Excellent on all counts. We went for dinner on a Friday night. The service was excellent, with the staff becoming almost invisible to our meal and conversation. Dishes came out more or less as finished, so if you ask for an appetizer consider delaying ordering your primary meal. Went with the chicken wings as a app. They were a little too crispy /breaded for my taste, but the garlic soy sauce had a nice flavor to it. We had the bibimbap — one bulgogi and one veggie(get the bulgogi). I recommend getting in the hot stone bowl. Overall, good solid food with great value and service. Would recommend checking out for a casual meal wth friends or a fun date night in uws!

We were so pleasantly surprised– finally a quality Korean restaurant on UWS! The neighborhood is really coming along. We went last week and found the bibimbap in hot stone, beef bulgogi, kimchi stew, fried chicken, and Korean fried rice to be of equal quality to some of the best Korean eateries in K-Town. Factoring the reasonable prices and location being close to home for UWS’ders makes for a no brainier 5-star rating! To top it off, the waitress misunderstood that we wanted to take home the leftovers, but they felt bad and delivered to our home newly made whole dishes of what we wanted to pack! That’s classy…

I just did NOT expect to get instant ramen noodle when I ordered Spicy Ramen($ 9.95) DRINKS: N/A SERVICE: OK. DECOR/ATMOSPHERE: OK FOOD/PRICE: It had toppings like bulgogi, egg and fish cake on top of the ramen but the noodles were dried/rehydrated instant noodles you can buy for $ 0.80 at Korean grocers. Not even sure the soup was also a powdered instant noodle soup. I just did not expect a restaurant to be serving instant noodles for $ 10. Like I was at a hole in the wall lunch joint in Hong Kong.

We had the vegetable japchae and fried chicken. The food was really good quality, really fresh. The mochi ice cream dessert was delightful Servers were friendly. Definitely would recommend.

Ordered Army Stew and Dduk Mandoo Guk for lunch. To our disappointment, there isn’t a single piece of pork in the Army Stew though the menu stated that pork is included in the dish. We have lived in Korea for a couple of years before and we know that pork is the most essential ingredient to this dish. The waitress insisted that the menu has a typo and there shouldn’t be «pork» in this stew. Makes us wonder if they are even honest with their other meat dishes :(

The best dumplings I’ve had in a long time. Hot stone bibimbop was really tasty too. I had the passion lime soju which was so refreshing.

I was trying to find some korean restaurant around the histel I lived then I found this one with good recommend so me and my friends decided to go. Their food is so tasty I got hot stone spicy pork bibimbap which come with miso soup, the bibimbap is really good, taste like at South Korea. If you leave the stonebowl sit for a bit to make the rice at the bottom will get more crunchy and then you start mixing it. Miso soup is a little bit salty but still good and the staff are very nice tho. Go to this place if you love korean food :)

Ordered seamless from Mokja and was pleasantly surprised! Scallion pajeon(scallion pancake) — average, plain, nothing special, but still tasty. Could’ve used more scallion though. Not so recommended. Beef bulgogi fried rice — comes with a fried egg, beef portion was tiny and not too impressive, but pretty big portion of rice(i would hope so since it’s $ 12!). we were both a fan of this. but beware they use a bunch of sesame oil. Recommended. Yook gae tang(shredded beef with scallions & veggies in spicy sauce) — whoa! did not expect such a yummy and authentic tasting dish from this place so definitely happy about that. The spice and flavor were on point and it’s a pretty large portion that comes with a side of rice. A lot of scallion and shredded beef in there. Definitely recommended! All the orders come with banchan(daikon and kimchi) which is a nice touch :) The kimchi is really good… If you’re craving reasonably priced korean food with decent portions and too lazy to go down to 32nd street — then stop by at Mokja.

I couldn’t be happier that Mokja opened on the UWS and that we finally have a good Korean place in the neighborhood. I was a regular at Korean Express, on the UES, until I moved and sadly they don’t deliver to the UWS. I called recently to check if they could make an exception and they said they opened a sister location, called Mokja, on the UWS. Menu looks identical and they carry my all-time favorite, the spicy veggie and tofu stew. I could eat it everyday and feel happy, health and full. Definitely 5 stars for quality/price/service.

Glad a Korean Restaurant finally opened up in the area. Went for second time, to give it a second chance. My husband and I both ordered the jigae which was much better than what we ordered last time. Few things… need to have lunch specials or discounted lunch prices as does every restaurant in the area. It seems like the waitresses are young kids running the restaurant which is fine. But definitely need to be more attentive. Every time we order, we are asked if we want to add this and that instead of just accepting our order. I even prepared for it on the second time back and sure enough, it’s like a sales pitch. «Are you sure you don’t want to add this… add that?» No… I just want what I ordered. I actually will return because it’s the only Korean in the area, but sure hope the restaurant reads Unilocal reviews and tries to improve.

Glad a Korean Restaurant finally opened up in the area. Went for first time today. Decent food. Just wish they had lunch specials like all the other restaurants in the area. Ordered bimbimbap and bulgogi plate. Friendly waitress and also banchan which was good. Will go back.

Excellent bibimbap with amazing beef bulgogi. I’m addicted to their chili paste. Best Korean food I’ve had in NY so far, and it doesn’t hurt that the restaurant staff are very friendly and attentive. I know I’m going back there again, and bringing everyone with me.

This place is legit. Coming from a Jewish guy who grew up in an extremely Korean neighborhood, this bipimbap is on point. Gochuja city with kimchi that keeps those lips tingling yet begging for more. If you’re looking for some bitchin bugagi or any pickled lemon up the moon on the UWS, this is your spot baby.

My friend and I really enjoyed their fried dumplings, hot stone bibimbap, & beef bulgogi box meal. True story: order directly from their website , and you get 10% off every order. While they’re still awaiting their liquor license, ordering from their website may be the best way to try their food(well-stocked liquor cabinet implied). My friend who lives around the corner said that there’s nothing in the area quite like Mokja. We’ll definitely order again.

So excited to have good Korean food in the neighborhood! We just had a lovely lunch, starting with the traditional complementary side dishes(bean sprouts, fishcakes, kimchi, and pickled radish) then shared kimchi jeon appetizer — with lots of veggies, kimchi & scallions — crispy and just right. I had the hot stone vegetarian bimbimbap and my daughter had the soft tofu stew. We added the traditional spicy chili sauce to both dishes(the stew needed it) and we both were satisfied. The waitress was very nice — came to check on us and refilled side dishes. Had good lemon ginger tea. I am looking forward to going back and bringing family and friends along!

My first review. In town to visit friends and craving some korean, went to the closest spot we could find. Pleasantly surprised with the food and service. Prices were fair, food was delish. Traditional korean menu highlighted with some good fusion dishes. Kimchi fries were very good! Met the owners(great guys)… apparently it’s their second or third branch, and was treated very kindly and generously. Good option for those living on the upper west since there aren’t many korean options close by. Highly recommended.

Almost a 2 hour wait for delivery. And they’re four blocks away. Not very impressive. The food is good. Nice to have a Korean restaurant in the area. Reasonable delivery service would earn them another star.

Ordered yook gae jang, kimchi & pork platter, and fried chicken wings(garlic sauce) via Seamless. All three dishes were delicious, fresh, and not too greasy — and the wings are better than those from Koko Wings. Really happy that a Korean restaurant that delivers to the Manhattan Valley neighborhood opened!

New Korean place in Manhattan valley/upper west side!!! I’m so happy a Korean place opened up here, and the best part is… it’s delicious! Their banchan, they have this yellow Japanese pickle that they mix with scallion and sesame seeds is amaaaaaazing. I couldn’t stop eating it. You get the banchon whenever you dine in! We started with the dumplings. The Korean dumplings are fried all over and they edges are my favorite. I got the vegetable tofu stew(soondubu!), it was chock full of tofu and veggies and at least 2 different types of mushrooms. I wish it was a little bit spicier, but it definitely satisfied my craving on a cold winter night. My husband got the army stew… highly highly recommended. It has eveeeeerything in it. Seriously, everything. It had a great complex flavor to it, spicy and savory with just a little sweetness to bind it all together. It paired really well with the rice, and my husband said it was like a never ending pot of soup. Every spoonful brought up more sausage or veggies or stuff! The rice came in metal bowls and was perfectly cooked. The service was impeccable. The waitresses came by to check if everything was all right and filled our waters a couple of times but were never intrusive. Love this addition to the UWS!!! Our stomachs were bursting by the end of the meal, welcome to the neighborhood!
