We were staying in the Waldorf Astoria and found this a good place to start and end our evenings. It is right off the lobby, but unlike Peacock Alley is separated from the lobby. It has the ambiance of a club. It is dimly lit with lots of dark leather and dark wood. The front has small tables with club chairs. There is a sofa with a small coffee table in the middle across from the bar and small restaurant style tables at the back. You will probably want one of the restaurant style tables if you are ordering food. They have a great selection of scotch and bourbon. They also make a good Old Fashioned.

Came here for a quick drink before an event and I would expect nothing less from an establishment in the Waldorf Astoria. It’s a classic gentleman’s bar with beautiful wooden panels and lovely, luxurious furniture. The dim lighting makes it feel intimate and even though it’s right off the main hall of the hotel, it’s not noisy. This is actually where the Rob Roy cocktail was invented. I ordered it and it’s like I was sipping on perfection.

We asked for two dirty martinis, bartender made one at a time which added to the wait. They were overpriced & unpalatable. The atmosphere was very inviting though, maybe grabbing a beer or wine would have lead to a more enjoyable experience.

This is a great place to relax and grab after dinner drinks. Try to get a sofa or table in the front, the back is kind of crowded. I like this place and will definitely come back. One minus is the waitress that I keep getting; it’s an older, blonde lady. Its impossible to get her attention she comes when she wants :) other staff members are great. But the blonde, older lady is good when you need to get rid of someone who is bothering you. She is very clear and to the point just.

The bar itself is a New York experience. The only terrible part was the bartender named Tom. He was rude and refused to even acknowledge my presence. After realizing he was simply not going to serve me, I went over to speak with a friend who ordered a drink for me. A short while later, when I was about to leave, Tom accused me of trying to leave without paying, which is ridiculous! I had my card in my hand, about to give it to him. He must realize that he does work in a bar, where people drink and therefore can be a little slow in their movements, right? Still no reason for him to be so inexcusably judgmental. I have to wonder if he is racist. Later, I found my bill was three times what it should have been. I think Tom charged three extra drinks to my tab for some reason known only to him. I had to call the hotel about it. They handled it, thank you. All of the other staff were wonderful.

This is by the best bar in NYC. The service here is amazing, we had a waiter named Pedro and he was so attentive and polite. Had a nice conversation with him. Next time me and my husband come and visit NYC we will definitely come here. Additionally The bloody Mary’s were phenomenal and the ambience is just perfect for a night out with your significant other. I would recommend coming here you won’t regret it.

RICOSUAVEHASNOTHINGONSONNY! Best bartender in Manhattan. Always greets you by name and with a smile, even if it’s been a long time between visits as it was for me. Has been with the hotel for 34 years so knows every drink(and more than a few stories!) by heart. Great ambiance and one of the reasons I stay at the Waldorf every time I visit, including this past New Year’s Eve. The bar itself is warm and welcoming, with a truly international clientele; I’ve met some of the most amazing people there and have made new friends. Sonny, I’ll be back in March so get my martini ready!

Always an enjoyable stop for a respite when shopping on 5th. The venerable Harry’s, located inside the historic Waldorf-Astoria, is a quiet den providing a haven from the hustle of Manhattan. The décor is inviting and comforting while the lighting is warm and relaxing. Pull up to the antique bar or grab a club chair at one of the small tables. The staff is attentive and professional and the drinks are always skillfully prepared. Prices are obviously high but you are paying for ambiance and the chance to sip a cocktail in one of the greatest boutique hotels on the planet.

We had a drink in here during a recent stay at the Waldorf Astoria– and we weren’t disappointed! There is a real feel of luxury to the place and a relaxed atmosphere. There was a conference on while we were there, and the bar was really busy with delegates so the only table we could find was right at the back. When the waitress came to take our order she insisted that we were too lovely to hide away at the back of the bar and we should move to a better table– she then promptly set about finding us one! Installed at our new, improved table we turned our attention to the drinks menu. They have a great selection of cocktails, as well as some lovely wines available by the glass. Our order arrived promptly and with a bowl of nibbles which was nice. My cocktail was delicious! I would recommended this bar for anyone staying at the Waldorf Astoria. I just wish I’d asked our waitress’s name so I could mention her in person as she was fabulous!

I prefer this bar to the other in the Waldorf — it’s closed off from the main lobby foot traffic unlike the other, comfortable chairs, good drinks. Mixed age crowd, leaning slightly older.

Overly priced drinks that are not that well made. Great service and comfy but I wish they didn’t have bright tvs, it gives it a sports bar feel. Also, if you are charging $ 20 for a Manhattan, at least use a real maraschino cherry instead of a bright red candied one.

I am no expert at hotel bars(and I don’t mean the soap which I know of very well!) but I can bet this one probably kicks all other hotel bars’ asses! If you are a Mad Men fan and always wondered how it feels to drink at noon at a hotel bar… or at any other time… well, this is the place to be! The drinks are really strong and pricey but I really go for the free nuts :) On a serious note… service is great(and why wouldn’t it be for the price you are paying for those drinks)! Ambiance is very mellow and classy… and by that I mean expensive décor with dim lighting. Drinks are around $ 21 each… The End.

Through lenses of rationality this place is great. Prime location, dark and warm ambiance, very serious and professional service, full stocked bar, lots of people– seems like a picture perfect, but its not and I will tell you why. Crowd– very rich and conservative business folks between age of 35 – 65 in tailored suits and expensive watch that will cost me my yearly rent and overly curious middle aged tourist couples who want to just feel the shine of gold that is radiating from those business men. So its not fun, young, hip, casual, attractive, elegant, sexy, trendy, welcoming, warm, approachable, awesome, silly, flirtatious, sweet adorable… I could continue but I think we all got the point here. Drinks– full bar but as you’ve guessed it, is not too imaginative. well, the«boys» in suits drink scotch or bourbon so bar has all shades and colors of those. Overall, its a perfect place to discuss some serious business without many annoying distractions like pack of young attractive females or young and overly excited guys.

Like the bar in the Shining where Jack Nicholson hallucinates drinking all the elixirs, Sir Harry’s feels like a throwback old-boy’s club… and it is. It’s dark and smokey feeling(without the actual smoke), and you can settle into the many leather chairs while you sip your scotch. It fits in perfectly with the hotel’s grand allure. Perfect spot to feel like you’re in The Great Gatsby or something.

I’m not a tourist, I was born and raised in NY. Sir Harry’s ain’t my deal. However, BF was staying at the Waldorf and after a night of fun, we were still interested in drinking a bit more. Seeing how we still had the Waldorf 2 complimentary drink tickets in tow, we walked over to Sir Harry’s to polish em’ off. My experience was alright… Afterall, Sir Harry’s caters more towards tourists and patrons of the Waldorf, whereas I’m a native New Yorker. I’m not really interested in an old-school mastered cocktail while striking up a conversation with another out-of-towner. I’m not sure if the patrons of Sir Harry’s even have any desire to leave the comforts of the hotel area and check out anywhere else in New York for a stiff drink. I am unsurprised by the other reviewer’s descriptions of the other Sir Harry’s guests… I saw a lot of kinda… strange and weird hook-ups… that were a little on the gross side… If you’re looking for a cougar, this is the place for you. If you’re looking for an out of towner, this is the place for you. If you’re looking for a New York experience, go someplace else.

Great old school bar with lots of dark oak. They have a house brand cava sparkling wine from Spain that knocked my socks off. Very warm attentive service. This will be my go to bar each time I stay at the Waldorf Astoria.

So I took a cab from Greenwich Village back to my hotel. I wanted one last drink before calling it a night as I was weary to let go of the New York nightlife. The bar inside the Radisson was closed(It was 12:30 in the morning, after all) so I stumbled back outside and walked the streets in search for a bar nearby that would allow me to call it a night. A block and a half later, I’m on Park Avenue in front of the Waldorf Astoria. Perfect, I thought, and I walked inside. I came across Sir Harry’s right off the main lobby. With its elegant wooden bar and checkerboard motif, the place seemed like the perfect way to end the evening in style. I sat down at the bar and ordered a Bushmills ice. The bartender was friendly and the drink was nice, but this place completely freaked me out and killed my buzz instantly. Did you see«The Sixth Sense» with Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment? Then you remember the line, «I see dead people.» At Sir Harry’s, it’s more like«I see rich people,» and these motherfuckers are scary. Maybe once you’ve reached the top, you just get bored. This isn’t the first time I’ve witnessed how depraved the wealthiest strata of our society can be, but seriously… can’t y’all keep your sick and twisted fantasies to yourselves so those of us that just want to drink do so in peace? I wasn’t eavesdropping, let me assure you. Like I give a shit… Here’s the conversation I overheard to a couple of seats down: She’s a woman that looks to be in her late 50s or early 60s, with gray curly hair and well dressed. I noticed pearls and a flash of gold. No diamonds that I can recall, but I think the purse next to her was Chanel. Give me a break… I’ve already had a lot to drink that night… He’s a man early to mid 50s, with his hair slicked back, with short squarish glasses atop his nose. He’s wearing a suit and tie. Woman: «So have you ever been in a threesome?». Man: «Errrr…» Woman: «Oh, come on… I’m 59 and I’ve seen it all and done it all. Let’s not play games, ok?» Man: «Errr… yes.» [timidly] Woman: «Was it you and two women or were you with another guy?» Man: [indistinguishable… Thank god at least this motherfucker was discreet] Woman: «I found that I prefer to have multiple partners. One guy just doesn’t do it for me. I’ve had 3 guys at a time.» Look bitch, if you’re gonna try and pick up a guy, keep the conversation to yourself, ok? I really don’t want to hear about your sexual exploits. You’re a rich old tramp with saggy tits. No of course I didn’t say that… I simply gulped down my drink and got the fuck out of there stat. I had a great night in Manhattan. I drank in Greenwich Village and no games were played… no negative vibes or attitude. I came here to the Waldorf Astoria and sick, dejected, putrid vibes emanated from all those around me. Ok so maybe I’m going too far, but everybody here seemed so jaded and oh so fucking miserable that they apparently have to resort to shit that would make the Marquis de Sade blush. Décor: beautiful wood and mahogany. Alcohol: top shelf, top prices. Ambiance: I see rich people.
