It’s been closed this summer due to construction and other projects going on at the hotel, but i have to say that this is one of my favorite spots to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine. In the past, the right side was for the café, and the left side was«open» space for the public to hang out, which creates an interesting dynamic. Either way, this is a fantastic little gem where you feel far away from the crazy of 5th avanue, but just right around the corner. Hopefully it will be back up and running soon, so I can get a drink before the weather turns cold.

It was a nice day in NYC we past by & decide to sit down for some drinks. We sat down the waitress took a bit to come over & take our order but no biggie since it was such a nice day. I ordered a Stella, my company stuck w Grey Goose Martini’s .drink wise u cant mess beer & the martini was good. They give u some bread sticks to snack on, good taste, good idea specially if u r just having drinks like we were no time to eat since we had reservations but the bread certainly helped keep u straight. The service is pretty slow which cant be a pain but since for the most part u r enjoying the nice day u can let it slide. Be prapred to spend some money, the cocktails are very pricey at about $ 20 dollars each & the beer was not bad at about $ 10. Nice area to sit & enjoy a few cocktails on a nice day but I would not make it a regular thing since they are seriously overpriced.

The stars are solely for location. Double-edged sword, because due to them having this great little outdoor oasis in the middle of midtown, they are able to get away with painfully slow, somewhat surly service – not to mention overpriced drinks. However, it so centrally located that it winds up being really convenient for meeting people – who are initially impressed with the ambience – and then reality sets in. Still, Interesting crowd and on a nice day you’ll find me here again.. .

Prepare yourself, you will pay for everything you look at here but ultimately it’s worth it. The patio area is fantastic, and you are sitting right off a very busy area of town, so the people watching is also quite superb. The service is very slow, but I think that’s by design. My $ 30 burger at lunch was pretty delicious, so I can’t complain… I knew what I was doing to myself and my wallet, so I had a little talk with it beforehand. There are a lot of interesting drinks on the menu, and I think that is mostly due to Gilt Bar. Give them a try, they haven’t disappointed as I’ve been here many times.

I’ve been here for drinks a few times with coworkers, but after stopping by to chill after work with a friend, I finally remember enough to write a worthwhile review. There are plenty of cocktails to choose from, but the beer selection is very limited — and the alcohol is all around very expensive($ 10 for a Stella, and generally $ 20+ for cocktails). I also ventured forth and tried the $ 28 wagyu beef burger. It was delicious — no ketchup required; the beef was very tender(although I feel the center was slightly undercooked), and the big onion rings on the side are delicious, if not a bit salty. That said, the burger is a bit on the small side, and $ 28 is a steep price to pay for any burger… at least for $ 20, you get a massive burger at a place like Smith & Wollensky. Aside from that, the atmosphere is hard to beat. You have chairs outside off of Madison Avenue that let you take in the weather when it’s nice, and the interior is also very classy as well. I wouldn’t make it a place that I’d come to often, simply because it is unjustifiably expensive, but it’s a step above some of the other bars that are around if you’re looking for something better than one of the numerous Midtown dives. The food ain’t bad either… but you pay for it, just like everything else here.

I had some friends in town this past weekend for a family reunion, and given that I have not seen them for 8 years… I finally was able to coordinate getting together with them after work on Friday. What does that translate for me? HAPPYHOUR! WOOT! And because they were all staying at the New York Palace Hotel… that’s where it all started. So…without hesitating last Friday… I ventured up Madison and met up with my friends at the Palace Gate, located in the central courtyard facing Madison Avenue(St. Paul’s Cathedral). And boy was it great to see my friends. The ambiance… somewhat private, behind the iron gates that lead up to the hotel… hence the name. This was indeed a great place to reacquaint yourself with friends. The service… I found a bit rushed… but then again… what in NYC isn’t, right? The drinks… grey goose martinis… up with three olives. Perfect to quench my Friday afternoon thirst!

Love the atmosphere here. The outdoor seating with the treese and the wrought iron tables/chairs was just perfect! Our waitress was really nice — made sure our drinks were made right — and super flexible. When our party got unexpectedly larger she moved us to a table at the other end of the bar without hesitation. My only complaint is about the price — $ 20 a cocktail is a bit steep. The drinks aren’t unique enough to warrant the cost. Probably won’t be going back here but still happy to have tried it.

I had been dying to try Gilt all week. I was seriously craving some foie gras. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and had to settle for some pre dinner cocktails and apps at Palace Gate. A lovely evening combined with outdoor seating in a beautiful courtyard makes for the perfect setting to start the evening. I had a couple of delicious champagne cocktails before we decided to order some food. We had the truffle potato fries, the Gossip Grill and a thin crust pizza to share. The truffle fries were delicious as usual, but the real hit was the Gossip Grill. Holy mama that is good! Creamy fontina cheese with black truffles, grilled to perfection. Dip that in the smoked tomato soup and, OMG, amazing! After we gobbled that up, the pizza came. The highlight was the prosciutto, which gave the tomato and mozzarella the perfect touch of salty goodness. I snuck in one last drink, a Pimm’s Cup, before I had to run off to dinner. I didn’t want to go. This place(and Gilt for that foie gras) will be my first stop next time around!
