Okay slice that’s best suited for a post-drinking slice(it’s open late) than a two slice and a soda lunch or dinner. The cheese and sauce are fairly balanced but there’s not just enough spice/flavor. Crust is standard. Next time I’ll be back there’s a 99% chance I’ll be drunk.

I love Mimma’s!!! This is your typical little pizza joint… nothing fancy at all… a few little tables with red and white checked vinyl table clothes and an ATM machine. Why you ask? Cause the place is situated in the heart of what I call«fraternity row»…Mustang Grill, Tin Lizzie, Dorrian’s, and the rest of those places… Thursday through Saturday there’s a stream of drunk 20-somethings running around. Did I mention Mimma’s is open til 4:30 ish? This has absolutely nothing to do with why I love it. You’ll be deceived by what it looks like, where it’s situated, and it’s décor, but Mimma’s IS by far the best pizza on the UES… yeah you may like Totonno’s but that’s like a gourmet pie. Mimma’s is real NY pizza! They do deliver but unfortunately not far from 84th and 2nd. :(

I lived just around the corner from this place when I interned last summer. As Phil M. said, its mostly a takeout kinda place. A couple wobbly tables, although I believe there is an upstairs… though I have no idea why. I went here once or twice a week last sumer, but I must admit, I only had thin crust once. So I can’t comment on what many new yorkers prefer. I can say, however, that the sauce is absolutely amazing. Very sweet, and if you prefer slightly more sauce than the average pizza joint gives you, then you will enjoy Mimma’s pizza. I highly recommend a slice of chicken pizza. One is all you need. It’s huge, covered in small pieces of quality chicken, with great sauce and solid cheese. Definitely the kind of place only neighborhood folks would know about. Not the kind of place you walk by and say, wow, I gotta go here sometime. However, it is rather tasty, and worth a couple bucks.

Solid, decent, very thin-crust, pizza… I’ll usually get a slice of sausage and another slice of… PINEAPPLE! mm mm mmm =) the plain and the pepperoni are pretty good, too… a little oily, and not too much cheese The most crowded I’ve seen this place is at 4am… This is my go-to place to grab a late-night snack(since Papaya King closes at midnight! argh!) I swear I get pizza here at least 2−3x/week *ugh…my arteries… clogging…*

Great pizza. Especially at 4:30am. I love NY.

I like to eat New York pizza, because it tastes really good. Having lived in cities that might have just a few good places for a slice, it’s nice to know that this city is littered with great ‘za. Mimma’s is a good example. Tucked unassumingly on the corner of 84th and 2nd, this is basically a take-out spot. There are only a few Formica tables, and they don’t make them inviting. No pomp, no candles, no strolling accordionists – the look of this place simply asks the silent question«Look, you want a slice or not?» But the pizza is solid. I’ve only had the thin-crust plain, but it makes me crave all the other varieties offered. The cheese is usually my favorite part of pizza, but the sauce at Mimma’s is what keeps me coming back.
I walk by Mimma’s all the time(it’s only a few blocks away from my apartment), and its presence makes me question going to a sit-down place with candles and quaint red and white checkered tablecloths. It’s a basic neighborhood temptation; and I think we all need one of those.
