What can i tell you. reading some of these reviews its a joke. complaining about not having a rest room or selling a putty knife for $ 5 …really??? hello this is midtown … I love this store the owner keeps it real and speak the honest truth … he always helps me with my house projects… yes the prices are different then home depot but taking the area and his knowledge under consideration its worth every dollar… I recently needed to change a lock, the lock smith wanted 350.00 it costed me 150.00 i saved 200.00 because he gave me clear instructions how to do it my self and gave me all the correct products… thank you for being in the neighborhood.

The owner/​clerk essentially is a crook. Essentially lied and swindled me into buying a bike chain which he stated can’t be clipped. 1 week later it was clipped in broad daylight and my bike stolen. Avoid this dishonest and expensive crook at all costs. There is a home depot on 23^rd so please please please avoid.

When considering the service, the words «rude» and «ornery» come to mind. I would rather go out of my way to get what I need than give this business my money again.

Owner is not particularly interested in helping you; it seems he does a bunch of his business repairing things that people bring in. Not surprisingly, that is what he spends most of his time doing as well.
The place is overpriced (Manhattan-​sized prices), but convenient if you live here.
In sum, do it if you need something convenient, otherwise skip.

The person who was helping me was sort of abrupt but helpful nonetheless. It feels a bit like a mom and pop place, which I liked. I wouldn’t come here for a big home restoration project exactly. The prices are definitely on the higher side, but it’s one of the few hardware stores around.
This is now a True Hardware, from what I can tell by the banners.

Stores who treat their customers as I was treated here the other day do not deserve anyone’s business. I went to return a product I purchased an hour earlier and was SCREAMED at by the extremely rude store owner…“your brain must not be working right — we do not accept returns — we dont take back condoms or underwear — why would we take back your return??”
Absolutely disgusting — refused to lower his voice — kept pushing my things aside to take the following customer… i will NEVER give this man my business again and neither should you!
There is a phenominal hardware store on 29^th and 3^rd for those of you who think it’s the only one in the neighborhood — with nice employees who are willing to help and speak to you like a human being!!!

This is about the only hardware store in the neighborhood, but I almost always find what I’m looking for here. The prices are reasonable and the guy who works the floor is helpful and knows where everything is. The guy who runs the register (owner?) seems to hate all mankind and is pretty rude, but this is something I am willing to overlook if it saves me a trip to Home Depot.

So… I have been to this hardware store 10 or so times this year out of sheer convenience.
I went in there 3 times today to purchase paint for our apartment. Not much has changed since the last time I went there. They still have a large selection of paint, some slightly over-​priced hardware, and a rude store clerk, which I really can’t excuse.
I hate this place and am not going back.
