I was here just about 2 weeks ago. After having been and enjoyed at least twice before. This last time I had a chicken burrito which was good and the made to order guacamole which was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive. I met up with a friend this past Saturday, intending to treat her to dinner at Mole– only to discover that it was closed! Not just closed for the day but either being renovated or simply gone for good. I can’t tell. It was a nice little place. I am so surprised to see it look all unraveled.

This place has fantastic food… and the mole sauce is awesome! A tad bit on the pricier side. which is why it doesnt have my five stars. Recommend — the empanadas, the burrito, the steak. all topped up with tequila margaritas… and they dont hold the tequila Def get the flan. its to die foe

Was my first time here and we decided to celebrate Cinco de Mayo at this place… Waiters are very nice, no complained about the service… About the food… The ceviche was awwww I love it! I went to many mexican restaurants and I had a bad experience with ceviche… Guacamole was ok but overprice(2 avocado for $ 18) This place is good for drinks but not for«autentic» mexican food… My friend ordered the Enchilada with homemade«mole poblano» and was a kind of sweet… We were in shock because the real«mole poblano» is not sweet… Is spicy… We were disappointed about the food…

Really cool Mexican joint — have walked by here a ton of times and finally decided to try. Nice outdoor seating area, and cozy bar. Friendly staff and service was pretty swift — great place to go to share a few apps or even some of the entrees are large enough to share. I had to go with the shrimp ceviche which was amazing! Great drink selection as well — I tried their spiced-up version of a margarita and it was phenomenal! Will definitely make it over there again …

Came here after we had been waiting 2 hrs at Mezetto’s(even with a reservation!) and being treated rather rudely by the staff. We were kind of annoyed and not in the best of moods… but were not disappointed with Móle at all! We turned out having a great time and forgetting the bad experience courtesy of the previous restaurant’s staff. First thing that hits you is the amazing aroma when you enter the place! The staff was very accommodating and quick with their orders; the kitchen brought our food out pretty quickly too. There’s a great selection of food choices to pick from on the menu – for both the meat eaters and veggies. And who doesn’t like Mexican food?! I deff recommend it. Good ambiance for a date or girls night out. Edit: The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the food quality was not equal to the price we paid for it; however they did give us a large portion. so that kind of makes up for it.

2 stars BUT I would like to commend them for being so accommodating– my boyfriend and I didn’t make dinner reservations on a Thursday evening and instead of giving us the boot, the staff sat us within minutes. It was that much more appreciated since Mole, as all of you probably know by now, is a tiny tiny tiny restaurant with seating for maybe 20 people. And the seating arrangement is tight! So thank you for that, Mole! We started off with a shrimp ceviche. The presentation was outstanding– the ceviche was presented in a glass bowl most notably recognized to serve hot fudge brownie sundaes in. And the bowl was topped off with jumbo shrimp and laid on a bed of chips. And my initial reaction was, «Wow, that’s a lot of ceviche» because I thought that the entire bowl had SHRIMP ceviche in it since that is what it is called. But I couldn’t have been any more wrong– the only shrimp was the 5 – 6 that were hanging off the bowl. Inside the bowl was filled with diced onions and tomatoes drowned in red cocktail sauce used to dip cocktail shrimp in. If that’s your thang, then go for it. Needless to say, I was disappointed since I was expecting shrimp ceviche, and not cocktail shrimp. There was a lot of chips that came with the order of shrimp ceviche, so we asked for an order of guacamole. It was very paste-like! It looked and felt and tasted like the pre-packaged guacamole you’ll find in supermarkets. Eek! We begrudgingly continued to our entrée which was a huge serving size for one order of their chicken fajita. It smelled, looked, and sounded amazing on the sizzling plate. It was served with a basket of 4 – 5 soft shell tortillas and a plate of shredded lettuce, black beans, and rice. But it was so salty!!! WOW! We hardly made a dent when we put up the white flags and asked them to pack it to go– I brought it home, added a plateful of broccoli, shoot peas, and rice to make mama some fried rice. The new fried rice concoction that I made with Mole’s chicken fajita was much more delicious. I do not think I will be back nor will I go to any of their other locations in the West Village, Upper East Side, and Williamsurg.

Literally the best fish tacos of my life. HUGE portion, no way little old me could eat the entire plate(3 fat tacos). I think they actually used an entire fish per taco. I believe it was around $ 20 for it, which you’re paying for the good quality and the fact that it’s a huge portion. It’s definitely not street food/food truck prices which it shouldn’t be because it’s not that type of place. It’s a very small restaurant, so get ready to rub elbows with your table neighbor. My spanish friend suggested this spot and enjoyed her enchiladas. This place is a solid gem. And CASHONLY. They know what they’re doing.

Mole, Mole, Moleeeee! I had a great time here. I went around Halloween season and all the severs were dressed in their costumes which was pretty cute. This place is very tiny so, if you were considering coming with a large group, rethink that immediately! I do know that they have a few other locations that may be bigger, but I’m not 100% sure. For drinks we had margaritas that I think were pre-made, but still very good. I cannot recall the name of most of the food we had, but I do know that it was delish. I went with one friend and we tried about 3 – 4 different things. The portions weren’t that big so it ended up being a good thing that we ordered so much. That said, I’m not sure if we were just stuffed by the time it came out, or if it really was a large portion, but the fajitas seemed like a good amount for one person. However, they came with 3 flour tortillas(you have to make them yourself). Because there was two of us we asked if we could have 1 more tortilla so, we could have 2 each. Maybe it was lost in translation, but the server brought out another set of 3 flour tortillas and charged us for it! That was the only mishap for the evening though. Overall, I had a good experience at Mole so, I’d definitely come back.

You’ll get very close to your loved one… and everyone else… in this small storefront restaurant. But what they lack in space, they make up for in big flavor! I inhaled the duck enchiladas in mole sauce almost as fast as the waitress could put down the plate. This dish of the evening’s specials menu is just plain rich through and through. The tender morsels of duck were tasty enough to blend with the mole poblano sauce — chocolaty and peppery, but not sweet or overly hot. Margaritas were also on special — so we were able to sample a few varieties with fresh mangoes or regular with good tequila and a salt rim. I would come back here any day — but perhaps off hours to avoid the squeeze.

The 5 stars are based on my entrée alone. Because it was the Best. Burrito. I. Have. Ever. Had. The super burrito with carnitas(pork) was INCREDIBLE. And enormous, like enough for 2 full meals. I didn’t think any ingredient in a burrito could ever really be crispy but this pork was SO crispy. And juicy at the same time. Heavenly. I can’t stop thinking about it. You are seriously missing out if you like carnitas and pass this up!

Stumbled upon this when Katz was too crowded. We were the only customers but the food was awesome and the servers were nice. I forgot my phone and they kept it for me until I took the bus back down to grab it. So awesome!

Place: The space was small but I went kind of early(5pm) so the place was empty. I was a bit confused because all the employees kept going out of the restaurant for some reason. Maybe there was an inspector there because they temporarily all left outside. Food: I ordered chorizo taquitos as my appetizer. For dinner I ordered a chicken chimichanga and shared it with my date because it was big. I wasn’t impressed by the food or the prices. The chimichanga was okay(I’ve had better). The food was terribly overpriced. Payment: CASH only I went here for my birthday because I was craving Mexican food and I have to say I was a little disappointed. I will probably try a different restaurant next time I’m craving Mexican food.

Decently good food, but its sooooo tight inside. Pricey so if you’re to go go for an early dinner and or late one. 5 – 7 its so cramped you’ll be bumped y every passer by. It gets warm here fast no matter the season. The sister restaurant on Jane is much more roomy.

Me and my friend ordered some food from here to be brought to a bar we were drinking at and it was some of the worst Mexican I’ve ever had. The plantains were SUPER sweet due to the sauce they used. Plantains are naturally sweet, they don’t need all that extra sugar. They were also very mushy even taking into account the fact that they were delivered in a container. The beef empanadas have cheese in them, which wasn’t mentioned on the menu. That was awesome because my friend can’t have cheese, so he wasn’t eating that. And it tasted so cheap, the cheese, the shell itself, and there wasn’t much meat inside. I hate to accuse a place of using frozen foods but this is honestly what it tasted like. And the pico de gallo was a joke, so bland. As were the soft shell tacos. Both the carnitas and the steak tacos were dry and tasteless. They did give a salsa on the side that wasn’t really helping the situation in terms of taste. The meat should have some juices to provide a little moisture.

The first thing you must know: this place is tiny. I mean like 10 tables tiny. We did not know this before coming here for dinner with a party of 15 people. However, they somehow were able to squeeze us all in at a table in the corner and surprisingly it all worked out. The ambiance is traditional mexican with decorations to go along with the theme and there is a long bar in the middle of the restaurant. They have an interesting drink menu but the drinks are quiet pricey. For apps we got guac which was probably one of the best guacs I’ve had in a while — very chunky and fresh. For dinner I got the pork tacos which were AMAZING. The pork was so tender and flavorful and the rice and beans were cooked to perfection. Everyone else really loved what they got as well. We didnt order dessert however someone got the tres leches cake which was moist and dense — delicious. Would definitely come back soon!

Had lunch with my cousin here on a Saturday afternoon a week ago. The place was empty, but slowly got a little packed. It is pretty small, so don’t expect a big restaurant or anything. The food is really delicious, most of the dishes on the menu were labelled vegetarian. My cousin ordered vegetarian Nachos. We chose to include steak and beans. Yes, beans; last I checked, all nachos came with beans, but whatever. I ordered the Tacos with guacamole(so delicious!). The tacos were filled with chorizo and potato. But it’s not a dish you can share. It only comes with two tacos, each cut in half. There’s a massive dollop of guacamole, which is the best I’ve had in a while, on top. The only downside: it’s cash only, so leave the plastic at home!

The food was great. I gave it 3 stars because they gave me a hard time about splitting a check for one person. They eventually did split the check but made it seem like the biggest deal in the world. Get over it and split the check.

The reviews for Mole are all over the place and I can see why… The place is small, cramped, and potentially very busy. I could see things like orders getting mixed up… and I could see how some people could be offended by the prices(I’ve eaten in rural Central America, so I know how far a few dollares or colones can go and yet provide great food). But this is Manhattan where the prices are usually high but never an indication of the quality of the food… My daughter and I were spending a weekend in Manhattan catching shows and experiencing the culinary gamut of the neighborhoods. We dropped into Mole because she couldn’t remember what a mole sauce was like. She never realized in had chocolate in it. I ordered the Mole Enchiladas and she ordered the fish tacos. The mole sauce at Mole does not disappoint if you are looking for a rich savory, chocolatey sensation. My only complaint would be they didn’t use enough ancho in the sauce, The chicken in the enchiladas was fantastic. I managed to clean my plate and eat one of my daughter’s fish tacos. I live in Colorado and, despite being land-locked, we have a crazy number of fish taco joints. This was easily the best fish taco I’ve had. Of course, I live in Colorado, so maybe I haven’t had they great of a fish taco but this was better than anything in Lodo or Boulder. The price seemed a touch high, but we paid more for a really crappy meal two days before in the Theater District. Overall, I was quite satisfied and will go back on future trips to old New Amsterdam.

Native California = Mexican Food Fanatic. I have been on the hunt for some tasty, authentic Mexican food in Manhattan. I’ve found others that come close in the outer boroughs, but nothing in the city… until…Móle. I hosted a dinner at this teeny, tiny venue for my friend’s fiesta themed engagement dinner. Not only were the staff extremely accommodating and patient with our rowdy(and extremely intoxicated) crowd, but they were friendly, speedy and endearing. Giovanni was our main server, of course we pretty much occupied the entire back portion of the restaurant so others were helping as well. Our food was everything New York gringo Mexican was not; good, authentic and filling. Yes everything came with a side of rice and beans. Yes the portions were massive. Yes they had specials(ceviche app was SO delish, and fresh). And yes… they were fresh out of my beloved Chili Rellenos, but the fresh seared tuna tacos(another special) were a much better alternative. Great recommendation Gio! Margaritas are great, and strong, at just $ 8 apiece. Place is CASHONLY, but no big deal. It was so good. Everything was great. I can’t wait to go back again!
