Walking up to the Financial District, the discover of a certain Nuts 4 Nuts cart was found on the corner of Ann St. & Park Row. Needless to say, the fixation kicked in and it was off to sample the offerings. Same 4 rule criteria applies… What makes a good Nuts 4 Nuts Cart? 1) Price: Reasonable. Location cannot justify a higher price. At the end of the day, one is selling a 4 oz. bag of nuts. 2) Quantity: Anywhere between 4 oz. to 5 oz. is acceptable. Any fillers ranging from sugar renderings are NOT considered substantial 3) Heat: Despite it being 90 degrees outside, the bag of nuts must be HOT! HOT to the point in which I can burn my finger tips and tongue when eating 4) Taste: Not all sugar coated nuts are created equal. There must be balance! Price: Slight higher than its Manhattan Mall Counterpart. A bag of peanuts runs $ 2.00, while Almonds and Cashews cost $ 2.50. Granted, $ 2.50 is pretty high for a bag of Almonds but who cares, when one has the cravings, only a $ 3.00 price tag would render one to walk away. Quantity: 5 oz. That’s right… 5OZ!!! The bag was overstuffed with Almonds to the point where the bag barely closed. Needless to say, the extra $ 0.50 paid was worth it. Heat: Just slightly warm and not possessing the excessive heat. It was ok to the touch, but the Almonds needed to be hotter. Taste: A slight contrast in taste between the Sugar Reduction Coating and the Almonds. Patrons will find that the hints of Sugar are slight, which leads to an overpowering by the nuttiness of the Almond. Further consumption of additional Almonds will reveal that the lack of reduction of the Sugar Coating allows for a slight contrast in taste. Although the star of the show is the Almond, the lack of excessive heat and sugar coating encasement left the nut welcoming to eat, but not heartily desired. Granted, I’m never in the area so it won’t be much missed. Nevertheless, the cart satisfied a certain craving. That and the excessively large bag lasted all the way up to Canal Street.
