Service is fast, polite, and efficient. Much better than the cobbler across Broadway, which charged for service they actually did not provide more than once and then refused to give me a refund.
Would give them a 5 if they were more willing to take card — if you give them a credit card, the Russian cobbler man firmly says, «cash is better» or «cash is best.» Also, they put black taps ($ 4), not transparent ones, even if the soles are light colored.

I have been twice to Paul’s Shoe and he fixed five pairs of shoes in total. I was really pleased with the results. My shoes did not only look nicer but they were comfier after I had them resoled. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality of work and they are pretty efficient. They also fix bags, belts.
Both employees are really attentive and nice. They called me on the phone to give a cost estimate! They gave me a good deal because I had multiple pairs of shoes fixed at once.
Cash is preferred, please do them this favour :).

Fantastic repair shop. They’ll change the battery and the band for your watch while you wait, and offer unparalleled service for repairing and cleaning shoes and bags. I can’t recommend this place enough. The people are friendly, professional, prompt, and extremely reasonably priced.

Absolutely amazing service. I brought in some very well worn shoes — holes in the soles, sides wearing away, you name it. The shoes looked like new when I picked them up and it only took two days.
If you live on Morningside Heights and want a great shoe repair, look no further. You get what you pay for — and that’s excellent quality!

Thrilled we found this neighborhood gem and only regret we didn’t know about it sooner. Did a
Wonderful job restoring a pair of vintage boots that our dog nearly destroyed and they look brand new at a fraction of the cost of leather spa or similar. Regular polish and clean up of the other shoes I brought in was equally impressive and very reasonably priced as well. I won’t go anywhere else for future repairs!

Looks like any other cramped and grubby shoe repair shop in Manhattan, but this one is really good. I’ve had two sets of Alden loafers resoled here and a pair of women’s shoes widened on three separate occasions over 2 years. The workmanship stands up over time, and the prices are very, very reasonable. Service is fast and polite, if gruff. Good bye Leather Spa on 55^th (over-​rated, rude, and 2x the price)!

My only place for shoe repair. I grew up in this neighborhood, and now I live an hour and a half away in Brooklyn, but I still won’t go anywhere else! They’re fast, their prices are anywhere between fair and low (depending on the work), and above all, they’re communicative. When he thinks of a better way to repair my seriously broken shoes, he calls me and lets me know what he wants to do if it changes the charge. And for an extra $ 10, I’m happy to let him do whatever he wants. Leather shoes that only go in for a heel repair come back cleaned and shined.
And for the record, they do take card, but like most tiny businesses, they prefer cash. Do them that favor.

You might think it’s a tiny bit pricey to get your shoes repaired here, but it’s so much more worth it than other shoe repair places. This guy knows what he’s doing. No nonsense (and no credit card) — all you need to know is you walk in with broken shoes, and you might as well be waking out with brand-​new ones.

I am a huge fan of this place. I’ve brought two pairs of shoes here — one to replace the sole (which was about $ 20 I think?) and one to replace a broken zipper on a pair of boots (which was $ 17). He didn’t have the exact same zipper style, so we fished through his bag of zipper clips and found one that was pretty similar in color, just a bit smaller. No worries, as I don’t think people are making sure my zippers match perfectly. But good enough for me! Boots came back safe and sound (and functional!) Super affordable and fast. For being such a small place, they sure stay organized.
Oh and definitely cash only — unless something has changed.

I do terrible things to my shoes and these guys just keep on fixing them so they are as good as new again.

My mother visited a few weeks ago and asked me if I knew of an awesome shoe repair place I could recommend. She had tried several shoe repair shops in her hometown, but they were unable to fulfil her request. She had a pair of Steve Madden high heels that were not fitting her snug enough, so she wanted a leather strap placed on them for a better fit. I told her that I had taken my shoes to another shoe repair on 145^th but I wasn’t that thrilled with the outcome. I jumped on Unilocal to research another place and I found Paul’ Shoe repair. After reading a handful of glowing reviews, I knew that Paul’s would be the perfect place. My Mom and I visited Paul’s on a Wednesday afternoon. He was so friendly and gave us exemplary customer service. He was very attentive and made sure he understood exactly what my mother wanted. He walked us through his process. He told us that the shoes would be ready by Friday afternoon. My mother stressed to him that she needed the shoes by Friday, because she lived out of town, and would be headed back home. He assured her the work would be done. True to his word, Paul was finished with the work in time. He fit my mother for the straps in order for the fit to be just right. She tested them out in the store, and was extremely pleased. We told Paul how happy we were with his work. I told him that I would write a great review. I also shared with him that I had found his shop via Unilocal and the good reviews he had received. He was shocked. He told me he had never been on Unilocal,and has never read any reviews. It felt great to be the one to tell him about all of his happy customers. Living in the Big Apple sure does take a toll on your shoes. My heels wear down like nobody’s business, so I most definitely find comfort in knowing I have found a fantastic shoe repair.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Seriously.
I’ve made the mistake of taking shoes elsewhere and everyone else has basically covered up problems instead of fixing them. Paul’s completely rebuilds heels etc. so you don’t have to go get everything reheeled again in six months.
He’s done two pairs of boots for me, including some ancient Donald Pliners that should really be dead by now but look brand new because Paul is a genius. He also reheeled various other shoes and fixed a Gucci bag that several other repair guys said they wouldn’t touch.
Just let Paul do whatever he wants. He’ll walk you through what he’s going to do, which takes quite a while because he loves his work and talking about the process. Seriously, he is trustworthy and will not let you down. Tell him to do what he thinks is best.
What a mensch. Really. He has integrity. He should probably run for mayor but he loves fixing shoes so he never will.
Paul’s prices are fair and he will cut you a deal if you’re having several things done or if you’re a regular customer. You can also get a better deal if you pay cash. You pay when you pick up, which I like because I’m so happy with the results that whatever the amount is seems like nothing for the perfect job Paul has done.
Final note: He is experienced with high-​end shoes and bags. This is the best place to bring a Birkin that is pretty much your baby, or something handed down that’s of high value for sentimental reasons. Paul won’t mess up.

I’ve been walking by this shop for years, but only brought a pair of shoes for repair this week. The work was *amazing*!
I needed the heels on a pair of pumps fixed and the guy at the shop talked me into fixing the soles and protecting the leather as well. I’m so glad he did because the shoes now look brand new! And for just $ 35! I’ll definitely be back, since I have a tendency to beat up my footware.

One of my favorite To Do’s during my four years in the neighborhood was visiting Paul’s. They do AMAZING work and are honest men.
Prices are market rate, both for New York and other cities I’ve had shoes worked on. More importantly, they’ll be straight with you about what the shoe needs and doesn’t need.
I’ve probably had six nice leather shoes soled (and resoled and re-​resoled) here. The work they do is really excellent: I’ve gotten years out of shoes that I would have had to toss otherwise. I’ve had them do rubber gum soles, leather, and rubber soles and all have been top notch. The one time that it wasn’t, they happily fixed the issue when I brought it in. With new soles from Paul’s, your shoes look better than they did when you bought them! And they’re sturdy for the New York pavement.
They can also do some creative non-​shoe work when you ask. I had them fix the leather part of a woven belt I love and it still is working great three years later. The guy who does the shoes chuckled and asked «why not buy a new belt?» but he was glad to do it. Also had them reattach the straps for my leather shoulder bag when those came undone. They used rivets and small pieces of leather to put the strap on better than it ever originally was.
Finally, I’ve had them replace my watch battery a few times and they do that well.
Hardest lesson I learned with Paul’s was to trust their judgement. Come in with an idea of what you want done, but also fully explain the issue and ask what they think is best. They give good advice and will take care of you!

Excellent shoe repair store. The place is no frills (it seems like you are walking into the middle of the shop) but they provide quality repairs at a low price. I had a pair of dress shoes that needed new soles and heels, and it was $ 50 total, plus he polished them. Other reviews have mentioned this, but it’s true– the shoes really did look new again. I will definitely be back to have my other shoes fixed or «tuned up».

Really great shoe repair shop. I’ve brought them 3 pairs of boots that I was about to throw away and they made them look good-​as-​new! They do a great job replacing heels and soles, cleaning and polishing. And they’re affordable, friendly, and fast.

I’ve brought several pairs of shoes to Paul’s to be repaired. Don’t expect this place to be fancy — it’s all it needs to be. A small store front and a few guys who know how to fix shoes. Compared to prices in the area, they are priced well (I’ve paid less outside of NYC, but who hasn’t). They did a perfect job resoling/​heeling two pairs of my wife’s shoes. $ 50 a pair. I haven’t had them resole a pair of mine, yet, but im sure the quality is just as good.

This is a cute little store, and represents excellent value. I took them a pair of expensive shoes that had seen better days, with a sole that had separated from the upper shoe. For the affordable sum of $ 35, both shoes were repaired expertly, and polished too. I only take one star off for being a day later than promised.

Excellent cobbling at reasonable prices. For $ 14, I got my Steve Madden Intyce boots halfway resoled, plus they cleaned them. They looked brand new. I would definitely use them again if I was still in the neighborhood.

I decided to take my shoes to New Pauls after I found it on Unilocal.I needed my tall, leather Steve Madden boots resoled for the season. The shoes were quite worn down, so I knew I was in for a full replacement. (Sometimes they can just redo the tip and the heel, which costs half as much. But my boots were past that point.)
The repair was 50 bucks, they were done on time and worked out well. The Korean guy was very nice about fixing up my shoes, though I believe it’s the guy behind the counter who’s the actual cobbler.
There’s also a shoe place literally across the street, which seems to be a fine store as well, I’ve not been there. I don’t know a ton about resoling (sp?) shoes, but I’m happy with my boots and that they’re going to do so well for another season.
