Simon’s Hardware & Bath

Somehow in the process of negotiating with our contractor it became our responsibility to buy all the door hardware. I found the showroom to be a bit overwhelming, but sales person listened to my wants and needs and narrowed things down nicely. I was very satisfied with my experience. When there was a hiccup in the order said salesperson was not as helpful, however, management stepped in and made the whole thing right. In the end, I received the service I would expect from a company like this. Yes, I could have gotten the same product online but not the personalized attention not someone standing behind the order.

I had a great experience at Simon’s today. I’m finishing a renovation and needed a few more hinges, door stops and door pulls asap. My internet order had come in completely wrong (common experience with my online purchases for this reno). Ray was extremely helpful in finding in Stock items that matched my colors and material in record time. I regret that I didn’t purchase more of my hardware from a local retailer because I’ve had so many problems with items ordered online (privacy doorknobs not working, screws missing, wrong finish color, etc). Their new showroom is gorgeous and the displays are so helpful. I wish I had known about this place because it would have saved me a lot of headaches. Their prices were marginally higher than purchasing online (for Baldwin, emtek, etc) but the service made it totally worth it.

Great selection. BUT, BUT, BUT. We were gutting and renovating an apartment to move into from our city outside of Manhattan. We needed to buy locks for sliding doors in the new place. We came with exact measurements for installation. We were guided to locks we were assured would fit. Came the last week before we had to move an entire 30-​year household to Manhattan, we wanted to be able to store some valuables in one of the rooms, fully expecting that the locks would be installed in the apartment. We have a fully licensed and experienced contractor and work people. They found that the locks did not fit. Of all the aggravations to encounter days before our move in, this was a doozy, since we had very valuable things that my husband drove 4 hours from our home city to Manhattan. We found we had to store them with a relative in the building instead of in our own place. I was boiling mad, and as I write this review, still am. CAVEAT EMPTOR! Be absolutely, 300 percent certain of the stuff you get from these people — I will add that to add insult to injury they were rude to our contractor when he called about this crucial problem.

Great selection. More expensive than internet prices but worth it if you want a knowledgable sales person to help with your selections. I purchased two vanities, shower trim, medicine cabinets, mirrors, and shower glass doors. Yes, the sales people are busy and can be hard to reach but for me, I still preferred working with one dedicated salesperson rather than a general 1 – 800 phone number. One of our sinks arrived broken and the delivery guy took it back with him. After a frustrating few weeks my issue was finally escalated and Jamie, the store manager, was extremely helpful and made sure my money was immediately refunded.

Over all, very challenging & time consuming to shop here. The selection is nice but then when it comes to finding the price and ordering it requires a lot of patience.
I feel that if I need help or have a question I am annoying the sales person. I received dismissive answers like «I don’t know,» «not sure where that it is,» «we don’t have that one» (then I found it a minute later).

Great selection of door and cabinet hardware. Salesman was very helpful with items and obtaining information from supplier. Bought cabinet hardware there last month and door hardware and toilet paper holder a year ago. Store items are not cheap though, but so far seem to be good quality.

Why would anyone give this business their money?
Most unprofessional service, rushing me though there was NO ONE else in the store!
Taking private calls in front of my face.
Would have easily dropped a few hundred bucks here today, will never come back.

Going to order everything online. And people wonder why brick and mortar goes out of business. ..

I went to Simon’s bright and early to purchase cabinet hardware– plans were in hand, ideas were in mind, checkbook was ready.
I was directed to Daniel who was on the telephone (clearly with a friend), chatting about his seasonal allergies and waited a good fifteen minutes as he went on and on, ignoring me. He eventually told me to look around (he seemed annoyed!) and see what I liked – then said he was going out for breakfast and would be back soon.
So I walked a few blocks to Hafele on 26 St. Their selection is even better, the sales people are pleasant and helpful and I’ll never return to Simon’s again.

After searching on line and in quite a few stores for ‘bathroom accessories’ for my bathroom renovation (towel bars, hooks, etc) a neighbor told me about Simon’s. Excellent selection and Jenna was a huge help in assisting me in making decisions. The few items that were not in stock were special ordered and arrived quickly. Great store!

Simon’s has an excellent selection of bath and hardware products. I went in to find furniture feet for a piece I purchased with ugly feet that I wanted to replace. I worked with Jose who was extremely helpful in suggesting products and aiding me in figuring out whether the products would really work with my furniture piece. I think Simon’s really deserves five stars after watching how they handled the process when my order came in incorrectly. I was sent round feet instead of square feet. I called around 8 PM, after they had closed, and left a message reporting the mistake. I received a call back early the next morning with an apology for the mistake and a promise to order me the right product with expedited shipping. The whole matter was sorted by noon that day.
Things go wrong and the mark of a good service business is handling them in the right way. Jose and the team at Simon’s did a great job and they will certainly be getting my business in the future.

An incredible selection of mortise locks and hardware, Simon’s is the kind of place that make me wish I could buy a dozen fixer-​uppers. The employees were efficient and courteous, something I appreciate after having visited too many big-​box hardware stores.

The employees need an etiquette class. I didn’t even get a hello. Weren’t busy at all. Rude obnoxious and pretty immature I’d say. As I walked away I over heard the lady sitting in the middle of the bath showroom bad mouthing a client. They just lost a good 60, 000 + sale. I don’t think they understand the concept of white glove customer service. Shame on you.

I’d recommend Simon’s for buying appliances and fixtures. They have good prices, they’re very helpful and knowledgeable, and hold your stuff without charge until your contractor is ready. The only downside is they use ConstantContact for their marketing emails — you have to retype your email address to get out of them and even then the server is sometimes down so it doesn’t work.

I stopped in here today to try and get a small custom piece of stone cut/​ordered for our bar in our home. It wasn’t something they typically do, but Bella was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to help me. She helped me try to match the exact stone one of her vendor’s sites, then contacted them directly to see if they had any remnants stone pieces available and put me in touch directly with one of her vendors nearby in Manhattan. Thanks again for all of your help Bella! I would recommend Simon’s Hardware & Bath to anyone looking for custom hardware & bath.

I looked all over town for cabinet door knobs before I finally found them here! Phil at the service counter was very helpful and the price was fair for a high quality product. This place is definitely worth checking out for kitchen & bathroom hardware and accessories.

I agree with many of the other reviews – the service here is abysmal. The guys sit there pretending to be doing something on their computers and don’t even acknowledge your presence. No «Can I help you?» or «I’ll be with you in a minute»…NOTHING. I stood right next to one of these guys for about 5 minutes and he didn’t even have the decency to acknowledge me or ask if I needed help. It was obvious that I was waiting for someone to help me. How can this store stay in business? Hands-​down some of the worst customer service I’ve experienced in a very long time. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

Went to Simons to order a grill for a built in that covers my air/radiator…they wanted to charge me $ 750 per grill with a lead time of 4 – 6 weeks! I went home, got online and found the same exact grill for $ 125 and got it delivered in 3 days direct to my door. Simon’s is overpriced and are really taking advantage of people.

I’ve spent a lot of money at this store and will go back. It’s the place to go for bath fixtures and any kind of door hardware. It’s not cheap but it’s worth it. The bath department staff is friendly and helpful when they aren’t overwhelmed but the hinge/​pull department could use some attitude training. Their deliveries are a nightmare, which is why I’m only giving them 3 stars. It will never arrive on-​time and it will be the wrong thing when it does.

The employees are rude, unhelpful and lack knowledge.
One star because they have nice selection. Overpriced. Go there to get ideas and then buy it online. It will be cheaper and a better experience.
