Shunfa Relaxing Center III

Very nice place for retreat. Unlike the normal massage spas always located beside the noisy streets, this spa on the contrary in the second floor (but very colorful and convenient area of manhanttan), very peaceful, neat and silent. Good decoration is plus.

This place is amazing.
the Price is comparatively fantastic and more importantly the quality of the massage is really high.
If you need a strong massage, ask for YOYO — she is extremely skilled.

Shun Fa lll is Heaven sent!!! So wonderful, that I go there, every monday, for a two hour, full body, massage. To loosen up my body for the up coming work week. Wendy gives a great massage and hot stone treatment. My body and mind are so very relaxed, when my massage is finished. I hate to hear the alarm sound, letting me know that my time is up. The Center is clean and quiet. All of the staff that I have met, have been very nice and polite. $ 39 a hr, for such great treatment. Its a no brainer! You must come to Shun Fa lll and experience pure bliss.

Love! Recommended to me by a friend and probably the best deepest massage I have gotten. It’s on the 2^nd floor and it’s super small and dimly lit with a few different rooms. I got a full body massage for $ 39 (plus tip) but the guy told me my shoulders were so bad he felt like he needed to work on them more. Which he is so right and no masseuse has done that for me yet. Max is so great! I am totally coming back!

Where to start??? Until last night I would have joked that there’s no such thing as a bad Chinese massage, but now I know there is – and that’s no joke. Ugh, between the screaming baby, the tired female massage therapist, and the uncomfortable face cradle, it was a flaming bag of poo swaddled in cotton from start to finish. I really hate to say this, but I actually felt kind of creeped out to boot.
I literally lay there hoping the therapist in the next room would take over when he got finished, but no such luck. Go google ‘Amy Schumer gets a massage’ and you’ll get a foretaste of this glory divine. So. weird.
It’s nice that others have had such great experiences. Just be aware that the quality at Shunfa III is, uh, spotty to say the least. On the bright side, it’s clean and the massage rooms have walls rather than just curtains dividing them. There’s that at least. But I’ll take super tiny curtain-​divided massage spaces over this place any day.

I feel so much better after getting 45 mins of foot massage here. And the price is so good!

Great massage and very good service! I had a massage from Jery and he did a great job. I often find Chinese-​style (is there a better word for them?) massages very intense but they were very good here about listening to when you wanted a harder vs softer massage. It’s very affordable and it was quite hygienic. Also the proprietor/​manager has an incredibly cute baby!!! What’s not to love?

Best bang for the buck massage in all of manhattan. Nothing over the top spa facility like but clean, quiet and extremely good hands. Had the masseuse walk on my back today for 30 mins to ease up all the tension i had in my back. Great price, great service and happy faces. A gem.

What a find! I got a great massage and didn’t break the bank. I am at a computer all day, and my therapist, Casey, got out more knots than I thought was possible. She was awesome. The place seemed busy on a Sunday afternoon, so calling ahead is good. It’s not fancy, and your therapist may need to answer the phone while in your massage, so be warned. If you want an upscale spa, this is not the place. If you want a good massage for not much money, go here.

This place is great. I am not one for fancy spas, unless it’s a full day dedicated to that. When your day is composed by crowded trains, busy meetings, a trip to the bodega, more meetings, and aspirations to be home by 8pm, there’s little time left for a mid-​week spa massage. I came to Shunfa with hopes of getting some tension knots out of my body, and wow! It was exactly what I was hoping for. Casey was so sweet when I got there. The other masseuse was finishing up with a client, so I waited for 10 minutes or so, but she kept checking on me to make sure I was ok. My masseuse was Amanda, and she was INCREDIBLE! I will be coming here more often to get that mid-​week fix! (Note: This is a no-​frills location. It’s a floor above and over from a Karaōke spot, so in addition to the tranquil music they play, you may get some extra bass during your time. Also, Casey’s son — so cute! — may be there and he’s a lively little one-​year old. It’s not too distracting, but be prepared that you may hear him, too!) Thank you, Shunfa! I’ll see you, soon!

Everything seemed pretty clean and the girl who massaged me was polite and amazing. She definitely knew what she was doing and it was cheap. No complaints here

I just left ShunFa III Relaxation center after a blissful 1 hour foot massage and the name truly lives up to itself! My little toes feel so happy and relaxed!!! Wendy did an amazing job and although doesn’t speak much English, talk was unnecessary! They have these oversized black recliners and you just sink into them and drift off into your little moment of zen. prices are great. Place is no frills but very clean. Will definitely be making this a regular occurrence. Do yourself and go now!

I am really conflicted about reviewing this place because I don’t want them to get too busy so I don’t get to talk in! But they are so sweet and now this has become my favourite hang out place after my Jivamukti yoga practice round the corner (also amazing, btw), I feel a moral obligation to the fellow Unilocalers and have to come clean on this. As a massage veteran (I usually get a massage a week in different cities, from London, HK to NYC):
Pros:
1. One of the cleanest Chinese massage places in Manhattan (just don’t compare that to a five star hotel spa — it is really neat and clean for this price range but you gotta have perspective on this). Cleanliness is very important to me. Also they have really big and sturdy massage tables. Brand new!
2. Their staff are well trained. At some tuina places the masseurs can exert too much force on the wrong spots. Not at this place. I have tried two masseurs and they all know where my sore knots are and are very patient in easing into them. They know how to build it up and bring it down. With one guy I had to ask him to be stronger, but the pressure was perfect immediately and through out the session.
3. Hot stones. HOT stones. Omg you have no idea how nice it is that they will bring some hot stones towards the end of your back massage and rub them around your neck and back. It’s so good and it rubs my frustration and stress away. Most parlours that do hot stones massage add a 20% on top of their fees, but at this place the massage comes with it (omg again).
4. Price. Less then $ 40 per hour (wtf) plus tips on top. I always tip them generously because the NYTimes story on manicure spa inequality in NYC freaked me out. I hope they make enough from our tips. Seriously. I haven’t found a place with this level of service and setup with this price range.
5. You will be in pain. The masseurs are like knots and pain hounds. They sniff out where your problems are and will have a go at it. You will be in pain. You will Unilocal (sorry for the pun). But you will come out as a better and stronger person at the end of it. And yes, if you are a bit of a whim, they do ease off for you (did I just admit I am a whim).
Cons
1. It is not a fancy place. You don’t get the deluxe feel of being in a spa. But you get a good knead. For me, that’s enough. If you want a bliss princess experience with a dermatologica facial to top it up, go somewhere else.
2. Their English: They speak conversational English so if you want something super complicated, you should bring google translate with you. But they are helpful and eager to understand your need, and 80% of what you need should be able to express through body language anyway.
3. Karaōke nights: very occasionally, you can hear the singing of customers of the next door restaurant. While I was in a heavenly massage last weekend I heard them singing ‘because I got high, because I got high, because I got haaaaa-​igh…’. It doesn’t bother me because I wanted a good massage and I thought it was hilarious. But I can see that being a con to the massage purists out there.
Also to add, the owner’s baby son sometimes hangs out there. He is super cute and never cries. In fact, most of the time when he’s there I didn’t even know he was until I left the place. Seriously he’s so cute he can make your broody. Just watch out of that. I’ll try to take a photo on my next trip.
In a nutshell: great service, extremely good value for money. The HOT stones. A solid five stars.

Excellent hour of Tui-​na and reflexology for a very low price. The environment is clean and comfy and the staff were nice. I went in and got a massage without an appointment and with no wait. Keep in mind, I am a bit of a massage lover and the service I received really was excellent, and way above average.
The massage therapist who provided my massage is extremely gifted. I tipped (as I always try to do) based on the market rate for the service, which would be at least $ 100. So though my massage was only $ 40, the tip for an excellent massage was $ 20. I encourage other patrons to be considerate.
Tui-​na is a real gift! I am so glad to have so many places near where I work and live that provide such high quality service.

I had a back massage and I was so satisfied with the Chinese lady who attended to me. She even used hot stones, relaxing. My husband had a foot massage and he was very satisfied too. They have clean toilet too. The place is quite small but OK, didn’t wait that long.

I go tanning in the place next door so decided to stop here and try the place and loved it! Very clean, didn’t have to wait… Amazing deep massage with hot stones, never been that satisfied!
