Not sure this is a dine-in location — may just be catering… Called to make a reservation and they were surprised we wanted to eat there. Not that friendly on the phone either.

Pizza was edible… better than most Boston slices, but worse than NYC’s finest. But the quality of everything else was HORRIBLE. My salad was wilted, my tomato was grossly overripe, and our appetizers were disgusting. What was worse than the food was the SERVICE. Took 30 minutes to get our pizza, and felt like another 30 minutes just to get our check. Will NOT go back!

i don’t know why i went in here… why did i go in here? do i not know better? do i not know that i should check Unilocal before i end up somewhere… especially when i am doubting the general feeling(shush i am indian and i am allowed extra sensory feeling power) and. when i am already judging the book by it’s cover. you get three stars because it wasn’t terrible terrible. but it was pretty um. ugh

After several looooong days alone in the office, I needed some sustenance and human interaction. So I met up with Denis for dinner. We both had put in a 12-hour day and needed a good, warm meal. This area isn’t exactly a diner’s paradise. It’s in the western wasteland by the Port Authority and I probably would never have gone there if a friend hadn’t recommended it. Besides, Denis and I were just so tired, we didn’t really argue over where to eat. I mentioned it and he just said fine. Since the office was around the corner, I got there first and was a bit worried when I saw that it was more of a take-out kind of joint. It’s a small space with maybe four or five tables. And, there were also NO customers in there. While I waited someone did go inside for take-out, so that helped a bit… So, we went in and sat down. I can’t say I remembered what Denis ordered(I think spaghettini alle vongole…), but I got the seafood pasta — spaghetti with scallops, clams and shrimp in a tomato and white wine sauce. The scallops were slightly overcooked, but the one thing I did appreciate was that the pasta was piping hot, which was exactly what we were both looking for. The meal wasn’t anything I’d go out of my way to have again, but it did satiate both our cravings for a hot meal.

This place was just plain pitiful. The pizza was not fit to be called NY pizza. I wanted to go to Lombardi’s but the people in my party were not willing to wait, so we ended up at this hole. Later on, one friend guzzled a bottle of Pepto Bismol because of his poor choice. The pizza here is warmed up over and over, and probably wasn’t that good to begin with. And it looked dirty. Yuck. Never again.

Well, one might say that Pomodoro is nothing to «rant or rave about» but I will rant a bit. $ 2.85 for a slice of mediocre plain pizza? Ridiculous. I guess people who don’t get into Lombardi’s come over here so Pomodoro figures they can rip them off or something. I don’t know, I just don’t feel like the«People on Unilocal love us» sticker should be in the window.

Pomodoro’s is tasty Italian food — nothing to rant or rave about(as it seems that the quality has decresed over the past few months since our last order … or maybe it was just today) — but still the best pasta you will get in Midtown East delivered to the office in under 45 minutes.
