Pie Pie Q Cafe

Ordered a pineapple bun with custard and a slice of the green tea with mango cake. I bit into bun heaven… The breads are so soft, with an amazingly creamy filling. The cake was moist, a little too much frosting my taste, but still delicious nevertheless. I am usually very picky with my buns, but they have theirs baked to perfection.

My 2^nd time at this place, I really like their Hot Dog Bun! Cheap and delicious, will stop by again, whenever I’m in the area.

There was no where to sit. A lot of the patrons like to hang around and chill so we had to wait a while before finally getting a seat. My mom used the restroom and said they didn’t have any toilet paper anywhere in there. Luckily she had some spray and wipes but they need to check their restrooms more often and keep things in stock. The only nice thing about this place was the girl at the cashier.

I love this place. Their breads, custard tarts and roll cakes are absolutely delicious. I can’t wait to return and try their beverages and to have a sit-​down meal in the café. I had to reheat an item almost a week after purchasing it because I was trying to space out my treat consumption, and it still tasted amazing! The staff is also friendly and pleasant! Can’t wait to return.

Drinks are decent.
I must say that my 1 star review is mainly because of one of the employees there. I didn’t even order anything, I only know the drinks are decent because my friend liked it.
After sitting I saw an old lady drop her egg. She picked it up and asked one of the employees to just wash it… yes WASH it. She didn’t even ask for another one. And the nasty attitude the employee gave her was just unbelievable. I couldn’t believe what I witnessed. I really hope the management does something about that lady. And reading the other reviews, I see that they have encountered this same lady.
If I’m ever in New York, I won’t be visiting this place again. Until they do something about that employee I suggest you go to another backery.

I’ve only been here in the mornings, on my way to work. Usually I would be able to score a warm/​hot Portuguese egg tart. Theirs is one of the best in Chinatown. There’s right amount of sweetness in the filling and the crust is fluffy and light. Their Hokkaido cake (the one in a light blue tiny box) is also delicious as they resemble the taste and texture of a spongecake. Hongkong styled milk tea is pretty decent too. Their hot food items are standard in respect of selections and taste but relatively cheaper than other bakeries. However, bakeries are priced slightly higher.

Food is decent.
But they need new employees/​management. The main lady who manages the bakery has a nasty attitude. My friend bought breakfast from this café and I came in with a small coffee from the Mc Donald’s next door. The lady decides to point her finger at me and proceed to say something (I assume she is telling me to leave) in mandarin from behind the counter. I was very confused as I did not speak the language. She continues to repeat herself (in mandarin & louder) along with that finger pointing and nasty attitude.
I shouldn’t be ridiculed at 8am just bc of a small coffee. My friend did buy something from the bakery and we sat there for a mere 5 mins…
So many good bakeries in Chinatown. You won’t be seeing me in this one again.

come in here and just get the portuguese egg tart, not the regular egg tart, but the portuguese egg tart.
They bake egg tarts on the premises daily and they are fresh and served after 3 or 4pm.
It is the best egg tart ever, so flaky with a nice crisp on the outside, and creamy and custardy.
get the portuguese egg tart– you won’t regret it!

Cashier does not know how to count. Got overcharged here. Make sure cashier charges you correctly.

Couple family members frequently come here, not sure why particular here as oppose to all the other other choices, so in the area I stopped by it’s your average Chinese bakery. Not so big and nothing too fancy.
The Cha Sui Bao is almost flat like, very moist, soft and has an medium amount of filling where the meat is lightly sweat and more on the side you can actually chew on the meat. I don’t see the red in the filling as much as I have seen from other bakeries. The flavor is certain there.
The egg custard could use a crispier shell, it’s flaky and not messy. The shell holds well. So does the filling, no wiggly, a very stern and solid, average tasting filling.

Can’t believe White Swan is replaced by Pie Pie Q in English though in Chinese it still is White Swan Bakery. The new ownership and renovations make this place look completely different than what it was 2 years ago. Gone is what seems like a very unsanitary environment. They have certainly made everything more home feeling and the seating is much more comfortable. Whereas the original White Swan felt more like a cafeteria, Pie Pie Q is an actual bakery.
Fortunately for patrons, comfortable seating is almost always available, unfortunately for the owner (s) there really isn’t a lot of business hence, they can go out of business sooner than later if that remains the case.
Of course buns and coffee is not all they serve, they also have rice and a few good dishes to go with it for under $ 5. The offer a lot of new drinks that are not found elsewhere and thankfully the majority of the new staff are customer friendly though the price is above average for most of the items especially bubble tea (you can thank Chattime for that since it’s right next door). Do give it a try if you happen to pass by it.

4 stars. I’m a fan of this place. Why? Because unlike the typical Chinatown bakery, they allow their chefs creativity in the kitchen! They have tarts of all flavors (green tea, white, portuguese) as well as different crackers, wafers, buns, breads. really the list could go on. I’m also partially biased because the ladies who work here always try to make conversation with me and well, I feel special. Check it out.

My family and I went to Chinatown around 8pm and most stores and cafés were closed… However we started to adventure around and came across this very friendly store.
The Sponge Cake is moist and very soft and the Cheesecake Sponge Cake is the perfect balance between Rich and Light.
Also their serving size is quite reasonable… Only paying a dollar or two for a generous slice of cake (Most Bakeries In Chinatown Are The Same).
I do have to warn you though, if you order any type of beverage they add large amounts of sugar… So if you like sweet drinks two sugars are more than enough.

Scoured the variety and went with a rainbow fresh roll cake, which was a sweet treat that hit the spot but certainly won’t have me coming back. Quite frankly I hope this modernized westernized pastry shop dies out before the originals anyway.

The reason I went into this place was because I needed to use a restroom, I went in, purchased a couple of items and did not expect much from it.
Well, it served as a good snack and a break from the long-​walking hours. The green tea with honey and the egg custard tart were both good. The staff was attentive too. It is located in Chinatown close to Chatham Square.

Bakeries are cropping all over Chinatown Manhattan and Pie Pie Q Café certainly want piece of the pie. After running around all over Chinatown for our bi-​weekly grocery errands, I wanted to briefly sit in stillness. Low and behold the server behind the counter was brash and completely dismissive of both my mother and I.
I wanted a measly egg custard tart and hot Green tea, while my mother opt for one pineapple bun and one coffee. They did not have any Green tea available and I do not drink coffee. The egg custard tart was okay as I’ve had better. The other pastries and baked goodies in the glass canopy did not look appealing as the service was unappetizing. Our total was under $ 5.00.
Loud music blaring overhead was unappealing for a Chinese bakery. This is not a night club and it was building a massive headache for me. Seating is available. Pie Pie Q is deliveries MEH quality Chinese baked goodies as the piece of the pie do not contain substance.

My friend and i walked into this bakery not knowing how this place would be but for the Portugese Egg Tart poster that they had hanging on the door. I have never had a P. Egg Tart before but my friend raved about it. We bought a few and tried it there and boy was it awesome. My girlfriend bought two dozens of them to take home.
The crust was really flakey and the filling was really good. It wasn’t too sweet and it was not dry like other egg tarts that i have had. It was just really darn good!
I wish i bought more of these to take home! Next time.

Stopped into this recently opened bakery in Chinatown. Upon walking in I was immediately assaulted by the belching of Celine Dion at an unbearable decibel. I was very tempted to walk right out as the blasting music was giving me a headache. But I decided to keep going, against my better judgment.
I took a quick glance around the pastry section. The usual crew were there, coconut bun, red bean bun, etc. I did not browse too long as I was incredibly bothered by the really loud music. I noticed that the counter was in the back of the store so I kept walking to see what other offerings were available. In a glass casing were trays of egg tart, both HK and Portuguese style. They looked really fresh and tempting but I opted out today because what really caught my attention was a steam table of hot food. There were congee, salty rice balls (tangyuan)-something hard to find, stir fried mei fun, meat buns… I picked a chicken sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves ($ 2) It was a bit under-​seasoned but not altogether bad. There were large chunks of chicken thigh Chinese sausage, and salty duck egg yolk.
I may return to try the egg tart but only if they turn the music down. *SMH*

Dad and I got 20% off our orders recently because Pie Pie Q Café just opened. Even better was the green tea cake — the most delicious, fragrant green tea cake I have ever ate. As I am about to put a bite in my mouth, I can smell and taste the green tea — a first, and that’s important to note since I’ve been enjoying green tea cakes for years and this is the first time I’ve actually tasted and smelled green tea.
There are a few tables for patrons to sit at but people seem to hang out for awhile with a cup of coffee and pastry.
Pie Pie Q Café also serves dim sum. I heard people order shrimp crepes and saw mini cakes and buns for sale as well.

I decided to come here with my mom. It seems pretty clean and decent. It’s a new grand opening bakery and they have 20% off right now. I’m excited to get the Garlic bread for my sandwiches so hopefully that will not disappoint me. Will try out other stuff when I go back next time.
