Great place for quick, tasty and inexpensive pasta! Came here looking to satisfy my carb/pasta craving. I ordered the penne vodka with pancetta($ 11) and LOVED every bite and was every bit satisfying. Very friendly staff that makes you feel like family. FYI they do NOT carry diet coke!

We were there last night and enjoyed everything. Our waiter was excellent from the moment we sat down to 2 hours later when we finished our meals. The misto appetizer is delicious and our table of 5 had 4 unique entrées which each of us enjoyed to the last forkfull. The portion sizes are«just right». We also loved the bread, E.V.O.O, and grated parmesan that was included with the fair priced plates. The red house wine hit the spot as well. We were too stuffed to try the variety of desserts that they offer. We will definitely be back again when visiting the city.

This looks like a tiny restaurant with only one dining room, so I was shocked when the waiter bought us to the hidden back garden. Cute environment and good pasta at great prices. You know how many Italian restaurants charge at least $ 16 for a pasta dish? You can get a penne vodka with prosciutto here for $ 11! My boyfriend and I split the penne vodka and the pasta special of the day, which was the green pappardelle with a ½ lb lobster and calamari. I was shocked the pasta special was only $ 22 and came with lobster; usually this would be at least $ 26 at other restaurants. Both dishes were good, but a tad too salty. You can tell the pastas were handmade though, so that’s a plus. However, the portions were inconsistent; the penne vodka was a generous portion, while I wish there was more pappardelle in the other dish. Also. the lobster didn’t seem like ½ lb as it was a small lobster. The bread basket and service weren’t anything spectacular either. If you’re craving pasta within this area, then I’d suggest dining here. Otherwise, don’t make the trek out to 10th avenue just to save a couple of bucks.

This place is a really good find. We went here before seeing Sleep No More around 6pm on a Monday and the place was completely empty. The staff was super attentive and we had a plate of their sautéed calimari(really fresh and tasty) along with entrees of Salmon and homemade mushroom cheese ravioli with pesto. The plates are a little small, but the food is absolutely delicious. I would recommend checking it out.

4 stars is definitely on the money for this restaurant. It’s a great place all around except that the portions are very small and expensive. They take reservations even on the weekends and during dinner time. When we arrived they had our table waiting and led us to the back of the restaurant. If you’re going to dine here please ask for the back area it’s beautiful. It’s like a secret garden and you’ll totally forget you’re in NYC, great for date night. Otherwise the dining area in the front is plane jane and crowed. Do yourself a favor and get the half carafe of wine vs. a glass of wine(more wine for your buck), you’re welcome. They bring out fresh bread, olive oil for dipping, and olives for the table. We got the baked eggplant appetizer. It had 4 slices of eggplant, cheese, and sauce. For my entrée I had one of their specials which was a grilled octopus salad… aaamazing! Probably one of the tastiest grilled octopus dishes I’ve had. My bf had the veal scaloppine which was good(very small portion). One of my friends had the pappardelle and he said it was also good. The overall consensus of the food its that it was good but the portions are small especially for the price. The service was great, we were never rushed or constantly interrupted. I would come back here for their grilled octopus, half carafe of wine, and their beautiful garden room in the back.

Went to Pepe Giallo for dinner before a friend’s show tonight. This is certainly a hidden gem. The waiter was awesome and the food was even better. I got the ravioli stuffed with asparagus and ricotta cheese in bolognese sauce. It was out of this world and very reasonable priced! The garden is very charming… will definitely go back!

Ordered some ‘penne a la vodka with chicken’ here for lunch. Taste was mediocre for a lunch plate that cost $ 20. Overpriced. Before stopping by, I had called on a multiple times to no avail. Ended up walking over top place my order and the guy upfront was pretty rude. Chicken was a bit burned, tasteless, and from what it looked liked… just thrown ontop of the pasta as an after thought. Won’t be going back. Overpriced, mediocre food, rude management.

Pepe Giallo is definitely a hidden gem! Affordable and delicious Italian food, not to mention an awesome back garden. It’s such a shame I’ve only just found out about this place. Came here on a Saturday night for a birthday celebration dinner with my boyfriend and his family. We were seated in the garden area, and wow does the mood change. It’s definitely louder in the front, so if you’re coming for a dinner date, try to snatch a table in the back! And there were a good amount of people waiting for tables so a reservation is recommended. I had the pappardelle with spicy tomato sauce. Pasta is fresh, the spicy was a bit too strong for me towards the end but overall deserves a 4⁄5. I was especially wowed by the rigatoni with salmon and mushroom in cream sauce. I had a bite of that and almost wished I had ordered that instead. Friendly and quick service. Waiter was able to help us decide on a wine selection. Great dinner experience and will be back for more of their pastas!

Great little gem hidden between a couple of car shops on 10th ave. Hopped off the Highline and craved some Italian food. My date and I were pleasantly surprised to walk into a quaint, warm and cozy little spot, especially for this area. We shared the burrata appetizer, which was fresh and delicious. For mains, I had a creamy sausage pasta and my date had the fish special, served with veggies and potato. Both of our entrees were very tasty, though the dessert stole the spotlight. We shared a nutella cheesecake that was truly delicious. I think it was a special for the night, but hopefully they bring it back! Our server was very sweet and attentive, and the wine we shared was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. I hope to make it back to Pepe Giallo’s sometime soon. P. S. — this is a delayed review from November, so the nutella cheesecake is probably a thing of the past(I hope not!)

Came here with my physical service dog for my asthma and they refused me and my party entry. The certificate I had on hand wasn’t proof enough.

They have a wonderful garden seating! You won’t believe you’re in Manhattan, it’s very romantic. They offer reasonably priced pasta but portions could be bigger. Lots of veggie options, which is great. I really enjoyed my eggplant mozzarella pasta. Don’t travel to this place on purpose but if you’re in the area it’s definitely a nice and tasty restaurant to go to!

When I went to NYU, Pepe Rosso to Go was one of my favorite spots for a quick pasta lunch. The pastas were always cooked perfectly al dente and the portions were big. But that night, I wanted to go to sit down restaurant. A sit down that wasn’t quite over the top fancy but not PRTG casual, something in the middle. Pepe Giallo has a great atmosphere. The waiters were super friendly and never rushed us one bit even though it was full to the brim and a wait outside. We were lucky enough to get a table under the«chandelier» in the garden, which they say is where a lot of first dates start and anniversaries happen. It was winter and at night so the roof was covered but still it was a much calmer scene in the back then in the front. The front is a bit chaotic with tables really close to one another and the noise level quite high. What we ordered: — Grilled salmon w/broccoli: Good portion of salmon and the broccoli was broccoli since it was only steamed. But sometimes you realize you eat out too often and your winter clothes just don’t fit anymore. So this is me trying my best to eat out healthy and hopefully lose some before it gets too cold that I may have to give up fitting into last winter’s clothing and buy new winter clothing. Cheers! — Pappardelle with spicy sausage: This was my boyfriend’s dish but I did steal a sufficient portion anyway. The pasta was cooked al dente, nice chew, great texture. The amount of sauce was ample with sufficient sausage crumbles. Overall it was delicious and very reasonably priced. Only downside is that the cheese is already grated and may be some Kraft parm but it was still good without. Overall, it was a great place to sit, chat, and eat after a stroll down the Highline. Yes, how cute and romantic.

I’m a sucker for well done, simple Italian food. And Pepe Giallo provides just that. My salmon & mushrooms over rigatoni in cream sauce was fantastic, and my friends greatly enjoyed their meals(chicken milanese, grilled salmon, and gorgonzola gnocchi). I would recommend all except the grilled salmon since considering it’s a dish one can easily prepare at home. Last, but not least, their prices are great across the board — appetizers, entrees, wine, etc.

I don’t love eating Italian food but I love this little Italian restaurant on tenth Ave. the food is great and very reasonable prices. Fast service and friendly too. This def a must try for those that like cheap pasta dinners. The open air kitchen tho will leave you smelling like the restaurant after you leave but it’s worth it . I personally don’t like spending money on eating Italian when I go out but this place doesn’t make me feel like i got robbed for for pasta that cost so little to cook. I got the rigotoni salmon in cream sauce and cost $ 13. Very reasonable for Manhattan.

Don’t expect to be wowed by the food, but it’s a cute place and it’s good Italian food that doesn’t go the way of many Italian-American places of being overloaded with mozzarella and/or tomato sauce. The tomato sauce is average(clearly made from canned) but the pasta is quite good and the dishes pull together nicely. The staff is very nice and helpful, and the prices are really low! Other than that, there’s not really a reason to come here with so many Italian places in the city. At least here you know you won’t be overcharged for a plate of bad pasta in a place that bills itself as authentic Italian.

Wonderful garden seating, efficient service and pleasant vibe earns this place three solid stars. Food was good not great or interesting. We had three different salads and three pasta dishes. Caesar salad dressing lacked flavor. Pasta sauce did too. However we did enjoy the restaurant overall and a nice meal on the patio. Worth it if you are in the area and Unilocaling for dining choices, not worth a special trip.

I’d gladly come back here for two main reasons: (1) Deliciousness (2) Affordability(relative to other Italian restaurants in NYC) After a fun(and weird) date at Sleep No More about 2 blocks away, the Mrs and I had an appetite and stumbled on this place. Despite being busy on a Monday night, they squeezed us in when we showed up after about a 10 minute wait. The lady had the Ravioli Bolognese(with ricotta) and I got the Penne with Meatballs in Spicy Sauce. Both dishes were outstanding! Check this place out and you won’t be disappointed.
