Like others have said, something unfortunate happened to this place. Half of their items/menu are gone, and if you order online, they run out of simple things like Diet Coke… multiple times. Food quality has gone way down too.

Good price and various options to make your own sandwich(foods are also quite fresh). The staffs are always very kind and nice. Especially Sulady and Angelica… I love them!

We have had two parties catered by Subs. and I can’t say enough about the wonderful service and great food. We stop in for sandwiches from time to time as well and every time we go I feel lucky to have them just a couple of blocks away. It gets crowded but I’ve never had an order botched and it’s always been an efficient and friendly experience even with long lines.

I don’t know what happened to this place, they used to be good. I wanted some veggies today so I got a veggie wrap and it was the most nauseating thing. The avocado was all brown, most of the wrap was just sweetened caramelized onions(I think) along with fresh onions(ewww). I’m so sad this place is so terrible now. What a shame.

So close to work, so far from perfection! So much better than nearby Appletree market for salads/sandwiches/prices. This spot is just up the block from my office, and when the lines aren’t out of control, not a bad place to grab a salad or a sandwich. There’s a hot line, pre-made sandwiches, salad bar and assorted chips, pastries and beverages. The lines can be really egregious, so I’d recommend getting here earlier or slightly after midday(e.g. 11:30 a.m. or 2 p.m. and beyond). Otherwise you’ll be standing here until your next birthday trying to order. The sandwiches are underwhelming, but unlike nearby Appletree they’ll at least remember to include every ingredient you’ve requested on your sandwich. Salad bar frequently runs out of dried cranberries, which I take personally. Nothing to write home about, but always here for me when I’m hungry. There’s some holiday discount now for students who show their Columbia ID(20%)…Don’t tell anyone. I use it all the time and I’m staff. SHHHHH

With new management, I feel that this place lost its comparative advantage: –No longer open 24 hours(or even that late) –Significantly fewer options on the menu, not to mention the variety of chips, drinks, etc. –Higher prices( I don’t go here anymore.

Their breakfast sandwiches are the highlight of my day. Also, they have by far the best deli sandwiches on Amsterdam between 105 and 125, in my humble opinion.

The new management is taking Subsconscious downhill, and fast. The prices have skyrocketed while the quality has become atrocious. I ordered a Final Exam sub a week ago(after spending about 10 minutes on the phone with a cashier who couldn’t get it together and kept getting my order wrong), and what arrived was a dry sub with stingy portions of all the ingredients. For a nearly $ 9 sub, that’s unacceptable. Their French fries are now TERRIBLE. While they’ve introduced some nice new dipping sauces, I can’t dip the fries because they are soggy and limp. Not because of the delivery time, but because they were prepared by someone who doesn’t understand the concept of how to fry food properly. While the new wraps sound appetizing, they come out as an unappetizing, mono-color blob of goopy chicken/peppers/tomato filling wrapped in a very small tortilla. Most wraps now cost $ 10 instead of the $ 6.50 price tag just a few months ago. A couple of other things: — What in the world happened to the awesome bacon bits that used to be on the salad bar? They have been replaced with old shards of bacon that taste several days old. The new brand of croutons is similarly unappetizing. All of these changes have limited my food options here to the subs and wraps, which themselves seem to have become quite unappetizing as well. –Lastly, ordering delivery has become a nightmare. Whereas it used to take about 20 – 30 minutes to deliver my food literally two streets away, the average wait time has skyrocketed to 75 minutes. Recently, one of the deliverymen asked me for more than the $ 2 tip that I gave him, after arriving 1 and a HALF hours after I placed my order of a sandwich and a soda. I was shocked as this has never happened in my 2 years of ordering from here, and will no longer order delivery from Subsconscious again. If the other non-delivery-related issues continue, I not order from here again in any way shape or form. To whoever took over this place: you are trying to fix something that was never broken to begin with. The food has become sub-par in flavor, the selection has declined, the ingredients have dropped in quality… but the prices keep on rising. The place isn’t even open 24 hours anymore, for goodness sake. And last but certainly not least, the delivery guys are obviously overworked and unhappy, because I’ve never been solicited for an extra tip, ever… until recently. Something has to change. Hopefully that change won’t be the place shutting down, because it sure seems that this is the road toward which it’s headed.

Good quality food, prices & variety on menu. Horrible customer service! Called @ 1:30 for a simple pickup(2 burgers), and after arriving at 1:50 we were told it would be an additional 15 minute wait time. It would be courteous to: A) prepare an order when it is called in, not after the customer arrives to pick it up… B) let the customer know if there is a delay due to it being busy when the order is being placed…

Not as good as chopped, really hoping to find the selection of toppings here that Chopped has. Decent quality ingredients though. Expensive as they charge for every topping which isnt usual

I returned again while school was in session and I’ve got to say the food was a lot faster this time around. I ended up getting the same sandwich just to see and was pleasantly surprised. A good alternative to an area that is not exactly flush with decent lunch options.

SUCKS!!! Subconscious has changed their menu. They’ve added seating. They’ve taken most of the Panini’s out of there display case. They used to be the best sandwich shop north of Katz’s. The restaurant now sucks! The main reason it sucks for me is that they took both my sandwich and my back up sandwich off the menu. I used to come all the way uptown just to get their Cuban sandwich. It’s gone. They don’t even have an Italian cold cut sandwich anymore, which is the other sandwich there that I like to eat. They’ve taken about two thirds of the things that they served off of the menu. They’ve also cut down on their non-sandwich offerings. They don’t even offer as many varieties of soda as they used to, and they sell those in bottles. The results seem pretty telling: it used to be 10 people deep at the counter to order a sandwich before they changed the menu. Now the place is mostly empty. This sandwich shop is dying, and you should let it die a quick death.

Four stars for food, two stars for pricing and service. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, which at $ 4 a pop is way too much, especially since it only comes with one egg. The sandwich itself was decent, but the going rate on these is between $ 2.50 and $ 3. The fact that they included a small hot coffee with the sandwich was nice, but unnecessary and unwanted, as it is currently 84 degrees outside(and now I have to schlep a leaking coffee in a paper bag). None of the employees seem to be in a rush, which by itself isn’t the worst thing in the world, but showing a little hustle would be appreciated – especially during the morning rush.

How do you mess up egg salad?! The one and only time I got a sandwich from here and after one bite it went into the trash. SubsConscious place is good for pre-packages snacks; e.g. chips, chocolate bars, etc. However when it comes to hot food they somehow always seem to make mistakes. I used to order my bagel sandwiches from here in the morning but after all three times I got calls because there were changes to my order, I called it quits. The first time they ran out of peach rings so sent some peanut m&ms, the second time they ran out of everything bagels so sent my order on a plain one, and the last time they again ran out of everything bagels so sent my order on an onion one. Not to mention that the delivery took forever when they are only three blocks away from my apartment! Yep, I’ll only be back here for pre-packaged food and drink items.

The service here leaves something less than desired here. Apparently the prices aren’t the board aren’t the right prices. Sandwiches seem to have gone up a dollar from what is posted. I didn’t see the sign about price increase anywhere. The sandwiches are good but definitely not worth almost $ 10.

I went in once and an employee named Rene immediately began aggressively flirting with me at a level that is absolutely inappropriate and unprofessional for a customer service worker to engage in with a customer – if I was his manager and I had witnessed this, I would have fired him on the spot for sexual harassing a customer. This made me so uncomfortable that I haven’t gone in since, even though I live very nearby and often need a quick dinner. I later emailed the manager to inform them of this incident and never got a response. I’ll never go back to this establishment, as they obviously do not value the safety of their customers.

The food is pretty good, but the guys who make the sandwiches aren’t very smart. I don’t like tomatoes, so I always order my sandwiches without them. That being said, I have never NOT had to remind them I wanted it without tomatoes as they worker is putting them on there-and of course they get an attitude about it, like you’re being rude for making sure you get what you want. One time, I caught the guy making me what appeared to be the wrong sandwich but when I called him out on it he said it was the right one; the lighting is pretty dim in there at night, so I took his word for it. Of course, when I get back home it was the wrong sandwich. I probably should have checked it before I left, but I was in a rush. When I went back to get the right one, the dude played stupid. All in all, the sandwiches are acceptable for the price, but make sure you keep an eye on the guy preparing your food.

Not sure why this place has a 3* rating. In my opinion, these are the best bagels in NYC. Their breakfast sandwiches are incredible, and so cheap! The fact that this place is open 247 and I could get a breakfast sandwich at midnight was the best. I used to bring all my out of town guests here when i lived in the apartment next door and everyone loved it. They have an insane amount of cream cheese options too, my personal favorite is the sun dried tomato one. i was recently discussing subsconscious with a friend who still lives in the area, and he mentioned that the GPA sandwich is pretty damn awesome, so I gotta come back and try that.

The two stars here are for the food, and the are zero stars for their service, which sucks. Last week I placed an order online and since I’ve gone to pick up my order before and it hasn’t been ready or they forgot about it, I printed my confirmation and went down there 20 min later. The cashiers ALWAYS have an attitude, without fail, and this time was no different. She gave me attitude about their website being down and that I could place my order then but the other part of their service that sucks is that they are S-L-O-W. I have never been in a deli this slow in my life. Then today, my boyfriend brings sandwiches home for lunch and realizes the guy made BOTH of them hot. Including mine, which was deli meats and ended up even looking disgusting after being heated up. He specifically said which sandwich he wanted hot but these guys are slow and mess up orders so often, that I didn’t get lunch. I’d rather go to overpriced Apple Tree for a sandwich than here and plan to avoid it in the future.

Visit this place fairly often for lunch since I go to CCNY. The food is very good and the sandwich selection is huge. The salads are also very good for a reasonable price. Pretty much every meal u get there is under $ 10 Now to the customer service at the cash register, unfortunately it is not very good. The girls tend to be rude and do everything with an attitude which is unnecessary. Besides the register staff everyone else is pleasant and fast.
