Like some other reviews state, there are exceptions to the rules. Menu has a nice assortment yet ask for specials and you can sometimes order extra dishes like those sold by the food stand in front of Payless. Everything I’ve had from there was delicious.
Either way extremely great portion sizes, food is always fresh and prices are extremely reasonable! The family that owns it is very nice and helpful.
I’d say stop by or make an order someday you are too lazy to cook. It may become addicting :)

Walking down 3rd avenue I smelled the most heavenly thing in the world: steak and cilantro. The smell was coming from a little taco stand right in front of me. I wanted to buy a taco, but it was snowing. Then I saw it… A menu! The restaurant was just around the corner so I decided to check it out.
It was empty when I got here, but very clean and pleasant. The waiter spoke perfect English which I wasn’t expecting, but it was kind of nice.
They brought out complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa looked homemade and was very yum. I didn’t end up getting the steak tacos I’d been smelling, but the nachos I got were awesome. With fresh guacamole. Nom nom.
This is probably not the most authentic Mexican place in el barrio, but I was happy with my food, the prices are good, and the overall experience was relaxing and pleasant. Will be back!

I came here on a cold night with a lovely friend who had been here before. The spot just opened up in December and it is the restaurant location for the husband and wife team that sell the BOMB ASS gorditas on 117th and 3rd Avenue (In front of Payless). Their menu is funny because it lists random items, but go in there and ask for the gorditas. ALL of them are delicious but the Chicharron has a special place in my heart right now. They serve one large gordita for $ 5 and it truly is perfection. I was still in love with the flavors, so I ordered a quesadilla with potatoes and chorizo and it was equally amazing. Plus for $ 5, you really can’t go wrong with either one. Really excited for this little mom and pop shop and hope you are too! Stop by and support!

Wow! this place definitely deserves more than 5 stars! I just came in with a group o about 10 other people. My friend recommended the Gorditas. We all ordered some Gorditas de Chicharron. I initially ordered one and thought I would ordered the second one, but as soon as they came out I knew that one would be more than enough. As soon as I took a bite, my knees went weak with how absolutely delicious it was. The Gorditas was perfectly seasoned and it tasted like mom’s cooking. I almost wanted to get up and hug the cook. The lady who cooked the Gorditas, who is the owner, was very very sweet. The service was really fast as well. We received chips and salsa as free appetizer, and it was delicious! I couldn’t stop eating. after we finished our meal, the owner came out with two large plates of (freakishly delicious) fried Oreos (on the house). No doubt, this is a new fave spot. definitely recommend it!
