Roger and his team at Pedal Pushers were a solid, professional vendor to work with for our big group of out of towners. Organizing a large group rental was no small feat, and Roger and the PP team were extremely accommodating, helpful, and knowledgeable about their bikes. Thanks to them, our guys were set up for the race!
The inventory is large, and the prices and expenses very fair. Pedal Pushers is THE answer for your bike rental needs.

I bought a Bianchi Volpe here. It’s my first non-​beater bike, and I love it. Laura and the rest of the staff were helpful and friendly. She answered all of my newbie questions and answered some I hadn’t considered. Their service was fast and efficient. I’d recommend this shop to anyone looking for a new bike or rental.

I was unfortunate to have my bike stolen last week.
Due to the fact my bike was my commuting workhorse, I needed to find another
My knowledge of components, geometry, widgets and etc is fairly limited. I understand suspension vs straight, disc brakes vs v, but I don’t really know the Quality scale individual components. Ex. Why are A shifters more expensive than B shifters.
For these reasons, I am not a fan of the intimidating «dealership style» bike shops.
I feel some of these shops are commission driven, and with that fact, the advice given inherently comes with a grain of salt.
The staff here was the opposite of high pressure sale. I went back and forth a few times comparing makes and models. Everyone I encountered has a genuine enthusiasm for cycling, especially beginners just entering the hobby.
The owner was working there too, which to me, is a huge plus to see.
They take the time to explain the details of each bike and are very diligent at making sure all your questions are answered.
I know I asked a lot of dumb ones too. m
I think I visited every bike shop in Manhattan, but this shop really set itself apart.
When you buy a bike here, You leave knowing you made a very well informed choice.
I read a lot of the other reviews, and was a bit shocked to see the rude etc comments.
I experienced nothing of the sort after several visits.
The price points seemed competitive to the brand they sold.
The rental fees are several bucks cheaper than surrounding areas.
Anyway, if you are in the market, def swing by this place.
I personally am very excited to pick up my new bike.

Great professional and friendly service. Occasionally a bit pricey but that’s to be expected for the neighborhood. I was deeply saddened to hear of Evan’s passing.

It was my first time renting (and riding) a bike in New York, despite having lived here for a couple of years. I decided to go here as it’s fairly close to my home, and I didn’t want to walk all the way to other bike rental locations (in or near Central Park) just to pick up a bike.
I rented a regular mountain bike (with re-​fitted tires I believe; see photos) for a total of three hours (7 $ per hour). The store physically holds a credit card in their possession during your rental period. I didn’t rent a lock or helmet (I had my own) but they do have those options, at a small extra cost. They also calculate the final rental fee in +/​-​15 minutes windows on the hour.
I rode my bike mostly in and around Central Park on a sunny spring Sunday! It was a very comfortable and easy bike to ride. The store’s staff was friendly, and overall, I loved the experience. I’m definitely going back.

Still one of the worse bike shops in Manhattan
I had a very bad experience (rude, slow and over-​charged) a few years ago, but I needed a 20 second adjustment, so i decided to give them another chance. I won’t make the same error again.
I needed to have my kid’s handlebars tightened so I brought the new bike in for the 20 second tightening. I was happy to pay for the service. The owner spent about 10 minutes telling my college-​aged daughter and me that he didn’t have time to do the adjustment. He told us that we would have to leave the bike for a few hours. It would have taken much less time to have given the stem a half turn with a wrench then it did to tell us why we needed to leave the bike. This really annoyed us and showed total disregard for our schedule.
My daughter picked the bike up a few hours later and was charged $ 25 for the 20 second screw tightening and was told that her brand new bike had lots of other adjustments that had to be made, at additional cost, of course. My daughter said the staff was rude to her when she picked up the bike. This is just stupid and terrible customer service. Why piss-​off a potential significant customer.
The service was as overpriced as it was last time I felt ripped off and I will not be returning to the store ever again. For the life of me, I don’t understand why they would be so rude, disrespectful and foolish. I had mentioned when I was in the store that we also needed to purchase bike shorts, gloves and a new bike computer. These are presumably their highest margin items. I just bought them all on-​line and the items will arrive tomorrow morning.
The only competitive advantage small businesses have going for them is the ability to provide better service and personal attention. In the absence of these offerings – the internet, especially with overnight delivery and better prices is a much better alternative.
The consistent overpriced bad service is just one good reason to bring your business someplace else.

«Not much to say»
This will be brief because I stopped in to buy a couple of inner tubes for my tires. But, the older gentleman, who was wearing a bow-​tie, was very helpful, although he is a little snarky in a fun way. The prices were not too bad for the UES location but I have not had any repairs done here.
Also, the shop does not have a minimum for credit and debit cards.

Came here after my lock got stuck (thankfully this happened after I put it on my bike and not outside) following a cold, rainy day. Whether it was the cold, water, dirt, or some combination of the above, my bike lock refused to open even after I turned the key all the way.
Found this local bike shop and they were super helpful with my cause. The guy even took a suggestion I found on the internet about putting some product down the U of the lock instead of just in the keyhole. He used some lube and rust remover and eventually the U came out smoothly and I was good to go again! Best of all, he didn’t charge me anything for it!
I can’t comment on their bike servicing, but the guy I interacted with (forget his name, but he had long, thin blond hair) was super nice and would recommend their customer service at the very least. Wish the door had been a bit bigger though heh.

The bike store has been incredibly responsive to recovering our missing bicycle. They deserve to be considered incredibly helpful and customer service is outstanding.

I have been coming here for years for various services, and then bought my current bike from them about 4 years ago.
The staff has changed very little in this time, which is quite impressive for retail, and they continue to help me out with great competence, and all charge very honest prices.
It’s not a slick and shiny shop, but rather the sort of place where the staff seems to know every 3^rd customer coming in on a first name basis, and most of the customers know the staff (Tony, Ivan, Roger) on a first name basis.
Overall, I’m a very happy customer and plan to remain one into the future.

I came in as my rear dérailleur came loose and one of the pulleys fell off. I was able to drop it off and get the repair done the same day. Toni also tightened up a few loose bolts and oiled my chain so all in all it was a great experience and I’d come back again. I also bought a cat’s eye light here on a previous visit for a fair price. It’s a good local bike shop.

The strange man in the bow tie was very long winded and would not get to the point for prices. When he finally told me what he charged, he gave prices higher than local stores. don’t go here. GO TO BIKE HEAVEN on 62^nd bt 1^st and 2^nd. That’s where I went and they fixed my bike and lubed it so now its works flawlessly.
Bottom line: Awkward and swindlerish

Came here for a bike hook. Real nice, informative guy working there. Great prices. Very tiny shop, but a surprising amount of inventory. I’ll def be back to pick up my biking odds and ends.

I am very dissapointed with this place! Very unprofessional and down right rude. There’s plenty of bike stores around UES to have to put up with these guy’s demeanor.

Best bike rental ever. Great price and very straight forward. You secure it with a credit card and state/​country id and the bike is yours for very reasonable rates. We got a bianchi n it was a decent ride. Seat however could be more padded n basket on bike should b an option.
Apart from the rental, same friendly and patient blonde guy working there pleasantly answered my many questions about their different merchandise for my own bike. Will go back again.

I rented a bike to go riding around central park. Out of all of the bike rental places I’ve used, this had the cheapest rates. I forget how long I rented mine for but I rode around central park twice at a slow pace, I think about 3 hours was about $ 20. They round the price down to the 15 minutes. The bikes were in good condition, tires full and balanced. They have a good variety of bike frame sizes. They have a coupon on their site for free helmet rental with a bike rental.

First off let me get it out of the way that this is a tiny, dusty, grimy shop with a relatively small selection of items. That being said I had the best experience here.
I was in the market for a single speed bike and had visited 7 different bike shops in the city and was shown a very wide range of options. I continued my research online and found the best non-​track or cruiser single speed for the least amount of money was a KHS Urban Soul (large, in black). I then called over 20 bike shops in the city that dealt with KHS. No bike shops had that specific bike, some could barely speak English, and one shop even told me that they don’t even make that bike model anymore (KHS confirmed this to be untrue). In comes Pedal Pusher, one of only two shops that had the bike (and the only one in Manhattan).
I was helped by Trung (aka Tron), he was the most helpful salesperson I’ve ever dealt with (bike shop or not). He made me feel great about my bike decision without trying to up-​sell me on something else. He explained everything I wanted him too without going over my head or being condescending. He made suggestions on things I might need but wasn’t pushy at all. In addition to making me feel good about my bike choice he made me feel good about my bike shop choice. I was reassured they’d help me with anything I need and wouldn’t nickle and dime me with minor tweaks or anything else I might need with my new purchase. I stayed in the shop chatting with him passed their closing time without even being pushed out.
Pedal Pushers may not be the biggest bike store in the city and it’s not much to look at but it’s a little gem of a shop that will undoubtedly have be coming back for years to come.

Bought my new Bianci road bike here. The employees here were very knowledgeable and patient with me, being that I was just a beginner in cycling at the time. I was looking for something very specific and really wanted to ensure that it fit me correctly. They steered me in the right direction and I ended up with a unisex (I originally demanded women’s specific) Bianci that two years later I am still VERY satisfied with.
I would maybe recommend buying your accessories elsewhere being that there is not a huge selection.
Over all I would definitely recommend this shop.
