If you’re looking to score a reservation last minute you should just forget about it. Having garnered quite the popularity, situated in Nolita, Rubirosa is one of the best pizza spots in town. Having dined here twice now, both times I haven’t been disappointed. Rubirosa has an old rustic feel with wood seating and high top tables. Everything about this spot feels authentic and inviting. The pizza is the perfect concoction of crispy flavorful thin crust. The small pizzas are actually quite big and can be shared between 3 people easily. We ordered the Fresca pizza and topped it with some oregano. For pasta we got the Spaghetti Alla Chitarra. The best part was the sauce which you could tell had been simmered and slow cooked because of the flavor. Having extra sauce left over we used it for dipping the bread in. My only complaint about Rubirosa is that A.) the pizzas take a while to come out. B.) Unless you’re okay with a late night dinner reservation or come at an off peak time you can forget about getting a reservation.

A cosy spot with a very European feel. The super thin crust pizza was very traditional Italian and made just right. The meatball spaghetti had a homemade feel to it. The meatballs were juicy and seasoned perfectly. Overall an amazing spot to grab some authentic Italian comfort food.

Simple yet hearty dishes with casual homey atmosphere. The pizza is the thinnest I have ever eaten before! And the meatball pasta was soooo yummy !!!

1÷30÷16 placed an order over the phone and paid for it. Girl gives me an estimated time of 35 – 45 mins for my food to be ready. I said great gave her my name and phone number. My boyfriend heads over to pick up the food. Host asks my boyfriend what the order was after he had given my name. My boyfriend waits another 30mins before he asked the host to check if the food was ready.(I mean this is why we were given a time to pick up right?) She finally brings up the food. My boyfriend didn’t know I paid for it for which I didn’t tell him(because he likes to play I’m the man card) Host still proceeds to authorize his card. Now my boyfriend leaves the restaurant calls me to tell me he has the food and to vent of what transpired. When I realized that he said that he gave her his card. I was livid. My boyfriend goes back to the restaurant and l am still on the phone. He is telling the host that I had already paid when the order was placed and that she still took his card. She responded with an attitude and speaking to him as if he was having comprehension problems while saying that he should’ve looked at the receipt. I’m sorry but that was your mistake Ms. Host! You took his card. Maybe you forgot that it was already paid for. When realizing you should have let him know. Anyone would think that there’s a double charge. After leaving the restaurant again. My boyfriend becomes even more upset as was I. I told him to go back and speak to a manager about her behavior. Now my boyfriend is not confrontational at all. But he decided to turn back. He did not want to go through that host again so he spoke to the bartender Jimmy. Whom is by the way amazing. Serves us all the time and has made our experiences just wonderful. My boyfriend didn’t want to speak to a manager. But strongly feeling that someone should know about this hosts appalling behavior. Ugh! What a dreadful experience!

Enjoyed dinner here last night with 2 friends that happen to be gluten free so this review is solely based on the gluten free choices. I will say that I have eaten here several times before and have always enjoyed my food. We started off with the calamari and mozzarella sticks. I have to say if someone didn’t tell me they were gluten free I would have never known! The crunch and texture on the calamari was amazing and super delicious. The mozzarella sticks were melty and delicious. We them got 2 pizza as the gluten free sizes are different and a bit smaller. We got the famous tie dye(pesto sauce, red sauce and vodka sauce) and half plain and half with prosciutto. The tie dye pizza tastes better to me then the other pizza but both were great. If you have any friends or family members with a gluten free allergy this is the place to go where you can both really enjoy!

3.5 stars I’ve been wanting to go here for a while. The pizza here is SUPER thin like paper thin but the sauce and cheese were fresh and on point. What is amazing is that the crust doesnt get soggy from the sauce and cheese. We got that vodka pie and the tie dye. I think I’m a bigger fan of the tie dye over the vodka slice since i’ve had better tasting vodka sauce. We also go the risotto rice ball? which were delicious! perfectly fried and great amount of cheesiness. I décor was super cozy and cute but those benches in the back were not comfortable at all. I felt really stiff during my meal. Do make reservations as it can be a bit crowded during«rush hour» If there wasn’t a wait, this place would be definitely worth it and prices aren’t too bad.

I’ve never eaten Italian food in Little Italy before. Some people may think that’s odd, but the whole area is full of dinosaurs that haven’t made quality food in years– it’s a tourist trap and no people from Italy even live in the zip code anymore. So I was looking at Unilocal for a quality place in the area and happened upon Rubirosa, a few blocks down from all the lights and showmanship of the center of Little Italy. The place is adorable! Great atmosphere, and a really large space that reaches deep into the building. The narrow front room houses the bar and hightop tables, the middle room is a little wider and has the kitchen you can peek into, and the last room appeared to be the largest. It’s cozy and intimate, with the front of the house charmingly dim. Admittedly, this place is known for pizza and we ordered other things, so I’d be eager to come back and try what they’re known for. We split the fried calamari and the Caesar salad. The salad was delicious with lots of grated cheese, the dressing had a mild anchovy flavor, barely detectable. Fried calamari was solid. The boy ordered the lasagna, which neither of us were thrilled with. The ingredients were all quality but the sauce was very bland, and it didn’t seem like they seasoned it or the cheese. I ordered the spinach campanelle with mushrooms in a cream sauce. This was better, but I don’t think I’d order it again. Our neighbors at the next table ordered the pizza and it looked and smelled amaaaazing, so I do think that’s your best bet here.

A former neighborhood spot of mine that I wasn’t able to actually experience til a couple of days before I moved out the area because every time I tried to dine there I was met with at least an hour and a half wait, no matter what day of the week. When I finally was able to be seated right away, I was surprised to see that the restaurant went back much further than I thought and actually has a decent number of tables. We were seated in the back room, which would have been totally fine except that it was boiling hot. Definitely wouldn’t want to return here on a hot summer day! The service was nice enough though the server kept forgetting our requests… I think I sat in front of my food without a fork for almost 10 minutes. There’s a pet peeve I have, which is when a server knows you’re trying to get his attention yet walks quickly by you without acknowledging that you have a request. A simple ‘I’ll be right with you’ does wonders in my book. This happened to me and was quite honestly the main thing that took my overall review down to 3 stars. The food — delicious. By now there’s a plethora of high quality Neapolitan/brick oven style pizza so I can’t say it wasn’t anything I hadn’t had before at places like Motorino or Emily, but there’s no getting sick of really good pizza, right? A smaller size(more than enough for 2 people) of their classic tomato and mozzarella option is $ 18 and the larger size is $ 25. Not cheap, not exorbitant. What I would love to try next time is some of their pasta, but I’m married to a pizza addict and it’s hard to go to a place like this and order anything besides the pizza.

When we travel to different cities we normally don’t hit the same spot twice, more less 3 times, which is what we did with Rubirosa. This place definitely warranted a 3rd time just on the pizza alone. I want to say that this place makes the best pizza I have ever eaten. We’ll start with that it has one of the thinnest, crispiest crusts I have ever crunched on. It’s perfectly cooked where if you hold it flat and it won’t sag for the most part. My wife isn’t a pizza person because she always gets heartburn from the sauce, but not this sauce. It is light, tasty and not heavy at all. All the ingredients are fresh and well put together. (Note, on our first visit we only had an appetizer, because we went after 5 and missed a dish that is only served before 5) Our waitress on our second visit recommended that we get a half Rubirosa Supreme and Fresca because we also wanted to try the Spaghetti Carbonara, which is what we went with on our 3rd visit but added the Spaghetti alla Chitarra. I will tell you this, the pasta dishes here are just as good as the pizza. The meatballs in the Spaghetti alla Chitarra were some of the best meatballs I have ever tasted. The Spaghetti Carbonara with the egg on top was very good and tasty and again, all of this food was light considering it was Italian food. I will ALWAYS pay this place a visit every time I am New York City. This place is cool because it is actually off of the beaten path from the rest of The Little Italy area but it gets so packed you will definitely have to make reservations unless you want to wait for your table. Give them a try if you are in The Little Italy area.

We wanted to grab brunch and made the amateur mistake of not getting a reservation. Given that we were in Nolita, we were mostly out of luck as the brunch places were overflowing and had a wait time of 1 – 2 hours. Kudos to Rubirosa for being open and available! There was plenty of bar seating. We ordered a spaghetti and the Supreme. Both were good. The pizza was very thin but had the works: pepperoni, tomato, mozzarella, meatballs, etc. Good pizza but nothing on Juliana’s. Overall, pretty good experience. Would maybe come back if I’m in the neighborhood.

Extremely cozy restaurant on Mulberry street downtown. I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience here along with the food. The food is delicious and I cannot stop saying how much I loved the classic pizza! I highly recommend ordering a pizza pie. I came here for a late lunch and will definitely come back. Nothing like a nice glass of wine to accompany a delicious meal!

The food and drinks at Rubirosa is absolutely dynamite! Every drink and dish we ordered truly hit the spot. *Appetizer* Grandma’s Braciole — Braised beef with garlic bread and tomato. I heard the term braciole a dozen times from watching The Sopranos and other Italian mob flicks, I just never knew what it was until coming to Rubirosa. The braised beef was juicy and succulent. It tasted like a combination of a sausage and a meatball and the garlic bread topped with their tomato sauce was just the icing on the cake. Everything went so well together that we had to order a second one when our pizzas came. Calamari Fritti — Deep fried goodness. Crispy and fresh. The calamari did not taste rubbery at all. Squeeze a bit of lemon juice on top and you have yourself a heck of an appetizer to start off your night. Black & White Tagliatelle — Simply black and white pasta topped with clams, mussels, shrimps, scallops, and calamari. There was loads of seafood, the pasta tasted good but the entire dish was tad bit on the saltier side perhaps because of all of the seafood. *PIZZA* Rubirosa Supreme — I’ve been eating a fair amount of pizza from different places lately and I now crown Rubirosa Supreme as my new favorite pizza. The flavors of this pizza was just outstanding. Every bite was just a burst of goodness in your mouth. The brick oven style pizza had tomatoes, mozzarella, pepperoni, mini meatballs, and roasted garlic. Caprese — This pie was good too. I didn’t know what kind of cheese it had but I saw the word«Pesto» that was also on it, so I had to give it a shot. It had homemade stracciatella cheese, pesto, and tomato. If you’re a fan of the pesto slice in Dani’s House of Pizza in Kew Gardens, Queens, I think you’ll enjoy this pie. *Cocktails* The Primer — Bourbon, Dimmi, Dolin Rouge chilli & coffee infused Campari. If you like bourbon based drinks, well this is it. It’s a great sipping cocktail with quality ingredients. I couldn’t have been more pleased with this choice. Verdict — Be sure to make an reservation way ahead of time. This place was jammed packed. The food and service was superb and I would highly recommend this restaurant to all of my friends. It has a cozy atmosphere. It’s a great place for a date or with friends. Real top notch spot!

Great service, good atmosphere, and lovely pizza. I like my pizza with lots of tomato sauce and Rubirosa does not disappoint. We had a table of four by the window overlooking the street. We shared an arugula, parmesan, and prosciutto pizza. Our friends ordered a margarita pizza that was also amazing. The calamari was delicious and a good way to lift of the tarmac. The crust was cooked perfectly and the pizzas were huge. This is a great pizza shop in a wonderful part of Nolita.

Oh how long have we waited to come to Rubirosa. For months we were trying to get reservations here and how surprised were we to come by around 9:30 pm on a Thursday and were sitted immediately. Try to come around that time in the middle of the week even if they say there is no reservations! We ordered the burrata as an app, honestly it was good but you can pass on it and go directly to the crown jewel, the tie dye pizza. Because it was our first time we ordered half dye half vodka large pizza. It’s was sensational. For sure its the best pizza we ever had! Best in class highly recommended pizza. You can’t go wrong!

Absolutely hands down one of the best pizza spots in New York City! I first heard about this place from Elvis Duran on the morning show. I came about 4 years back and can’t believe I waited so long to return. The restaurant is nestled in the Nolita area. Classic small Italian cozy spot. I highly Recommend reservations. Every time I try to call they are always booked. If you go late night you may be able to walk in and wait at the bar for a table. Keep in mind the place is tight. Let’s get to the food. Meatballs or the rice balls are great options for the apps. I tried the burruta cheese app with butternut squash. Honestly, it was underwhelming compared to everything else I ate and saw. They have other options than pizza, but you MUST order the pizza! You must! They have a variety of choices. I prefer the vodka sauce pizza or the tie dye pizza which is vodka, marinara, and pesto. You can get ½ and ½ of any pizza so you can try. The large pizza is big has 8 slices. The pizza is literally cooked to perfection. Crispy bottom not soggy and perfect amount of cheese and sauce. You can probably eat 4 slices and not feel bloated or gross like that cheap pizza. Servers are all super chill and nice. The vibe is laid back with good music in the background. You feel like you step into a mini world outside of the chaos of New York. Highly recommend for date night, tourists, or get together.

If you’re planning on coming to Rubirosa, be prepared for a wait. The bad thing is that you’ll probably wait about an hour. The good thing is that they’ll take your name down, and call you when your table is ready. The restaurant is very narrow. So between tables, the bar, and waiters trying to serve customers, there really isn’t much room so it is pretty cramped. But if you’re willing to look past that, the food is pretty good. I don’t know if it’s worth waiting an hour again for, but I don’t have any regrets about the first time. To start, we had the the meatballs and the mini rice balls. The meatballs were alright, nothing special — nothing you can’t make yourself at home. The rice balls were great but I wish there was more prosciutto in there. I could barely taste it. For pizza, we went with Rubirosa supreme(small), which had tomato, mozzarella, pepperoni, meatballs, and roasted garlic. Overall, it was a solid pie but I wish I tasted more meatball on there. Seems like Rubirosa is pretty skimpy in the meats department! The small was pretty big. It was more than enough for two people, especially with appetizers. It’s pretty pricey for a pizza so it’s probably not the pizzeria you’d want to pick up your weekly too-lazy-to-cook pizza pie from. Like I said, I’m not sure I would come back if I had to wait that long again. But if I happen to stroll by and there’s no wait, then sure — why not!

Rubirosa NY Manhattan Nolita 4:25pm Thursday 5th November 2015 Five Stars They have pizza hour between 4−5pm which means you can get a slice of four different pies: Classic, Fresca, Vodka, and Supreme. I sat at the bar and ordered the Vodka($ 3.5) and Supreme($ 4). The slices were delicious. They gave me a knife and fork but the slices were firm enough to hold, fold, and eat. The Crust was thin, crispy, with a hint of char. The vodka pie was simple. It had creamy vodka tomato sauce with fresh slices of Mozzarella. The Supreme had fresh sweet tomato sauce with mini sausage, pepperoni, roasted garlic, and ribbons of basil. Both slices were so good I wanted to order the other ones. Next Time!

This is a cute sit down pizza place with reasonably priced«fancier» pizza. Calamari: The calamari is very average. Nothing special, but nothing great, either. The batter is crispy. It doesn’t have much flavor so it definitely needs a lot of marinara sauce. Pizza: I’ve tried the Robirosa Supreme, Vodka, Margarita and Tie-Dye pies here. I’ve come to the conclusion that I really like the flavor of the pizza: the sauce is great, the toppings are full of flavor(especially the roasted garlic) BUT, the crust is so soggy! I love thin pizza(which this is), but as I’m lifting the pizza up, all my toppings and cheese are sliding off. I wish this pizza was just crispier on the bottom… :(

Forget Lombardi, just get this instead. I would if I ever go back here! So that day, Lombardi was on our lunch menu but because change of plans, we came here instead. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to dine in and just grabbed a slice to go. They also sell it by slice up to 5P. M only. Someone tricked me and said their slice is big but I was so hungry, it wasn’t enough. Maybe 3 slices will cure the hunger at that time. STUFF I LOVE: |Rubirosa Supreme| I sure have great choice in food. If not for other places, this one I did! NY style is thin and that’s what this place is all about! So I don’t get why people like Lombardi? It’s NOT thin! But anyway, the crispiness got to me. The whole slice was so crunchy and delicious! The toppings were great also. I especially love the pepperoni in New York! It’s mini size and so crispy. The sauce wasn’t thick either where it would fall off when you bend the pizza. KNOWNFOR: |Vodka Pizza| Apparently this is all over on Unilocal when you first scan through it. I’m not big on alcohol so I don’t know how it would taste. Hence I didn’t get it.
