Eh, fits the clientele aspirations for the area, with solid Poilane bread but an overall stuffier than it should be experience.

We will try again. I am a hard grader. I had the grass fed burger. It was done well and moist and the bun stayed intact. My wife had the chicken salad«sandwich» while the children enjoyed the cheese ravioli(lots of cheese). Service was fine though the room(floor level«upstairs» by bar and kitchen) was a bit warm on a hot sunny day outside. Maybe we went when it just opened? Recommend a try.

Great food, good service, nice ambience. This place is super cute for a quiet night with someone you need to catch up(and you can actually hear)! There’s a bar section with some seating and then downstairs additional seating. I came with one other person and we ordered everything to share. Outside of everything coming all at once it was all delicious! I’d come back here again and would certainly recommend to others.

Cute spot. Came here for lunch and had the croque monsieur tartine. I liked it, although it wasn’t the best bechemel I’ve ever tasted. But I wouldn’t kick it out of bed. Service was spot on. I was between the tartine I chose and the burrata tartine. I kinda want to go back and eat that one too.

I went in this cute french bar/restaurant a couple time with friends. This place is really beautiful, clean, well designed and everybody is really friendly. I went there for afternoon drinks but i can’t wait to go back there for brunch or lunch. Anyway they have a good selection of wines, champagne and they also make fresh juices that is a big plus!

Asked the server to box up our order because we didn’t want to stay in the place any longer. It was cramped all, pretentious, loads of empty seating downstairs but it was closed off to keep us up there. Our glasses were dirty too as was the cutlery. When we got the food home, she forgot to give me my husbands food :-(I didn’t notice it at the restaurant in Nolita because the bag was stapled shut with a business card tag and I was too far away to go back. The food that i brought back was also not good for the price. The tuna fish was loaded with mayo and the French Onion soup was beyond salty. Sorry. The elderflower lemonaid was great, though, so there is your earned star. 55 dollars for a bad tuna sandwich and a couple of drinks. Seriously. Edit– replying to manager below… food was shit. We didnt ask to take the leftovers home, read the review. We left before we even tasted it as we were cramped in upstairs and hated the whole atmosphere. Also, I’m not being unreasonable, check out my other reviews. This is the first 1 star review I’ve ever given to a restaurant. There wasn’t a single good thing I can say about it.

I came here for my birthday dinner this past weekend and it was wonderful! We had a good portion of the lower level of the restaurant reserved and the atmosphere was very warm. Our servers were very attentive and friendly overall. We had a set menu of the following: Starters: Cheese and charcuterie board– delightful selection! Vermont Burrata– refreshing Smashed avocado toast Lentils and pomegranate Ravioles du Royans — very rich Cremini Mushroom & Truffle Toast Tartines: Creamy Burrata– Yummm The Perfect Chicken Salad– so good! Croque Monsieur– Everything you expect it to be Smoked Salmon — expectedly delicious Dessert: Cheesecake — my favorite of the desserts. very light and just the perfect level of sweet. Fondant Au Chocolat — Solid Nutella Tartine A lot of food I know. Overall, there wasn’t any dish that was bad and the portions were perfect. I also tried the strawberry saketini and it was amazing.

Came here for a date night with the hubby. It’s definitely a unique twist but I’m not itching to come back. Order from the menu: Any of the tartines, I mean its what you came here for right? Food: The food her is made to share as its tapas style. The tartines, an open faced french sandwich, are actually pretty large. Sharing 1 between two people and a few other dishes are worthwhile. If you have never had a tartine before, start with a croque madame or monsieur. It’s the classic french twist. Two appetizers and one tartine is enough for 2 people to eat and not feel like pigs. Their wine menu is pretty good. Service: While our waiter was nice, it was impossible to get his attention or anyone else for anything. It took us a while to order food and once we got it, a really long time to pay. They nicely put down our food and walked away. I guess I don’t expect too much but maybe check in with us that all is OK or clear away some plates as the large plates cannot fit on the tiny tiny tables. Price: It was reasonable for what you get and the ingredients used. For NYC, pretty fair. Décor: The restaurant is cramped but really cool vibe with the loft and chalkboard walls. Definitely impressive. Special Notables: Nothing here had me screaming OMG need to come back. While the food was good, it’s not unique enough that its the only place I can get a tartine. I still feel like its worth it for a 1st date as the décor alone is enough to talk about, but hope that you do not get loud neighbors because it is cramped.

I’m a fan. The food was good and relatively healthy which is what i was looking for that day. I had a tartine to share the burrata which was good and fresh and had the salmon papillote as my entrée. The dessert chocolate fondant cake was not that good. A plus is that invader was there, wouldn’t know if its a legitimate one though

Came in with a gilt credit voucher for $ 70 for 2 people, and left super full with leftovers. First glance at the menu, the prices seem a bit steep. However, if you pick and choose thoughtfully, you definitely get your money’s worth. The quality of ingredients was impressive, and though the menu is simple the dishes are well-composed and very tasty. The creamy burrata was generously sized, and the mild flavors gave the dish a more delicate quality without being too heavy. The French onion soup was topped with an overflowing layer of broiled cheese, and the soup was richly flavored but not greasy. Smoked salmon tartine could’ve easily been very average, but the ratio of toppings was spot on and there was none of that lingering fishiness. A very good seafood option. Croque Monsieur is gooey and satisfying — eat quickly while the cheese and bechamel are still hot. Lastly, dessert was the weakest– the apple crumble had an odd sandy texture and the fondant an chocolate(lava cake) was lacking serious chocolate flavor. Final takeaway: an intimate setting good for dates, their savory foods are«basic» but executed well, and end the night with a glass of wine or dessert elsewhere. Their lunch special looks great if you’re in the area.

Such a cute place on Mulberry amidst all the traditional Italian places. This little French spot(known more for its brunch and lunch) serves up soups, salads, tartines(open-faced sandwiches), and a variety of traditional brunch items. My friend and I each got the brunch special(scrambled eggs + avocado on toast) and shared the French toast. The scrambled eggs were good and the French toast was divine! Keep in mind that the less expensive items tend to be smaller in portion size. The burger and eggs benedict were larger. Both were ordered by others at our table and both looked great. We all loved our food and agreed that Tartinery was worth coming back to. They also have great fresh-squeezed juices. I got a made-to-order(kale, apple, carrot, giner) — it was delish. Service is at a more casual pace here. They’re not overly attentive, but do provide the basics. Great, warm, rustic décor. Didn’t like that there was only one unisex bathroom for the whole restaurant.

Found this place through a Gilt City offer(one tartine and one drink per person), it was a very cool space. I went with a friend for lunch, we ordered the burrata which was outstanding and it came with toasted bread, beets, radishes, and scallions. It was creamy and putting some beet and radish in with the bite gave a great blend of textures, I added a little salt and pepper but I’m a fiend with those guys. We got the Croque Madame and the Perfect Chicken Salad tartines and split them. The chicken salad was killer and had nice big shavings of celery on top. I didn’t love the Croque Madame because it was very heavy and caused the toast to lose its crunch in the middle, but the outsides were nice and crisp so I just didn’t really eat the middle. I had the Beet Me Up juice-beet, apple, carrot, lemon, ginger– and it was delicious. Nice and tart with a hint of sweet. My friend made her own blend with orange, apple, and strawberry which was also very pleasant. Really cool little spot with a shockingly large space downstairs that would be a killer space for a party. If I came back I would try the roast beef tart and get a cappuccino because they both looked heavenly.

This place is again another one of the many restaurants that i walk past all the time but have never given a second thought. There’s just so many options in the city how can one possibly visit everywhere! My friend suggested this place and i was very pleased. There wasn’t a wait when we arrived around 5pm on a saturday which was a plus. The ambiance was cozy, private and not stuffy. My friends and i were able to chat and have a good laugh without worrying that we’ll bother people around us. The service was also great. Our waitress stopped by a few times to make sure we were doing okay and refilled our glasses promptly. The food. I can only speak for the tartine but the ones i tried were yum. I got the avocado and asparagus tartine! i’m a huge fan of asparagus and arugula so it was perfect along with some nuts egg and avocado. it also hit the spot and got me to a place of full but i’m didn’t feel like passing out from a food coma. the ricotta tartine was interesting. it was both savory and sweet. the Croque Monsieur was almost like a little breakfast tartine and tasted really good. overall i think the food was good and looking at other reviews i’m interested in trying some of the other tartine. the space was great and don’t be fooled by the windows they actually have a large seating area downstairs.

Ambiance: I’d probably give this place 5 stars for ambiance alone. The place had a wonderfully romantic and rustic feel. Definitely recommend for an intimate date night. Décor, arrangement, lighting… loved everything. Food: I got their Avocado & Asparagus Tartine and enjoyed it, but thought it was a tad too sour. Ingredients felt fresh, though. Drinks: I liked their peach sakejito(sake + mojito cocktail); thought it was a clever way to mix up a cocktail — might be on the sweet side for most people, but still had a nice balance. Evened out the sourness of the tartine. Dessert: My friend and I shared the Pain Perdu and I have to say their dessert was the highlight of the dinner(other than the restaurant ambiance). Something so simple has bread, caramel, and ice cream, just hit the right spot. Perfect combination of fresh warm bread with oozing caramel on top and to cool everything off with nice buttery vanilla ice cream. Highly recommend you leave room for dessert. Actual rating: 4.5 stars — big fan of this place and would definitely return.

Solid lunch deal, got the butternut squash soup which came with a few pieces of toast, and the avocado asparagus tartine. The tartine, despite the fact that they describe it as «small», was actually the perfect portion for lunch. Both were really good. Docking one star because for some reason they didn’t bring the full amount of change back when we were laying the bill; my friend didn’t get 40 cents back when he paid cash, which I’m not saying he was jipped or anything given its 40 cents, but I think we should have been given the option to leave it(as a part of the full tip). For the price of $ 12.50, I will be back again.

I was here with a group of 6 last Thursday for lunch. The restaurant has two levels with a majority of the dining space downstairs. The main level is mostly counter seating /bar and the lower level has about 5 tables with one square table in the center that suited our group size perfectly. The only thing is that there is a tree going through the middle of that table which obstructs your view making it difficult to speak to guests across the table. The décor is just lovely. Modern, soho, casual chic. I read so may reviews about the service being really slow so I came here already in anticipation of that. However, I did not find it slow at all. The service was actually quite good with the server being attentive and charming to all. My one beef(pun intended) was my steak tartine. The steak although delicious, placed atop bread, was not easy to eat. You cannot easily bite through both the steak and the bread and munch away. I had to separate the steak, cut a piece, cut the bread, put the small piece of steak back on top of bread, then eat together. I was also expecting a horseradish mayo but the spread tasted just like Hellman’s mayo. I was disappointed in my tartine and the steep price of $ 19.50 only added salt to the wound. However, everyone else seemed to polish off their plates so maybe it was just bad ordering on my part(though it was recommended by the server). My 2nd beef is that the menu did not have the french onion soup. Their menu online lists three soups different from the 2 listed on the menu provided at the restaurant which can only mean that their menu is outdated and therefore not setting the proper expectations of their diners. The lunch special at $ 12.50 is a great way to go. You get a full bowl of soup, about half the size of the regular tartine(getting a tartine at full price is not worth it at all), plus a salad.

Came here for brunch with another couple and we had a nice time. Service was pretty bad– forgot to bring my friends cappuccino multiple times and never brought us plates when we asked for them. However, we enjoyed the food. We got the following tartines: –RICOTTA –FARMROASTEDCHICKEN –ORGANICSMOKEDSALMON –LOBSTER We also got an order of the ricotta pancakes and thought they were great. We all liked all of the tartines except for the chicken. It was cold and pretty plain. Also, the ricotta one would be very simple to make at home. Lobster and Salmon were my favorites. The space is pretty– we sat downstairs and it had high ceilings and plenty of light from the windows. Oh and the coffee is Blue Bottle which was awesome!

For my sister’s birthday dinner this year, she chose Tartinery, located in the Nolita area. We have both heard good things about Tartinery but never got a chance to go try them out. Since we were ending our post-Christmas shopping in Soho, she thought it would be a great place to grab her birthday dinner. Quick tip: you definitely need reservations if you plan on arriving later in the night. By the time we left at around 8pm, there were a few groups waiting outside. We were a group of five so we ordered two appetizers to share. First up was the Pata Negra Plate, which consists of iberco ham and garlic & tomato paste served with toasts. The ham was very fragrant and tasted great when paired with the tomato paste. I wish there was more ham! My sister, the birthday girl, went with the Croque Madame Tartine with ham chiffonade, gruyère cheese and a fried egg on top. I had a piece of her tartine and I thought it was one of the best Croque Madames I have ever had. The cheese was melty and gooey. And the leaky egg yolk really helped round the entire taste combination up to a perfect little package. I had the Steak Minute Tartine with filet steak, caramelized onion and horseradish mayo. I didn’t care too much for the caramelized onions but I really loved the horseradish mayo. It had a hint of pepper and spice, which was a nice compliment to the steak. I was really too full to finish the bread along with the steak but I did it because of the delicious mayo! Service was pretty attentive throughout the entire dinner. Beer prices are pretty reasonable but some wines are definitely on the pricey side. My glass of Riesling, although good, was $ 11, which can buy me a whole bottle at Astor Wines. Come for the tartines, but skip the wine list if you’re on a budget!
