Pretty good sandwiches. Came here to pick up some food for dinner late one night. They are just your simple deli sandwiches but the sauces make them extra good! Decently priced too!

In my time living around the corner from here, I spent 40% of food buying time here because it was more convenient than Morton. Yeah. It’s overpriced(looking at TC students — be more fiscally responsible than I) but they have good food to sell and even their produce and deli stuff is good.

Okay. I’ve been wanting to write this review for a while. EVERYONE complains about how disgusting this place smells. It smells like warm, curdled milk and BLEACH. The bleach smell/old food smell is so incredibly strong that myself — and many other people who walk by(yes on the street from the outside) have to plug their noses because the smell literally makes us gag. I don’t understand how people even go in there. The people who clean the deli need to utilize a better cleaning solution ANDTHEDELINEEDSTOKEEPITSDOORSCLOSED with such a strong smell emanating out of it. I actually choose to walk around and avoid broadway all together between 39th and 40th. I am not the only one who thinks this. Many people in the building I work in do the same thing(will walk on 6th Ave) to avoid the smell.

Olive Tree is a go-to for water, coffee, and a newspaper. Friends tell me the bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll sammiches are good here, too, but I’m 100% loyal to Apple Tree Market a block or so away on Amsterdam. So, if somebody wants to buy me an OTDBECR, I won’t turn it away.

The area surrounding this shop(about .5 miles around) has few to zero coffee shops/bagel shops where one can get coffee and breakfast to go. The breakfast sandwiches here are tasty, the coffee is surprisingly decent, and the price is excellent(3.25 for a sausage, egg, and cheese – that’s cheaper than«less expensive» cities I’ve lived in…). Look forward to trying their other meal options.

I have been living one block away from this deli/bodega for the past 4 years. As a regular customer, I am always greeted with a hello and a friendly smile(I have even been hit on by their female employees)! I usually shop here to buy packaged snack food/beverages when I am feeling too lazy to venture out further away. While their packaged foods(chips, cookies, etc.) are reasonably priced, they do tend to overcharge for beverages, particularly 2 liter bottles of soda. Most of the other places in the area charge $ 1.79-$ 1.99 for a 2-liter bottle. Unfortunately this place charges $ 2.50. I buy sodas here anyway so that I don’t have to carry them too far(just 1 block away). I’ve never tried their deli sandwiches/food(dietary restrictions) but it always smells good when I walk in. If you’re looking for a quick grab and go or to buy some junk food, this is definitely the place. I just wish that they would stay open later(they used to be open until 11pm during the week… now only until 9pm).

From the outside this looks like just an ordinary deli, but stepping inside is a whole different story. Even better than the hidden falafel bar in the back is the huge smile you will get from the owner. You can tell that there is good energy in this little store because not only is the owner happy, but so are his workers, and that feeling rubs off onto the customers. Thanks for turning my frown upside down!

My wife and I walked in here as new comers to the area and wanted to check it out… We were looking for a bagel place close by Teacher’s College. We saw a few bagels but couldn’t quite see the menu as far as options. This is a very quaint convenient store that doubles as a deli. There were three employees working behind the counter and right before my wife and I were about to walk out and go check out Joe’s Coffee down the street, an older employees(possibly owner) looks at me and says, «Sir, we have the best sandwiches in the area, they are very good, you will like.» I smiled and asked what he would recommend for a hot sandwich. The pastrami on rye sounded good and I ordered it. My wife is vegetarian and ordered the veggie sandwich. The Pastrami sandwich took about 5 minute to make. Everything is obviously made to order. The employees were very nice in asking about which condiment, cheese, and veggie options I wanted as they created the thick pastrami sandwich in sliced rye bread. I got home and enjoyed the sandwich as the owner had told me I would. I was pleased the owner showed the initiative to talk me into the sandwich. Really showed me the passion he has for every one of his customers he serves. They really want to make sure you are happy with your order. Great place for a quick lunch on Broadway, between 121st and 122nd/Seminary Row.

This place rocks! Used to get a sausage and egg sandwich here for about a year each morning until I switched to a healthier start to the day. But, this place makes a great deli basic, has a solid cup of coffee, and the owners are very friendly. Beats Apple Tree on 120 and Broadway so easily it’s a joke!

The Mediterranean salad bar is a great deal and the falafel is salty and great! This is a perfect spot to grab lunch on the go, with friendly staff too!

I live right around the block from this place, and I’ve been very happy with it. I enjoy their breakfast sandwiches(bacon egg and cheese? Delicious!), and they make good wraps later in the day too. Bonus for people who don’t enjoy getting up early: I’ve been in for an egg sandwich in the afternoon, and they still serve them! Good coffee as well. Downside: They are not open very late at night, so no late-night egg sandwiches for me…

Beloved local deli by all who go to school in the immediate area. Another place that I’ve been going to far longer than I’d ever care to admit. A definite must for a quick lunch in the area. Their Chicken Parms and Club Sandwhiches are a definite cut above.

Usually here for a quick coffee. Drink selection is massive, but bottles are a bit pricey for a deli, even in NYC. Counter service is friendly. Have not eaten lunch or other meals here, only on the go breakfasts. Will re-review if I come here more often.

Quality corner store for your on-the-go needs. This place reminds me of Florida, because the people who work here are genuinely friendly. It’s refreshing to come across merchants with manners in New York City once in a while. There egg, bacon and cheese breakfast sandwich is delicious and it’s only $ 3.

I love this little place! It’s usually coffee on the go, but the times I’ve gotten food or smoothies, they’ve been great. Above all, the staff is just really wonderful. The place is just a standard deli/convenient store, but the people who work there make it stand out. They’re always friendly and upbeat… its the little things =)

The Olive Tree is the BEST. Tony(Awni) is a gem, and the entire staff radiates love!(Including the cat!) Greatest service, as long as you are nice to them too! Super egg sandwiches when Alex makes them on weekdays. I just walk in and he starts making it for me, I don’t even have to ask anymore! Cheap too! Don’t come in mornings when you’re in a hurry b/c it can be mobbed w construction workers from 9 – 9:45 am.

I needed to pick up something for my five hour flight back to the West Coast and I sure am not going to buy a preserved sandwich on the airplane for $ 10 when I can get a fresh one here for $ 4.80! It isn’t the most gourmet of delis but they do offer a standard selection of meats. I got salami and Swiss cheese. For the price, it was decent. Their«everything» is mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes.

I love stopping in on my way to class at Columbia. There are a few coolers with an assortment of beverages, a friendly cat, the standard sandwiches and a few pastries. Most importantly, though, there is a Mediterranean salad bar that has an assortment of cold items. Typically, a small container runs me less than four dollars and includes falafal, hummus, tabbouleh, and a variety of vegetarian options. Some of the more exciting dishes include chucks of feta and pepper. Last visit I even spied some stuff grape leaves. And the baklava. Well, it is a two dollar treat. Friendly staff, better-than-fair prices, and a nutritious, tasty meal make this a winner.
