Rothmans

These guys really took care of me. I got an awesome blue Hugo Boss to wear to a wedding and everyone stunned with how well it fit and looked on me (yes of course they include tailoring) i highly recommend Rothmans whether you’re in need of some help finding a good look guys, or just looking for very fine clothing. Shirts, sweaters, etc and btw, their suits are less than Macy’s!

I had an emergency about an hour before being a groomsman at my best friend’s wedding; I needed suspenders and the buttons sewn on my pants for said suspenders, and Jennifer (I believe is her name) ran around the whole store making sure everything was taken care of. I’ll be back soon!

I’m not young, slim and trim and I needed a new suit. Unlike most of the major men’s clothing stores — Barney’s, Bloomingdales, Bergdorfs, Saks, Brooks Brothers — where either they carry only trendy, millennial styles, the prices start at $ 1,500 or the style stinks — Rothman’s has it all. They haven’t given up on us Boomers — at least not yet. They have an excellent selection of reasonably priced, high quality, stylish suits that fit guys like me. They don’t stock high end, luxury priced, designer men’s clothing… so, don’t go there expecting that.
Rothman’s is great. Check it out!

Excellent customer service. I’m in LA, my boss was in New York and needed a tuxedo shirt. They didn’t have one in stock but checked their most recent shipment and found one. They even delivered it to his hotel the same day. Super friendly and super helpful.

Superb!!! Excellent service, they couldn’t be more helpful. I went to get a «save the duck winter jacket» and found a real gem in Rothmans. Great clothes, there is so much to choose from, and the place is styled really nice.
If only Saks, Bloomy’s etc. had as good of customer service as Rothmans, retail wouldn’t be so down !

The Herschel cult flocks here for their backpacks, and you can also grab some other solid menswear here, but the service leaves a lot to be desired.

Great shopping experience. Fantastic service from Vincent and Eddie the tailor and great selection of contemporary updates to classic styles. So wish I had discovered Rothmans years ago. Not pushy at all and very accommodating. Summer sale= great values. I’ll definitely be back.

Basically, if you’re a man and you want to look great, shop here. And if you have a man in your life whose look you want to, ahem, upgrade, Rothmans is the spot!
My then-​fiancé now-​husband and I came here to shop for a suit for him to wear to our wedding. I have to confess, I was a little jealous! The service and attention he got were better here than what I received at many of the bridal salons (and I went to A LOT of those!).
The salespeople really know menswear, and they’ll tell you the truth about what looks good. I’ve been back several times (my brother in law bought a suit here, too!) and was always made to feel like a VIP. I really appreciate that the sales associates aren’t pushy — they’re not trying to make a sale, they’re trying to make you look good!
We were especially impressed with how fabulous (and relatively affordable) the custom-​made shirts were. My husband is tall and slim, and it’s hard to find shirts that are flattering, but he looks like James Bond in the ones he got here! (OK, maybe I’m biased).

I’ve made thousands in suit purchases here over the years. My most recent suit purchases will sadly be my last. The quality of staff has gone from one of knowledgeable professionals to hack sales people that couldn’t be more interested in anything other than ringing the register. To boot, I picked up my clothes to find that my purchases were now on sale — the old staff would have either advised of pending sale or adjusted. New staff wouldn’t even acknowledge.

There are lots of reasons why I enjoy shopping at Rothmans, but it all comes back to one thing: customer care.
There is a great collection of clothing here; a well curated collection of men’s fashion from top to bottom — suits, sports jackets, shirts, shoes, jeans, etc. Everything from business to casual, workday to weekend.
The staff is attentive and well informed and more than willing to work with customers to find the right item and the right fit. And, if you have any post purchase issues they are more than happy to work with you to resolve them. They are committed to maintaining a long term working relationship with their customers, and it shows.
There is a great family feeling here. It is not at all like shopping in a big box store. It is, in fact, like shopping at the kind of neighborhood shop New York used to have so many of.
Shop here (and for that matter in the Scarsdale branch) and you will see what i mean… you won’t regret it.

I have shopped at Rothmans over the past decade — it was never a place I would go regularly, but would pop in when in Union Square, as they would often have interesting selection at reasonable prices.
Most recently, had a terrible experience a few months ago when purchasing formal wear. firstly, the first salesperson was not overly knowledgeable about the options available including customization of accessories. The next salesperson was more helpful but not overly friendly. She was supposed to get back to us in a few days after checking with their suppliers, but it took several weeks and we had to reach back out to her multiple times to get an answer.
More egregious, was our treatment at payment — the cashier (an average height, younger, male with a shaved/​buzzed head) was exceptionally rude to the point where his colleagues were clearly shocked at his behavior and standing around wide eyed and aghast. Needless to say, I have made my last purchase at Rothmans.

I’ve purchased thousands worth of cloths from them. Always good quality and always helpful staff. I never go top of the line but the staff still seems to provide good service. Their in house tailoring is also very helpful.

Rothmans is my secret weapon. Bought my first real interview suit here 25 years ago, and been the «go to» ever since.
Two finer gentlemen you’ll never meet. Ask for Jim or Ken; if you’re ever in a bind or need some friendly suggestions, just ask. Great, friendly service and staff.
From suits/​formalwear to sportcoats to jeans/​smart casual, you can never go wrong here.

I had a great experience getting a tuxedo for my wedding here. They also did a great job with the tux for my dad and one my brother. I mostly worked with Raul, who was consistently very helpful and attentive. Basically, when I first went in, he helped me find a tuxedo that my wife and I loved immediately, at a very reasonable price. Over the following months, I went in or e-​mailed with him several more times to make sure the fitting was correct, pick out the accessories, etc. Everything went the same way: they immediately found me exactly what I wanted, and I paid less for it than I anticipated. For example, Raul helped me design a custom shirt and tie; they cost less than what I have paid for non-​custom shirts and ties at a high end department store, yet they were better quality and exactly what I wanted. We also got beautiful ties for my entire wedding party at a great price.
Maybe their most impressive work was on my brother’s tux. He is currently living in Central America, so he got measured there and I gave Raul the measurements. The plan was that we would go in when my brother arrived in the states, two days before the wedding, and the tux would be waiting. They would get any last-​minute alterations done for us once he tried it on. Well, somehow the tux basically fit perfectly; I think they maybe made one minor adjustment overnight. It just shows how flexible they were in meeting our needs.
Outside of tuxes, I’ve bought a number of casual items from Rothman’s. While they were not cheap, I think the prices are on par for what you would pay at a department store or boutique. They stock really nice, quality clothing. I’ve loved everything I’ve bought. My dad actually bought two suits when he went in to get measured for the tux, and he’s really happy with them.
Bottom line: Rothman’s has a great selection of high-​quality formal and casual clothing, as well as fantastic customer service. I would highly, highly recommend them.

I went in to buy a suit for my wedding, but was immediately put off by the pushy salesman. He had no interest in what I was asking for and kept trying to push suits twice outside my budget. The salesperson continually disregarded what I said I wanted, and even used threatening language when I said I did not like a certain suit.
Aside from the horrible service experience, their selection was surprisingly limited for a specialty store, and I was quoted a tailoring service that would take a month and a half (compared to 10 days at a department store)! I ended up going to Bloomingdale’s later that afternoon and had a great experience along with a discount — don’t waste your time with this place.

Disappointed with my experience with Rothmans. Approx. four sales people on the floor on a sleepy Saturday afternoon and I was not asked once if I needed assistance (I was browsing pretty hard too — which then turned into an experiment to see if I could prompt someone to ask me if I needed help)!
At least try to do your job. (See a few reviews below from Daniel — this doesn’t seem to be a one-​off issue)
The funny part came when I bought something and two sale people suddenly awoke and scrambled to ring me up.
Pretty Woman/​Rodeo drive syndrome.
Will go to Barney’s from now on.

They really are fantastic. I was unable to buy a suit from them, I needed something in a hurry, and they did not have much in my size. However, they were extremely helpful.
I ended up finding a suit online, and took it to a local tailor, who … well did a horrible job. I called the guys at Rothman’s, told them what happened, and they had me come in so their tailor could fix it (two day turn around).
They never tried to pressure me into a purchase, and were more than happy to help me get this suit fixed up.
Next time, when I am not in a rush to get a suit, I will be sure to get it from Rothman’s. These guys are extremely professional!

Pretentious, arrogant salesmen. SO condescending and dismissive if you say you want anything other than their $ 2,000 Canali suits.

I really like this store and the one in Scarsdale. If you are a fashion maven who wants a huge selection or to hunt for your own deals then maybe this isn’t the place. But for someone that wants a nice affordable curated collection of clothes this is the spot. You’ll also sometimes find some great deals on premium brands as sales often apply to the whole store. It’s an excellent place to shop for yourself of for a gift for dad/​boyfriend/​husband. Way easier to get stylishly outfitted here than a department store or a tired branded store (i.e. Brooks Brothers)
I think some of the negative reviews on here are people with an Agenda, want a different shopping experience (huge far reaching collection), or have unrealistic expectations about service.
