Room Escape Adventures

I definitely recommend this experience. Went with some friends for my birthday. The puzzles are engaging, and you won’t get away with laziness if you want to win. Teamwork is a must. There is too much for small team to do. You really need to harness everyone that attends. The actors are GREAT. They keep the energy high. We had a great time, even though we didn’t make it out!

This is SO much fun. For real, my team and I loved it! I’ve actually gone twice– the first I did not know everyone in the room with me, and the second, I was there with my coworkers and friends. The second time was definitely more fun and more successful. We solved the puzzle with zero seconds left, and therefore did not win, but damn it we solved it!
The room is small and the zombie is loud, it can be unnerving and you fight or flight might kick in. When they say «don’t drink before you come,» it’s good advice. One of the few situations that drinking will actually not make better, as the puzzles are very cerebral and the drinking befuddles your ability to handle it. I may or may not be speaking from experience.
Although the puzzles are the same, you are not often aware of all of them, and don’t know how every puzzle was solved, so it’s still fun to go back and try again. Heck, I’ve been twice now, and I still don’t know how to solve everything. Most of what I did in the summer, I did not remember this time around. The general consensus after our experience was that we would all be willing and excited to do it again. Last, our hosts, Kyle and Kortney were both awesome! Seriously, Kortney’s gig is tough, staying in zombie character and throwing herself around the way she did — I’m sure she goes home with bruises, and she did a fantastic job. I’d definitely recommend this experience– the more the merrier, especially if you know everyone that you are going with.

Only been to one other escape the room game. This was pretty challenging with a ~24% success rate but definitely doable. Kortney and Kyle were great during the event. I highly recommend this place.

Went here for a leadership team builder. Unfortunately didn’t make it out in time :(Courtney was a great host and Mallory was the best zombie. Such a great time.

This was a great adventure. Stuck in a room with a zombie and 12 friends for Maureen’s birthday. Trying to find clues to get out on under an hour. We did it with zero time to spare! Chelsea & Clare (the professor & zombie) were fantastic. I would highly recommend this if your looking for something fun and different.

This was my first escape the room adventure and I had so much fun!!! We were a party of 4 and we teamed up with 3 other couples to find the clues! You get a clue, you open a lock, you go to the next one, remember what you did or saw because you gonna use it again. So so so much fun! Team work will save you, have someone distract your cute zombie so you can access a lock.
Very fun experience! It’s like being a kid again :) you laugh, you scream, you run, you have one hour to save yourself and your team!

Had an amazing time, I highly recommend it! I’ve been to two other rooms and this is by far my favorite.
Our Zombie Chelsea and Clue Master Courtney made sure we had an awesome time, they are the bomb. Go. Just go.

This is my third escape the room experience and I will say that this has been my best one so far. I took my high school students and we had so much fun. Our host Victoria was very cool, she was great with the kids and good at giving us clues.
The room has a 26 percent success rate and with a zombie added in the mix it is intense!!! The zombie Mallory was so good. Talk about staying in character! She had one of my kids scared and had us all running the entire time.
My group was able to get out with 26 seconds to spare. Not bad! It definitely has a good amount of challenging clues even when you do find the clues you have to juggle that with staying away from the zombie. What I loved about this escape the room is that at the end Victoria gave us notes on how everyone did and how they contributed to helping us escape! Nice touch :). I also love that you can come back and be a clue giver for your friends or family.

This place is awesome!!! So much fun!!! We had a group of 12 and everyone enjoyed them selves. Courtney was our Zombie. She is one sexy zombie!!! (Zombie loves you). This was our second room escape and it was a lot more fun than the first one we did at another location.

PRO-​TIP: Wear closed toe shoes! If you’re smaller, expect to be pushed around and pushed into furniture A LOT.
This was the third room escape I’ve done.
Pros: Our zombie actor was HILARIOUS and everyone overall seemed to enjoy themselves.
Cons: Puzzles were too often too difficult or too easy, but at least when they were difficult, the attendant in the room provided hints. I think we had 10 or 12 people in one room — WAY too many to work together (they obviously packed us in to make money faster). Being a smaller person in a room of 4 larger, seemingly overenthusiastic men, I was often stepped on and pushed when they would jump out of the way of the zombie. I walked away from the experience bruised and frustrated that this company would pack so many people into such a small space without worrying about the safety of the participants.

Fun «escape the room» experience with an extra challenging & creepy twist of a zombie being in the room with you – and you have to avoid the zombie while trying to piece together various clues. Teamwork and communication is crucial, as well as maintaining composure with the zombie present. I went to it today at 12:30 and the assistant and zombie were amazing. In fact I was blown away by the performance of the zombie. Looks like they’ve run this enough times to do things right. Also the stairway and entry to get there are a little spooky to boot!

Apropos of the upcoming Halloween season, our group of friends were paired up with another small batch of NYC strangers to try and make our way out of a locked room. We quickly and necessarily became fast friends as we tried to unearth, put together, and decipher clues that were planted all over the room so that we could get out in 60 minutes… all while a chained zombie tried to swipe at us. That its chain became loosened a little bit more every ten minutes only added to the pressure and our search for clues were often interrupted by a lot of yelling, screaming, and scrambling whenever the zombie started crawling our way. Anyone who was touched by the zombie was proclaimed ‘infected’ by the moderator and would have to stand on a gray ‘X’ for the remainder of the game, though they’d be able to participate verbally from their spot.
All in good, scary fun.
Keeping in line with the vein of Unilocal secrecy, no spoilers will be revealed by this review, but suffice it to say you will need every last second to work through the clues. No special skills are required for any of these tasks, though collaboration and communication are crucially important. Our moderator was Victoria (who played the role of Dr. Oxy) and she stayed in the room with us, ostensibly to see whether we would be able to accomplish our tasks, but when we got stuck on clues, she would give us just enough of a nonverbal hint to get us going again.
Our large group didn’t actually make it out by the time our buzzer went off but we’d been bare inches away from the finish line. At the end, Victoria congratulated us for our valiant attempts and individually recognized each member of our group for their contributions because, as it turned out, she’d been secretly taking notes on us on her clipboard the whole time.
We may not have finished, but we were tuckered out from the sheer adrenaline rush of the hour, along with all of the terrified screaming and hysterical laughing. HUGE ups to Victoria, our beloved Dr. Oxy, and Courtney (our zombie), who played their roles flawlessly and kept each second saturated with equal parts terror and fun. Escape The Room is a guaranteed good time, win or lose, and I’d definitely be willing to go back and try my hand at it again.

Did this with a mixed group of 11 people. Some of us were friends, some were friends of friends, and some were total strangers. Having done Escape the Room before (And won! 2 for 2 baby!) with a group of close friends, I was curious to see how this new dynamic would change things.
First of all, the clues are pretty tough. We spent the first half of the time finding a lot of clues, but not knowing what do to with them or piece them together. Communication is KEY to this. The majority of us were definitely communicating as much as possible, yelling out clues or things we thought were clues. The others? Not so much. There were a couple people that were quietly trying to work out the clues they found instead of sharing. And there was a couple others who spent most of the time standing around. It was a case of too many cooks in the kitchen, I guess. Nonetheless, when we started getting close, we all managed to come together in the end.
Some highlights:
— The zombie is more startling than scary, and we actually started to enjoy her as we got used to her. She definitely adds a new element to the game, as we found ourselves backing away in a panic at times, and this made things more fun and comical.
— Our host was in the room with us, giving us non-​verbal clues whenever we got stuck. This was helpful, as there were a couple times where the game props actually failed and we wouldn’t have gotten them otherwise if she hadn’t helped us (a broken lock on a suitcase, a stuck drawer).
–One of our players tried to save another player from the zombie by yanking on the zombie’s chain. No bueno! This is against the rules and he ended up being «eaten» by default. Such a heroic sacrifice though!
— Once you manage to solve the clues and open the door, there’s still the task of getting past the zombie to get out of the room. It doesn’t count until everyone is out of the room, so run like hell!
–At the conclusion, the host walks you through step by step how the clues are meant to be solved, and she reads her observations of all the players and recognizes each person’s part. Which is really great, I wish the other games would do that.
Definitely an awesome time! Highly recommended.

I’ve never had so much fun feeling so stupid!
Our team did this on a Friday night and, while we definitely all got eaten by Dr. Oxy (the zombie), we had a blast. The riddles and puzzles are very clever and were definitely challenging to complete — I’m not sure we would have been able to escape the room even if we weren’t being constantly chased around the room by the zombie, but that’s the fun of it all. Just solving the puzzles would have been pretty intellectual, but the zombie made it physical, frantic, and hilarious (and terrifying).
Also had a great experience setting up a reservation here — it was very easy to send an email to reserve a timeslot for a private party, and then allowing all the participants to sign up online and pay individually. Much more streamlined process than having to purchase all tickets upfront and get reimbursed (though you can do it this way if you prefer, or for corporate events).
An unexpected benefit was also receiving feedback after the challenge was over. We were all wearing nametags (although we didn’t put our real names because we’re a little nuts) and we got feedback on what roles we played and what clues we discovered at the end, which was a nice recap on the hour. Also makes this even more easy to justify as a team-​building event!
Definitely recommend doing this with your friends or colleagues, and then go out for drinks afterwards to either celebrate or drown your sorrows. Probably drown your sorrows. Almost certainly drown your sorrows.

Great fun! My girlfriend took me out for my birthday to trapped in a room with a Zombie. We had great time! The cast was great and very believable. The price was right and the group we were with was able to work together and survive with seconds left on the clock!!! We did it!!! Zombie Pride!

Great Fun! Definitely recommended if you’re looking for something novel, interesting, AND challenging to do around the city. I went with friends, and we had a great time… but I’d also take my work staff because the experience is great for team building!
The host was entertaining and helpful throughout the entire experience… and, the zombie… well, depending on the moment, was a little scary, annoying, or helpful – exactly how she should be!
I’d definitely encourage folks to check this place out, and I’ll be spreading the word around.
My recommendation for the team who run the place are to (a) update the Web site and FB pages so that they are on par with some of the competition around town (God, you guys need a new logo and Web site really badly); (b) spend a little money making a background wall sign for the step and repeat photo wall… and better participant signs for the final photo; and, © put your phone number on the outside building door because when we got there it was LOCKED! Luckily, we called the pole dancing place that’s in the same building and was able to get those lovely ladies to let us in.
Keep up the good work! With improvements, you guys could definitely smash the competition.

ROOM: Trapped in a Room with a Zombie
CHALLENGE RESULT: My group of 12 solved all the clues with 1 minute remaining… but no, we did not make it out. Womp womp! (Although that’s controversial as even the game master had to make 5 tries to try and open the final lock…).
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Prior to the game, you get to choose a fun «Zombie Escape Nickname» for added fun, and that is what the game master will call you by so get creative!
VERDICT: This is a MUST-​TRY! Out of Escape the Room, Mission Escape Games and Room Escape Adventures, Room Escape Adventures: Trapped in a Room with a Zombie is my favorite of the three (See my review on the other two for more details.)!
— — — -Unique Factors:
There are three factors that set Room Escape Adventures apart from the other two:
1) No spoken or written clues are provided: Similar to Mission Escape Games, the game master is in the room with you. However, he will not speak. Additional help is provided by the game master via body-​language, such as «intently gazing at a certain painting» which then hopefully would prompt you to inspect that painting.
2) Need to actually solve and understand the result of the clues (no getting lucky): Unlike, Escape the Room and Mission Escape Games where you can bypass some of the clues and still make progress, Room Escape Adventures ensures that everything is solved via logic rather than luck. Before being able to continue, you have to explain the reasoning behind what you’re about to do and show understanding of the clue to the game master; otherwise you haven’t solved the clue and you CANNOT move forward.
3) There’s a Zombie (duh): For those who fear zombies, no need! There’s only one zombie, and it’s really meant to be more comical than scary. The zombie is there to enhance the experience and act as an additional obstacle — as in you can’t easily get to clues or execute an action in order to make progress if the zombie is there. Rather than scaring you, the zombie will distract you with its cuteness so stay focused!
I thought this would be the last time I tried to escape a room, but Room Escape Adventures changed my mind! With the added challenge of trying not to be touched by the zombie as well as having to actually solve the clues and explain them to the game master, I would say this was the most fun out of the three rooms. While the clues are not necessarily harder — in fact, they may be a tad easier — Room Escape Adventures manages to take the «escaping a room» concept and present it in a whole new way.

— Pictures: Escape discourages personal pictures. The first time we went, the staff member seemed to purposely take blurry pictures. The second time we went, the staff member was nice enough to take it but did ensure that it was inconspicuous… so it seems like Escape does not allow for pictures taken with your personal device.

I love escape games live or online or in an app.
The problem I had is not with the game, I love the zombie and I love the game. I was just not happy with a couple of the teammates. We had a couple of people on our team who were not team players and basically were so full of themselves and forgot there were other players in the room. They would not communicate even when asked direct questions. That is not fun to play with people like that so with that said, pick your team wisely. I do not recommend leaving it to chance who your teammates are because if you end up with someone who is arrogant and is not a team player… it’s not cool.
Most important thing about this game is teamwork and communication. If you find a clue, share it with your team. Do not keep the clue to yourself, involve your team. There is no «I» in team. I can not stress that enough.
The live version of the escape game is just like the online escape adventure games or the ones in apps.
You will be physically locked in a room with other players and a zombie. You will have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles, find clues, and escape the room within a set time limit, which in our case it was one hour. The players explore their surroundings in order to find these puzzles, clues, keys, locks, etc. You have to be observant and use critical thinking skills get out of the room… hopefully within the time limit or it will be game over for you. The zombie will try their best to tag you out. The zombie is on a chain where the chain will be a foot longer every 5 minutes. You have to quickly move around this zombie in order not to get tagged. If you get tagged, you will have to stand in the corner of the room for the rest of the game and only contribute verbally.
Bring friends who are good at team work and communication. No one wants someone who holds clues for themselves and not share the game with others. Tell everyone when you find a clue!!! Let the room figure it out. NOT A TIME TO BE SELFISH!!! If you get a room full of people you know… it’s more fun. But you can join others’ games too.
Bring a notebook to keep track of the clues and SHARE THE CLUES! Let everyone in the room take a look at all clues. Give others a crack at the clues! I can’t stress this enough. It’s a GROUP EFFORT. It’s a team exercise. There is no «I» in team!
Keep track of the time. In our game we had a gamekeeper who kinda nudged at us when she felt like we needed help.
Make sure you get to the game early and on time. They do lock the door behind you.
Wear comfy clothes. It’s not a place to wear heels and short skirts, you might have to look under things and crawl a bit.
Last but not least, for goodness sake, go to the bathroom before the door is locked!!!

This past weekend 9 of us defect the zombie and escaped with only 20 seconds left on the clock!
Many of us have challenged ourselves at other «Escape from the Room» games so we are experienced bu this game adds a whole new meaning to thinking on your feet!
Our zombie just kept us running back and forward around the room. It’s like a wolf chasing a pack of sheeps around a tree.
The zombie is chained to one side of the room but the length of the chain keeps growing longer and longer as the game clock keeps ticking away.
Puzzles and clues are located all around the room and sometimes the zombie blocks the clue area and even steals the puzzle pieces already found!
But you can touch or be touch by the zombie or you are out of the game!
You don’t even have time to be frustrated by the puzzle because you are constantly running from the zombie!
I totally recommend this game. The puzzles are not that hard but can you think on your feet???
I was tagged out by the zombie. :((but is was still fun watching my team mates run from the zombie!

I cannot believe I haven’t reviewed this yet! I went a while back, but this is the kind of experience that you don’t forget easily.
To start with, I think these puzzles were at the perfect difficulty — possibly because we all escaped with just seconds to spare. Obviously I can’t say too much about the puzzles themselves, but I can say they were unique and creative across the board. Further bonus points to the very fun «omnipotent» host, and a very enthusiastic zombie.
The space itself was clean, though a little cramped — which really just added to the zombie threat. I didn’t mind at all, though it got a bit warm in the room. Dress lightly, and avoid heels.
A lot of adrenaline, but not much in the way of «spooky», except for actually getting up to the right floor. The entrance came off a bit sketchy, but in a city of speakeasies, we all know not to judge by now.
Anyway, the escape rate by group was somewhere around ¼ or ¹⁄₅. Good luck in there — you might need it.
