $ 50+ steak, which was TINY, and not that tasty, as well as a blueberry crisp, which was served in a shot-glass sized portion, with a paucity of blueberry, for $ 11. The waiter also seemed to forget about us and it took nearly 45 minutes after we finished our paltry meal to get the cheque. After paying a boat load and leaving hungry, we satiated ourselves with some chunky burgers nearby.

1st time dining at the new location and it was a fabulous meal! Had a special mini-lamb rib app that was incredibly flavorful — I’m still dreaming about the lusciousness of it. Other apps we had — 2 different beef tartars — divine; a very high quality ceviche; and their famous duck gnocchi. Everyone raves about the short ribs — and I’ll join them — they’re so soft and smooth that a butter knife is all you need… Service was good. The dining room design didn’t really excite me. It’s pricey, but if you’re looking for a high end kosher meal you cannot go wrong at Mike’s Bistro!

Three of us ate at Mikes for lunch today which is a $ 75 pre fix menu. It is basically the same food but switching out your protein of choice in the main course. I imagine this works really well with a business lunch meeting because you do not have to worry about eating preferences. Two of us got the tuna and it was really good. The other got the chicken which had good flavor. Beyond the protein everything was good but not spectacular — except the soup was spectacular! Service was good. Worth trying when in the mood for a slightly longer meal to entertain clients.

Good stuff. I like the fact they were in a great location near my hotel. I actually found it through Unilocal

Excellent food, excellent service. Quite expensive(I had the REALLY great rack of lamb appetizer, the salmon, and the blueberry dessert, with a couple of cocktails — $ 116, before tip), but worth it. The clientelle is quite diverse — some haredi-looking guys with payes, some high-powered finance guys. Ever since I became 95% kosher(meaning, I don’t necessarily seek rabbinical approval), I have had to become vegetarian when eating out, so this was quite relaxing…

Mike’s Bistro has moved from the Upper West Side to midtown. Right where I like it. Love to eat but don’t like to travel to get there. This place is so hopping that you can barely get a reservation for 6 months. See Amy about that. She is superb and sharp and will help you plan an evening or more. We just hosted a dinner for 25 and got that wonderful private room in back. They set us up with three tables instead of one. We took the main table in middle and had the speakers do their thinh from there. The options or selections for the prix fixe dinner were superb. Had the veal and it was beyond delicious. Who eats veal anymore? But they knew how to prepare it and I also enjoyed a great soup. Potatoes, Mushrooms — who’s counting. Scrumptious. Is that a word? I think so — and you should only use it to describe food. The wait staff is very accomodating and most of them spoke English. Sometimes I wonder if I still do. Did you ever try to get service at a Sprint location. Recommend highly — well placed, well served, well eaten.

This is probably the top Kosher Restaurant in the city as far as quality and execution . Menu is of a sophisticated Steakhouse type with some great seafood options as well. We tried their shortribs and it was unbelievable, you could cut the delicious meat practically with a spoon, the Ribeye served on a sizzling platter was a perfect Medium Rare and definitely a home run… The sweetbread appetizer as well as the lamb dumplings were a delight. You can tell that their cooks take their business very seriously. Service is very knowledgeable, professional and courteous and the atmosphere is casual elegant with a husstle bustle feel but in a nice way.

We had a delicious meal here! Food to order: Duck gnocchi(AMAZING) Beef carpaccio(I don’t ever order this, but here it was extremely delicious) And. Drumroll please. Short ribs(this takes the prize for the night) And this restaurant is kosher! Which is pretty impressive! We had a beautiful and delicious meal with wonderful service!
