Really nice staff and it’s a nice place with good music. Good for casually drinking and talking with friends but don’t bother getting mixed drinks. All my drinks were almost all mixer and barely any liquor. Best to stick to beer or wine or cider or something at this place.

Fantastic, fast service. Has a perfect Cosmo and bowl of chili — piled high w cheese, onions and tomatoes while on a train delay. The service was incredible, fast and very thoughtful. It is a classic pub, but a v good one. Highly recommend.

Call me old fashioned but I love this pub, been popping in for years. A real Irish boozer. What you see is what you get. Great owners, bartenders and staff, friendly atmosphere, conversation. It’s not gourmet(by any standards!) but it’s real and that’s hard to find. Sit at the bar … Meet a friend and enjoy.

Outing 1: Came here for an evening drink on a Wednesday after battling the crowds(and wind) at the Empire State Building. We each got a whiskey that warmed us right up; they didn’t have the selection of Irish whiskeys that I might have expected, but I got a bourbon and my husband just wanted a Jameson, so no complaints here. A pretty respectable number of beer taps, though, for what, for all we knew, was a little hole in the wall. Very friendly atmosphere — clearly either lots of regulars or a bartender who considered everyone his BFF. Based on the camaraderie he struck up with us about an annoying guy at the end of the bar, I’ll pick the second one. Either way, I love both of those in a bar. This is on a block by MSG with two other Irish pubs, and one of them was so loud from the street that we just looked at each other and kept walking, so there’s that. Outing 2: My husband really wanted a good ol’ Irish pub dinner, and his research led him to another pub a couple of blocks from here. We liked the food but found the atmosphere wanting(awfully quiet for happy hour on a Friday), so we decided to come back here for drinks. Here, the atmosphere was perfect — a very pleasant buzz, and that same bartender came over to us and struck up a conversation again. It just felt like, well, a much happier place. Also, just a bit more blue-collar, which we always appreciate. (Interesting point of contrast: Hubs is of mostly working-class Irish descent and SUPER proud of it, and on this particular day, he was wearing a polo shirt with the Irish flag and the Starry Plough. The bartender at the other pub asked him what it was. The bartender at Molly’s walked up, pointed to the Starry Plough and said, «Nice shirt.») Oh, and did I mention that it seemed like literally every employee we interacted with at Molly’s was actually Irish? +1

The beer was cold, but so was the food. The mozzarella sticks were frozen inside. Ek! The staff is nice about it and offered a free round but we were over the situation and left.

Least friendly service I’ve ever had anywhere in the five boroughs. When we arrived, we were interrogated about whether we’d order food, and were warned we’d be made to give up our table if we didn’t and if other customers came to eat. The place wasn’t even crowded. Then when we ordered drinks, I asked what was on tap and the waitress took the menu and shoved it at me without saying a word. After we ordered, she left silently. My buddy and I were laughing about how we felt like pariahs. I absolutely do not recommend this place.

Pros: tasty beer battered chicken tenders, laid-back atmosphere, and super friendly bartender(I believe his name was Sean) who made a deliciously strong margarita. Cons: older clientele(this was a con for me, because I was looking to meet people), small amount of crowded seating. I loved sitting at the bar chatting with the bartender. He gets 5 stars for his snarky personality and for being willing to give me several tips for places to visit during my visit to NYC.

Average bar… scene is ok… bartender is nice. You are not allowed to sit anywhere but at the bar unless everyone in your party orders food. I just had a beer and I can say the bartender was very friendly with an awesome Irish accent. The rest of the scene was kind of drab but if you are into a slow moving night this is a great place !

Our bartender Shaun was great, we loved that guy! The McGargles IPA was very good, and we both had the fish and chips, which hit the spot.

Excellent pub! Bartender knew his stuff and made excellent drinks. Don’t live in the city, but when I come back on vacation, I’ll make sure to go out of my way to have drinks here. Prices were fair, stools were comfortsble, atmoaphere eas an authentic pub experience. Not sure what else I can say!

Irish Pub with a nice, laid-back casual atmosphere. Not at all the neighborhood where I would usually hang out, but I was having lunch with friends and this was supposedly a halfway meeting point. Close to Penn Station and Madison Square Garden, so it gets a mix of tourists and locals. They have a number of lunch specials that are reasonably priced. I had the Shepard’s pie and it was warm and comforting, perfect for a cold day. The server was very nice, as my friend had a few dietary requests, and patiently helped her find something that suited my friend. Overall, very chill lunch spot.

Not sure how it has this high of a rating. Although the male bartender was cordial and on his game, the management here is ABSOLUTELYHORRENDOUS and TRASHY. The ladies room had clogged toilets at 7:00pm at night… It’s not like this is 2am with crowds of drunken idiots. The men’s room toilet seemed to be working so I decided to use it, along with a number of other female patrons. I could hear the manager of the bar speak to one of the women in line. The girl in line warned her I was already using the restroom. All of a sudden — the manager barges in and says«oh you are using the bathroom. Okay… «and proceeds to have a conversation with me while I am using the facilities. If this isn’t the definition of trash, inappropriate, and disrespect, then I don’t know what is. She explains how none of the water is working in the bar and I shouldn’t be using the facilities. There were zero signs that the water wasn’t working, as there were SEVERALOTHER women who also used the men’s bathroom before me. She WATCHEDME as I finished using the facilities, not sure if this is ILLEGAL!!. When I was back by the bar with my COWORKERS, she continued her antics and YELLED that the water isn’t working and I shouldn’t be using the restrooms. I argued back that her establishment is absolute trash and that she did not provide warnings for her patrons. She was an absolute maniac. About 5 minutes later, there were signs about the unavailable restrooms and waitresses guarding the doors. Glad she took my advice to advise customers about the problem. I paid my tab peacefully and left!!! WARNING UnilocalERS– Please refrain from coming to this bar. Try bars like Lucy’s, local, pioneers, juniper, deweys pub… ANYTHING but this bar!!! I’m happy this Irish bar offers a tasty veggie burger. I was a little embarrassed when my friend order a Mexican coffee at this Irish bar. They were happy to make it for her. I think the bartender was more shock when I order an Irish coffee without the cream.

Genuine Irish pub with a great atmosphere! If you don’t feel comfortable here… well, have a drink and you probably will. Close to Madison Square Garden and Penn Station, this place can get packed on nights when there are events, but never so much that you can’t get a drink — the bartenders are all professional and efficient, as well as friendly, and can handle a crowd. The food is typical pub grub, for New York City. That means you might want to try the Salmon Florentine as well as the mozzarella sticks, and nothing on the menu has ever disappointed. The kitchen is open until midnight — an increasing rarity for midtown in ‘the city that never sleeps’. There’s a good selection of beers on tap, and of course lots of mixed drinks. Once in a while, someone has a glass of wine, and so far as I can see no one walks away from it. There are a lot of regulars, but because of the location there are also plenty of tourists and day-trippers, so you won’t feel you’re walking uninvited into someone’s living room. If you’re looking for a place to spend some time before your train or a concert or a Rangers game, this is your place.

Terrible food & terrible service. Went here for lunch meeting with former co-workers and mistakenly ordered the philly cheesesteak wrap(I know it’s an IRISH pub but I wasn’t looking to spend $ 20 on chicken pot pie), and only took 2 bites bc it was all onions and peppers(on a whole wheat wrap??). The Irish waitress came over and asked if I liked it to which I honestly told her NO and asked her to take it away. I’ve worked in the service industry for the better part of my life, and when the food is THAT bad, take the measly $ 10 off the bill to save yourself some embarrassment. I’m TL;DR «AnHonestCrowd’s» posting for other places to go instead of this not so «Wee» mistake. WARNING: Try ANY of the 5 places I was happy to add for you below, rather than go to the AWFUL Molly Wee Pub. Reasons below why. JACKDOYLE’S BAR — 240 West 35th Street(btw 7th&8th Ave) TRACKSRAWBAR&GRILL — 1 Penn Plaza TIRNANOG — 5 Penn Plaza(btw 33rd&34th Street) BLARNEYROCKPUB Rock Pub —(Ave of Americas & W 33rd St) STOUT — 133 W 33rd(Ave of Americas & W 33rd St) Here’s the gist of it. MOLLYWEEPUBHASTHEABSOLUTEMOSTHORRENDOUSSERVICEYOUWILLEVEREXPERIENCE if you sit at any TABLE to be waited on. For a beer at the bar, that’s totally fine. What turned this meal into a nightmare, was that as a vegetarian for over 15 years, I ordered the veggie burger there that I’ve gotten several times, and the waitress gave me a turkey burger! Which I only found out AFTER I digested the first big bite that I happened to take. I ran to the bathroom to puke. And THEYDIDNOTEVENAPOLOGIZE! Instead the owner threatened me. Read on. The only thing this place is good for is a cold drink at the bar. But, if you’re actually hungry, and have the misfortune of being waited on there? Do yourself, your friends, and family a HUGE favor, and leave. You will wait a while for your food, for something to always be different then what you ask for. If you ask them to right the wrong, you will wait again for a long time, while whomever you are with is finished with there meal. There is a waitress there, that I’m very sorry, perhaps she’s the daughter of the owner, because anyone, that i’ve ever spoken to, they all ironically say the SAME thing about this ONE person in particular calling out this awful waitress. She will never smile at you, or EVER check up on you to see if you need anything. I’ve only gone here because of it’s convenient location. But tonight was the last straw, and it’s time, these truths be shared and no longer overlooked. Aside from not getting an apology from feeding a vegetarian meat, after I came out of the bathroom from throwing up, withe eyes and face red, and my stomach all out of whack and hurting from vomiting, feeling sick, the owner was there next to the waitress. And guess what. The owner said to me, again with ZERO apology, that she won’t charge me for the burger.(and right away I said, of course you won’t). Really??? She then, got 5 inches into my face, and said, «oh of course I won’t?) and then threatened me not to come back again. Moments before what led into that, the waitress told her I ordered a turkey burger. I said, I haven’t order turkey anything in over 15 years. Rather then just apologize, that she made a mistake, she actually said, that I’m lying, that I ordered a turkey burger. My friend that treated all of us, was so disgusted with the waitress and in how the owner treated me, that he left a ZERO tip for the horrible waitress, and they will NEVER return either. If you do decide to go, the waitress is very easy to spot. Just look for the one that looks miserable, spreading misery to all that she is in contact with. The owner was threatening, actually got only inches from my face when she verbally attacked me. While I’m here, you might as well know the surprise $ 5 they will add to your meal if you ever share your burger. If they cut it in half, and put on a separate plate, that will cost you a surprise $ 5. If you keep it on the same plate, they won’t charge you. They won’t tell you either until it’s too late, but now you know. If you’re in the neighborhood, and going to the Garden? For better food and service, go to any of the following three, and you will only thank me. Also, on that corner for some reason, there are ALWAYS homeless people hanging around, and have will walk right up s bit to close, and ask you for money. just never stand there trying to get s taxi. that’s when they strike! And there you have it all. The truth and THE longest negative review I’ve ever written.

Molly Wee Pub is the type of place that makes you feel like you are at a hometown joint, right in the heart of Manhattan. There were a couple of things that made me really happy during my hour with Molly. 1. The prices. A glass of pinot noir was $ 5 during happy hour. Most of the time a glass would be twice that price, easily. Bonus points for not turning my teeth purple like some cheap wines will do. 2. The ambiance. On the walls are all kinds of fun Irish memorabilia with poems that lift hearts, invite laughter, and make me gosh darn proud to be Irish(even just a little bit). 3. The accents. If they’re faking it, then they’re darn good at it. More likely, the bartenders are straight from the homeland. I didn’t check out the menu since I only had a little while before my train at Penn Station, but it’s a great place to kill an hour.

I like Molly Wee because I get to hang out at a pub without the massive crowds. I like the Celtic ale, which goes for $ 6.50 a pop. The bar got major bonus points for featuring hockey over basketball on the TVs. I’m no Rangers fan, but I appreciate good hockey. On a side note, our waitress must have been straight in from Ireland because that Irish accent was thick. Can’t get more authentic than that!
