I had the pleasure at eating at Roast this evening with a friend. Firstly, please know it is not fast food. Everything is made fresh so there is a tiny wait for everything, but WELLWORTHIT. The décor is lovely; industrial/farmer’s market chic. Not too much or too little. Fresh flowers are on each table. It is not one of those places that has to fit 60 people one on top if the other. No «shtetl» seating, as I call it. Food-wise, we ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with roasted potatoes. Wow, is that sandwich ever a star sandwich! The meat is flavorful and included in the sandwich are pickles and perfectly lightly fried onion pieces. It is served in a tasty baguette and placed on a cute plate with a chicken and two pickle slices. It is not a sloppy sandwich to eat either. The roasted potatoes were equally as tasty. The staff is lovely and gracious. Talk to them! I did. They are proud of their work and the store and they are really nice and hard working. The night manager is Alon and he is awesome. All in all, a top notch experience. We hope they stay in the neighborhood for many, many years.

Service was a little slow, but food was great. I got the chicken wings and signature sandwich with fried chicken, I really liked it.

Just went to roast and had the 5 piece fried chicken, southwestern salad and corn bread. Everything was fresh and delicious, esspicially the corn bread coming right out of the oven. The fried chicken was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Would recommend this place and looking forward to coming back.

Being familiar with kosher food I was expecting smaller portions for the price. The portions were actually very generous… and the prices were actually very reasonable. I had Mediterranean soup, ¼ chicken, green beans and sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious.(And everything was thoroughly cooked.) We ate in, and the food was served promptly. The staff was very attentive. I hope in the summer they are opened until Friday afternoon… and open again Saturday evening.

Went to Roast this afternoon. Tried the 4 specials they offered. [Beignets] — The idea is great but I think texture needed a little tweaking and a little less cinnamon flavor. It was quite overpowering. [Mediterranean Soup] Flavors were absolutely perfect. It was freaking cold outside and this soup really hit the spot. It’s tomato based. They had bits of delicious chicken, veggies and some noodles. [Fried Cauliflower] I mean, if you screw up frying cauliflower you may as well close down. It’s a good thing they know what they’re doing. [Chicken Sliders] Ahhh I’ve honestly never seen anyone make such amazing chicken sliders. I don’t know what they did, but it blew me away. It really is a great spot for takeout or eat in for anyone in that neighborhood. Especially if you’re at Mt Sinai or surrounding hospitals. Also the décor is really inviting. Fresh, clean and very tasteful.

Ate here with my family, food was good, service was terrible. The chicken tenders, fried chicken are crunchy and yummy. The grilled chicken sandwich chicken was pink but the flavor was there even though it was undercooked. Salad was overdressed for my taste.(Tip: ask for dressing on the side) This place doesn’t deliver blow 75th street and even if you pay they will not deliver to you. Seems like its off to a shaky start. I hope they get it together because there aren’t many good kosher places in ues and above.

We came across this place back in mid-Dec, while looking for another restaurant closed by. It seemed like they just opened up and were not 100% ready yet. The drinks were not ready, so only served soda in can or bottled water. Floor was extremely slippery and I almost fell a couple times. But everything else was acceptable. Five of us shared a quarter French Rotisserie Chicken with 2 sides, 2-piece fried chicken with 2 sides, a salad, chicken tenders and chicken wings. We are not big eater, and their portion is just right for 5 of us. Wings were little spicy, but tasty. Fried chicken and chicken tenders were just ok, nothing very impressive. Sweet potato fries were ok, and it would be better if served with some honey. The regular fries were pretty good, if you like thick cut. The roasted French rotisserie chicken was amazing! The chicken flavor was pretty strong, which you can’t really taste that in their fried chicken. Their price is reasonable. However, the restaurant is pretty small, so it may get pretty crowded and not really suitable for party more than 6 people. When our party of 5 went in, we had to move the tables and chairs around myself to fit in. I am not sure if they figure out everything about running this new business more smoothly yet. But, if you like chicken and in that area, I would recommend you to give it a shot.

This place is delicious, reasonably priced, and a really comfortable relaxed environment. Alon was so friendly and accommodating. As someone who recently became kosher this restaurant is a breath of fresh air. In an industry where people are often rude and the food is mediocre, alon at roast sets the bar above the rest in terms of hospitality. Thank you for bring the home style to roast. Also the chicken and sides are delicious!!!

A sensual delight of green beans covered in slices of almonds brought memories of my Barbadian aunt who cooked her green beans tasting the same way as the delicious beans at ROAST. Head down to ROAST and meet Alon, the young house manager, who makes you feel right at home. The aroma of Southern cooking hits your nostrils and the chicken is finger liken good BUT, the best part about ROAST is the heritage behind the cooking. ROAST is Kosher. As a black middle age, Christian woman, I know little about Kosher food. I asked Alon if the soup of the day had milk in it. He polity explained the no milk rule. You can eat at ROAST alone and feel fine. Come in and meet the friendly staff and learn about a new culture. The staff is multicultural and the music is rap, which I hate. I’m going to recommend to Alon to play jazz or classical the next time I dine here.

Love this new place, I haven’t had a bad experience to date. The roasted chicken is very well seasoned with spices and moist, sweet potato fries are simply delish, as well as the rice and almond string beans. The atmosphere is very welcoming and staff are friendly. As it’s a busy place, there could be a wait, but its worth it.

The fried chicken was delicious some of the best I’ve ever had, sides were also excellent though at the time I went between lunch and dinner they didn’t have the full menu of sides available but gave us a bigger portion of what they did have

I waited til my third visit to give this review. The first time was still the«soft» opening, so I gave them a pass on the service mishaps and the so-so quality. Figure everything needs to get ironed out, so that’s ok– it’s a new business. The second time, it was somewhat busy and fully open, but it took me FORTYFIVE minutes to get a two piece chicken with sides. I finally get it, and the quality still hasn’t improved. Tonight, I decide to give it one last shot– food came at a reasonable time, but it was still bad. The batter on the fried chicken was absurdly bland, the fried chicken was unevenly cooked(moist in some sections, completely overdone in others). That’s your signature product– and it’s awful. There was barely any spice whatsoever in that fried chicken batter. I would have settled for a little salt in there even. The fries were average and properly cooked. The green beans were tasty, but so many of them still had the stems on and were improperly cut. That’s seriously cooking 101 stuff. For what you pay it simply isn’t worth it. Look, I wanted this place to be good. I really did. I’m loving that my block finally has this and some other food choices on this strip. I want to support local business. But I can’t. The product is mediocre at best and the service is just short of a complete disaster. Sorry guys, I can’t get behind this place at all.

Perfect for big appetites and big families! There’s nothing like trying a place that just opened up. The atmosphere, vibe and service was perfect. you could quickly tell they cared and wanted the best experience for every individual customer. I took a chance and asked them what they recommended. Five piece juicy tender chicken thighs, STEAKFRIES(Very cool) and to top it off some habanero cornbread. Seriously, DELICIOUS! I will definitely be stopping by(or ordering) very soon!

Although they had a good opening of the restaurant and the kosher aspect, this place sells undercooked chicken specially during the weekends and busy hours. My friend got sick after having some chicken(nausea and throwing up) which I think is related to undercooked chicken. Undercooked chicken can carry salmonella and it is SERIOUS!

This is my first review ever. I came to this place after a recommendation. Sunday night 6:43 pm and they’re sold out of their signature fried chicken. They said a 30 minute wait. I felt like an idiot trekking all the way up town. They have to do a much better job keeping food ready for a rush on a Sunday evening.

I really wanted to love this place. The first time food was really good but after that every time I went there something was wrong . Let me start, one of disappointing experience was at one of their busy weekend hours. We ordered 5 pieces fried chicken and most of pieces were uncooked and you could see red and pink flesh when you cut the meat. After I saw the red flesh I didn’t eat the rest of my food but since they were really busy and place is so tiny i thought if I mentioned it won’t be good for their business and I didn’t want to do that to the new business in neighborhood .even though I didn’t eat the rest of my food but I guess unfortunately enough to make me feel nausea. I should have stopped going there after this but I thought of giving this place another chance. Couple of days later I went there and while I was ordering I told them about uncooked chicken and the nice lady at the register said she will make sure she will let the chef know . We ordered couple of times by phone and picked up and all the time they mixed up the order . Tonight It happen again I order white meat and when I got home I open the box and saw chicken legs. This time I walked back and told them politely and wait to get my food after I got home again I saw one of two pieces is chicken thigh and when I cut it i saw blood and pink flesh and the smell of uncooked chicken. I got so upset and by that time I totally lost my appetite, I had to walk back again and when I show them the uncooked chicken they didn’t try to apologize. He said to other employee: give her some pie to take home instead!!! There is a major complaint on undercooked chicken and instead of addressing the issue or reimbursement they offers me a pie instead??? Sorry but you will loose business if you continue like this. I used to order 2 – 3 times a week and it won’t happen again.

This is my favorite kosher restaurant in the city. It’s not only delicious but also reasonably priced! The staff is very friendly, especially Chef Avery! I can’t wait to go back again!

Came here with some friends for the first time and we thought the food was delicious! Love the décor– its a cute rustic place and the staff is friendly. it’s a bit small and the place fills up quickly, so be prepared to wait for a table. The food was very(surprisingly) reasonably priced for NYC. The chicken is fresh and flavorful-unlike any other restaurant I have tried. I can’t wait to come back!

I’m giving this restaurant a 3 star rating because my husband liked it. Otherwise it would be a 2 star rating. The décor is nice. We ordered the signature sandwich and, once we received it, the bacon was missing. We asked about the bacon and the employees told us they were out. It would have been nice to know at the time we were ordering and paying(since you pay right after you order). The green beans were bland. The fries and fried chicken were average. Schnitzel express is comparable to this, just a lot cheaper. The employees are nice but they seem not to communicate well with each other and to be a little all over the place. Sad to see another kosher place that doesn’t meet the mark.
