This place is amazing! The guy behind the counter, George, was so nice and helpful. I was a new customer (just getting my first dog!), so he gave me a discount on my purchase and even threw in a bag of treats for free! I will definitely go back there.

I initially wrote a very bad review for grooming services that I received (re: safety concerns, appointment scheduling, & misunderstandings). While those experiences still discourage my desire to use Pet Ark for any future grooming, I think it’s worth noting the owner/manager’s response to my review (unsure if his title). George called me the following morning with what I believe to be a very sincere apology. He seemed very disturbed & remorseful that my experiences at his business resulted in such unpleasant feelings. He was also very eager to make up for my past experiences, & gave me his personal phone number so he could personally coordinate any future grooming appointments.
The groomers & other staff have always been very friendly and pleasant to me. And while I did indeed have some unfortunate experiences at Pet Ark, I do believe this business operates with the intention of providing good service.

This place has a great selection, friendly/​knowledgeable workers and *free* delivery! I only ever get cat items, but they have lots of limited ingredient foods (my cat has allergies) and speciality items like Feliway. Plus you can call for delivery and pay cash when they arrive or a card over the phone. I will never lug litter again. Pet Ark is a great local, small business to support!

Awesome pet store with tons of items. I am most impressed that most of their items are organic and healthy/​grain free options. Owner is extremely friendly and helpful. I’m so glad to find this little store that so pleasantly surprised me! It might look like not much from the outside, but go in and it’s better than any Petco or Petsmart I’ve ever been too.
Is you’re looking for a great pet store in the neighborhood, this is it!

I’ve lived 6 blocks away for two years now and somehow have just discovered this gem! I stopped in on a rainy day, after having decided it was time to buy all new supplies for my cat. I was greeted at the door by Oatmeal, the sweetest, most beautiful cat who followed me around while I shopped. The gentleman working at the pet store was very helpful, and helped me to select a new litterbox, litter, and new food for my cat, since they didn’t have the brand I normally buy. While paying, he asked if I wanted the supplies delivered for free. Well of course I do! I was so pleasantly surprised that this was an option! (clearly I’m not a native Manhattanite) He then asked me what sort of treats Justin likes (Justin is my cat child, FYI) and then proceeded to include the treats in my order, free of charge. Supplies were delivered 15 minutes later and Justin and i were happy as could be!

Awesome service, and low prices — everything I’ve priced has been cheaper than the big stores, like PetCo, etc. The staff is very friendly, and they go out of their way every month to get a special dog food for me that is extremely hard to get.
They also deliver!

Great locally owned store. Well stocked and clean. They focus mainly on cat and dog supplies. The staff is very nice. Have been shopping there for five years. Highly recommended.

The guys here are super friendly, and seem to truly love all animals. I am extremely satisfied with how well they treat my dog when I come here to buy misc items like food, toys, clothing (ie a rain jacket) and more — very genuine in their coo’s and awe’s. I’ve seen them act the same towards other animals, so I know it’s not just because my puppy is the cutest thing in the world ;) They just really love what they do.
They always offer a handful of free treats to those willing, and Cleo is always willing.
The store itself is a bit small, but packed with many items you could ever need from dog /​cat beds, large selection of foods, training pads, kitty litter, and even amphibian and fish stuff. Great store and great staff make this a common stop for the ol’ lady* and I.
Don’t let Cleo know I called her old, mmkay? Although she likes to «yelp» ocasionally, she hasn’t discovered my login password.

I’m so happy this place is here, though I do admit it’s somewhat out priced for the neighborhood. But given that there are no comparable options nearby, I’m thrilled to have it! The cashier and workers are very kind and helpful, and always give me an accurate time estimate as to when new food will be at the shop. I’m much more satisfied buying from a local shop than lugging 25+ lbs of cat food or litter crosstown and on the subway from Petco just to save a few bucks.

This pet store doesn’t look like much on the outside, but it has most everything you might need for your pet. I just adopted a rescue puppy and thought he might have fleas and I went into the store for a flea bath/​collar/​powder, and the salesperson was so helpful in telling me what might be safe/​not safe for a puppy of his age (10 weeks). He was so helpful in helping me find things I might need (sizing him up for the right collar/​harness, etc) and when I was done he gave me a toy for my puppy which was really sweet.
While prices might definitely be a little higher than online, it is a brick and mortar store, so that’s understandable. While online is a good options for specific things, it’s nice to go into a store and actually see what you’re getting. Not only to do they have a nice selection of high quality food, toys, and products, but they seem to really care about your pet and want to help you find the best products for them.

Very disappointed with my interaction here. Just moved to the area and attempted to place an order over the phone. They charged my card before telling me that their delivery person couldn’t deliver until the evening which is too late since I needed to be at work. She essentially blamed me for the lack of information that she provided and yelled at me for having her cancel my transaction. I told her I was disappointed in her customer service and she continued to complain. Didn’t help that her English was not great.
Will not use them.

I am always much happier supporting a local pet-​store rather than a big corporate chain! They are on the pricey side, which is a bit surprising considering the clientele/​neighborhood, but they also deliver which is great!

I love the Pet Ark! They are always friendly and helpful, and have taken in more than one stray kitty and passed it on to a good home. They have all the healthy brands of pet food, and even just started stocking raw food. Free delivery, decent prices, and I love to support a small business! If you used to visit them on Broadway between 140 & 141, take note they’ve moved up just north of 141st St now, same side of the street. So happy they’re in the ‘hood.

This place has very good selections of quality dog foods and healthy treats. You would never imagine what they carry inside when you walk by (their sign is not loud and there are some crappy looking cages laying around), but the store is pretty organized and clean. The staff is always nice and helpful to reach for what you need. The price is very fair.
They only have basic choices on toys and clothing/​collars since the store is very small, however they have everything you need from a neighborhood friendly store. My dog seems to be very excited every time we pass by this place. I guess she can smell where her food is coming from!

INNOVA EVO & FAST, FREE DELIVERY!
Best price I found on Innova Evo 28 lb. bag in the city (Animal Feeds in the Bronx has best price overall, but hard to get to & don’t deliver).
Free delivery comes in handy when u don’t have a car & need to lug a 28 lb. bag of dog food home. Also, they were able to deliver within time that I needed.

This place is small but great and they have a large selection of specialty cat food (ie: «science diet» is their cheapest brand). The staff are always extremely helpful and they always offer their free delivery service (though I’ve yet to take them up on it).
They also have a particularly adorable tabby who lounges about as you shop. I love that.

on my way home one day the 1 train announced that they were going to skip my stop — so off I hop one stop early to hoof it home. Thank goodness for train screw up because I would have never walked past this little treasure if not for rush hour on the 1 train!
This shop is very small but they have packed in almost everything I could want to spoil my little man. They carry all the high end pet foods and litters (minus the litter I use… rats…maybe I will switch) along with toys and accessories. Yay Harlem folks! you no longer have to carry huge bags of food long distances if you don’t want to feed your cat friskies from ctown!
