I love coming to this store and ordering from it. They research their wines and search out small vintages from many places around the world. They transport the wines at perfect temperatures and keep them stored the same way.
They offer tastings and if you can you should go to one. You’ll learn something and try some wines you probably would not find anywhere else in NYC.
They have two other locations in case you don’t live in the city. One outside of Philadelphia and the other in Delaware. Well worth a visit if in the area of any of the three.

My favorite wine shop! I wish I lived closer to this store, but I guess it’s a blessing I only get here about once a month, because my wallet would be missing its money.
I love this place because it carries small, unknown producers of serious quality wine… mainly stocking old world wine. This is not your big mass brands store, so if that’s what you like, this place is not for you.
The sales staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and they don’t look down on you if you don’t want to spend a lot on a bottle. In fact, they carry my favorite rose from Italy for all of $ 15 — steal! They introduced me to some delicious dry rieslings, which is now my favorite white wine. Their burgundy selection is excellent and I’ve also been recommended some off beat Italian and German wines… amazing!
Also a great place to visit in the summer on a hot and steamy day, as the temp inside is always a wine friendly 56 degrees!
So, if you’re looking for unique old world vino, Moore Brothers is a must stop!

I do like the temperature and the layout of this store. The staff is very helpful and not at all pushy. They have a so-​so California selection and since I have been in the store before they tend to stick with the same wineries from vintage to vintage.
We were there to taste Ojai wines from the Santa Barbara, Ca. area. The wines from Ojai have seen better days. I used to enjoy them and was hoping to taste a nice rebound, but that didn’t happen.
I was very surprised to experience the nonsense that came from the mouth of the owner. He talks too much, attempting to showcase his knowledge, which ends up just coming off as «know-​it-​all». He corrects, disputes, interrupts and plays a silly little game of not letting a topic fade away. The issue with this scenario is he doesn’t know who he’s talking to and there will be times when his target is someone more knowledgable than him… like today.

I love this place. The staff is helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The wines are all are from small, family owned operations that grow their own grapes and then transform them into wonderful wines. The owners of the store know each winemaker personally and a number of the winemakers visit the store each year to showcase their wines and interact with the customers.

I googled a wine store close to where I had a meeting, and it was raining so I didn’t feel like walking to Eataly wines (thank you).
I was on a mission for a san giovese wine and was directed to two bottles (red and rose) that were excellent. Both bottles came to a grand total of $ 40.
They only stock wines directly from the winery, and the wines were excellent. Staff was so helpful and knowledgeable in the way that doesn’t make you feel like an idiot.
I would post a picture, but I drank all the wine already, and empty glass pictures are gouche.

This store is exceptional and the people that work there are very knowledgable, but cold and temperature controlled (they have fleeces available for customers). The wines available in this store are from France, Italy, Germany, and there are 6 US wines they carry (Cali and Oregon). They try to keep the wine affordable for every day wine drinking. I tried a delicious beaujolais and learned the regions of beaujolais to buy wine from. I would give this store 5 stars but it is a slightly intimidating walking inside.

These people know their wines of course! If you are trying to learn some things about wine. You should really strike up a conversation with them and they will gladly try to recommend something good for your palette. Even learned that sometimes a dry wine can taste sweet! Did not know that! If you’re the neighborhood, definitely use their resources to make you into a wine lover!

Great experience, the wine tastings here are a must try.
You must know going in, that they specialize in Old World wine, you won’t see many California’s here. They have a limited selection, but they have a relationship with each vineyard they carry and import the wines themselves. They are extremely knowledgable and have no problem assisting anyone from an expert, to a newbie.
And now the most important part, their tastings. You can sign up to be notified when they will be having their next tasting, which is not just a few bottles of wine by the register. They have an entire upstairs dedicated to these evenings, and they taste around 6 wines each time. You can drink glass after glass while listening to the owners tell stories of each of the winemakers, from high level wine lingo, to what was paired for lunch with each wine on his last visit. A great experience, and entirely free, no pressure to buy… although you’ll want to continue to support such a well run business.

Exceptional service from an extremely knowledgeable staff. Moore Brothers specializes in estate wines, so you may not see a lot of labels you recognize initially, and they are exclusively «old world,» which basically means German, France, and Italy. If you’re ok with that, then I highly recommend stopping by here. You can easily find wine here for casual drinking without breaking the bank, and we’ve had trips where we’ve left with both $ 10 and $ 90 bottles in tow. I haven’t had a chance to do any of the in-​store tastings, but for the most part, I’ve been pretty happy with what I’ve gotten here based on staff advice alone.

Great wine store but since I’m not usually in the area I’ve only been here for the wine tasting events they host upstairs for a charity organization. They’re a very generous host and their selection is excellent.

One of the best wine shops for table wine in this city. Also they extend their range to some fancier wines, which normally will not exceed $ 100. Fall in love at my first visit with them and their wines. Very professional and nice staff for wine selection and wine events. Reasonable price and really good quality.

Wow, this service here is exceptional! I was in and out with a lovely champagne in less than five minutes!
I came in on my way to a friends birthday in a rush and I had a fantastic experience.
The two workers who helped me both had french accents, and I was expecting them to be stuck up or look down on my limited wine/​champagne knowledge. (I frequent Trader Joes for my wine supply! lol) They were actually incredibly helpful, friendly and helped me out quickly so that I wouldn’t be late to the party!
I told them off the bat I was looking to spend around $ 40-​$ 50. I was expecting for them to try to up-​sell me or suggest something on the high end of that spectrum. Instead, they selected a $ 25 bottle for me and told me why it was the best under $ 50. They saved me $ 25 bucks, the champagne was delicious and my friend loved it!
They even put it in a really nice gift bag for free and printed up notes on the wine and what it pairs best with. Great customer service :)

There is really no better wine shop in the city… actually i dont think i’ve been to a wine shop anywhere (except maybe that one in the 5^th in Paris… but that’s a concorde flight away just for a bottle of wine), but the guys at Moore Brothers are SO dedicated and excited about the products they receive that you will be assured to find something that fits your tastes. I’ve tried other wine shops that are billed as excellent by «Z» «OTHER» review books and such… but keep coming back to Moore Brothers. They get me, they get my tastes, and i’m sure the same will be for you.

Moore Brothers is hands down the best wine shop we’ve found in the city!
The team there is always willing and ready to help with selections whether it’s one bottle for a casual night in or a case for a dinner party. Their wines are all hand picked from small vineyards, the store is temperature conrolled, and their passion for wine is contagious. Even better is the fact that they deliver and their prices are very reasonable for their every day wines.
We highly recommend the Domaine Rogers Sancere!

The guys here are so nice and they make excellent recommendations! I love the fabre malbec (attaching photo). They also deliver! One guy delivered a bottle to me as they were closing. Awe…
The malbec (above) is smooth with a spicy flavor, hint of berry. Hit the spot for 15 buckaroos. Not bad for a nice bottle like this.

I tend to favor wine stores run by former sommeliers that take immaculate care in their wine: the stores and selection tend to reflect their idiosyncratic tastes, and express their full-​hearted love of wine. Moore Brothers was started by former Le Bec-​Fin sommelier Gregory Moore and his wine merchant brother, David Moore. Keeping in-​line with the family theme, the brothers only deal with one importer, which amazes me given the well-​edited selection of wine that he sources.
Moore Brothers offers only select estate-​bottled wines from France, Italy, and Germany. The wine growers represented by Moore are typically artisan wine growers that produce in very small quantities that reflect the traditions and cultures of the region their from. The brothers apparently know these producers on a very personal basis: when asked about the lovely children’s art on the wall, the salesman commented that most were drawings from sons and daughters of the wine producers they source from.
And the wine is fresh — apparently picked up at the winery in a refrigerated truck, and temperature-​controlled until it’s taken home by a customer. This is a feature that you’ll see at other top wine stores like Crush or Le-​Du Wines.

Wonderful staff — they are very knowledgable and (most importantly) eager to share their expertise. I attended a wine tasting event here and had a marvelous time. The selection is high end, but they will definitely help you find something you like at any price range.
Definitely one of the crispest, cleanest wine stores I’ve ever been to. They keep it cool in there, everything is neatly lined up and organized… very impressive!

Moore Brothers sets the standards high for excellent customer service.
Most people walk into a winery a bit timid, afraid that the pushy sales person will force them to buy the most expensive bottle of wine.
Moore Brothers will never do that. They are knowledgable, cordial and polite.
I had the pleasure of hosting a wine tasting event here and the staff were extremely knowledgable and accomodating. i will definitely return next year for another wine tasting and most definitely come here to buy some more wine in the near future!
