Purchased two made to measure suits. Fabric, detail, construction, and client service were all excellent. David is very knowledgeable about what he does and has exceeded expectations with me. The entire process took about a month. I needed the suits to be ready for my wedding after the second or third fitting. David understood the sense of urgency and overnights the suits after fixing little details.

It’s neither money nor power nor pedigree that distinguishes the well-​dressed man. It’s only one thing: sensibility. And sensibility, to a greater degree than anything else, is the mark of the gentleman sophisticate. It is its own declaration, heard only by the audience for which it’s intended – a small, increasingly obscure group of initiates. And when a man dresses particularly well – which is to say, not conspicuously or foppishly but smartly and discreetly – he holds himself out to the world as a member of that group.
Which brings me to David Reeves. David, I’ve come to learn, is one of the best bespoke makers in New York. And I’ve no doubt that before long, he’ll be known to the world. Some time ago, after many years of consideration, I resolved to commission a bespoke suit in the English tradition. I had a simple objective: to find the best New York maker within my price range ($ 3,500+). But what I soon learned is that David may very well make the best bespoke product in *any* price range. And mind you, I researched the matter ad nauseam. I read books on it; I sought the advice and counsel of knowledgeable men; and of course, I took a hard look at the product offered by storied New York makers charging $ 6,000 — $ 10,000. Make no mistake: David’s product was on par or better.
And that’s just the product. Then there’s David. If you don’t know, David previously worked for Gieves & Hawkes and Richard James on London’s famed Savile Row, which is to tailored clothing what Wall Street is to finance. He has been inside the belly of the beast. He has served the world’s most demanding clients at the world’s most demanding houses. He has borne witness to the best bespoke operations in the world. And frankly, that’s a large part of what he brings to you. But he’s also a sartorial counselor – affable, expert, and absolutely committed to making you look three cuts above the next man. In my case, I was nearly satisfied at the first try on, but David wasn’t. He didn’t like the shoulder line. So we did another try-​on. And another. And another. And then another. It wasn’t enough that I was satisfied; David had to be satisfied, too. As he says, «I have to make a product worthy not only of the client but of the house, as well.»

A quick update:
I received many compliments at my wedding on my entire ensemble from David. Spent the whole night dancing and running around. Everything was extremely comfortable and fit perfectly. Very very happy.

I’ve been working with David for almost a year and have nothing but great things to say about him. I’ve ordered several different pieces of clothing that have all turned out great. Besides the clothes themselves, David is a pleasure to work with and has fantastic customer service. Just this month, when customs lost a shipment of my clothing David took it upon himself to re-​order the clothing at a cost to himself. Further, when we realized he had ordered one of my pants in the wrong trouser he gave me the pair for free and immediately offered to order the correct trousers– again at a cost to himself. I would highly recommend David to anyone looking for a great tailor at a reasonable price.

My second, high end 3-​piece suit from David is of even better fit and quality than the MTM he had made for me. He can get the vest piece down perfectly, which I still think he has an eye for proportions. I am still impressed at how attentive he is when it comes down to the details and the customer service. You certainly get the full value of what you pay for with David.
My only quirk, which is not related to David’s service, is that the suitmaker he uses tends to add an odd flair to the «female» suit rather than keeping it to the standard male suiting than I would have preferred, which is all reversible, to some extent. In this case, it was the lapel shape being a bit weird. David has provided me the service to get it fixed by his tailor, but I think the shape is somehow asymmetric. It is still a fine piece and my current favorite because of the fit and quality though!

After considering the idea investing in a high-​quality suit for the last few years (I don’t wear suits daily or even weekly), I finally decided that the time was right and began thoroughly researching my options.
In New York those options are obviously endless. I went with David Reeves after having spent hours reviewing fashion forum threads about different designers, looking at their work, and even reading their interviews to get a sense for their personalities. It was the best wardrobe decision I’ve ever made.
The factors that mattered most to me were style sensibility, attention to detail, and customer experience/​care.
David promptly replied to my appointment inquiry and I stopped by a few days later for our consultation. What impressed me the most was that he really took the time to understand what I wanted, explain the process, and provide his expert guidance to help me arrive at a design choice that I felt confident in — and would look great it.
It’s an experience you just won’t get in a department store, the larger shops or a gimmicky place like My.Suit. Not that there’s anything wrong with those options, but David Reeves provides old-​school service and quality that is hard to find these days.
The end result was a suit that’ll make heads turn for all the right reasons. Not because it’s loud or over the top, but because the fit is perfect, the stitching and construction are beautiful, and the style is both modern and timeless.

David’s suits are exactly what you see in the pictures, and his service is even better. His love of clothing shines through in every conversation I had with him during the making of my bespoke wedding suit. There is just something about his suits that make them stand apart from others, not too flashy or trendy, yet still modern enough to look at home at any event.
Unlike other suits that may fit a particular era, a David Reeves suit certainly will stand the test of time. I’m a very, very difficult athletic fit, but my first basted fitting was spot on. An amazing testament to David’s attention to detail during our first measurements, how he paid attention to the nuances of my build and posture to allow him to get it right the first time. Even the sleeve pitch was right!
Save your money from going to another suit maker, and get a suit made by David. This is no bargain shopping, David is for true sartorialist. A person who knows what true quality is and the reason behind a price. If you appreciate these things then you will fully appreciate just what a David Reeves suit is all about.
