My girlfriend and I being raised in Japan, have found some comfort and home to this park when we visited, we remembered the beautiful scents and visuals the cherry blossom trees gave off as well as the quiet, peaceful nature to it’s tone, many Japanese venture out to this park, but when I speak of many, I’m actually speaking in terms of encountering an actual Japanese person and not another Asian nationality. I want to state some key points to the park and ensure the best experience. Best features: * You can have a picnic(I call them EAT-OUTS) or just lay down and relax * The park is fairly quiet in terms of outside noise * The scenery is fantastic, you get a view of the Marina, General Grant Memorial and Riverside church * Some Japanese History and texts * Park is always clean, and scent of it is pure especially when Cherry Blossom Season comes * Family Friendly * Safe I wanted to point out some bad points, but there really aren’t any to begin with. So I highly recommend heading to Sakura Park on your free time.

Small park across the Grant’s Tomb. This park is quiet & clean. Great place to read a book or have a picnic. There are few cherry blossom trees inside this park.

Small park. Very quite and clean. Every morning people clean it. During the winter time, there is salt on the ground. Garbages are never full and I didn’t see homeless. Close to riverside park. Grab a lunch and enjoy the view.

A lovely stretch of flat grass in an otherwise hilly neighborhood. It’s pretty unbeatable in the springtime when the eponymous trees bloom. Plus, there’s usually room on the swings if there’s a small person with you.

Nice little park across from Grant’s Tomb. It has great views of Riverside Church and the Tomb. It also has some wonderful cherry blossoms. Great place to kick back for a nice day out.

We attended a performance at Riverside Church today and it was a good opportunity to also visit this park. It’s not very large, but it’s quite pleasant and peaceful.

Their cherry trees were a gift from Japan in 1912. The rest of the gifted trees line the shores of the Potomac. in DC. This is a park with quite a few dogs on leashes and friendly owners. Also the children’s mini playground looked as though all the parents knew each other and were socializing.

A nice place to catch some shade after your stroll/jog. There’s cool history bordering it with Grants Tomb on one side of the street, Riverside Church on another, and a huge wall keeping it from spilling onto Claremont Ave on yet another. If you come at the right time there are a few Cherry Trees here that want to be seen. You can enjoy them and the ishi toro(Japanese stone lantern) while relaxing in the gazebo. Or if you’re brave enough, chill on the grass!
