Butterfly is a great place, went there on a friday evening and the bar was fairly crowded. The bartenders are great and friendly, knew their drinks well and and took the time to explain them to us. We got our cocktails which were super delicious within 5 mins. Food compliments the cocktail menu too which is an added advantage, cheese curds are yum, and cuban needs a little kick but equally delicious. And if you want a burger look no further! One of the best ive had. Staff is prompt and courteous. Though the décor can be better. Overall a great place and has potential. Oh and they have an amazing happy hour menu! Do not miss it!

Great music, great vibe and and amazing cocktails. The New York Sour was amazing and after a few drinks they started to make custom drinks based on our preferences.

Ignore the guys who have issues with the delivery orders, the food here is killer if you’re eating in. I stopped in mid-day after TriBeCa Film Festival events. I’ve tried lots of drinks, but a bartender named Lester gave me some brilliant cocktails that I’d never tried before — some Negroni variant with amaro and other wonderful stuff. If it’s mellow inside, it’s worth mentioning what you like and letting whomever is behind the bar build you something. The fried chicken is as good as you’ll get in Manhattan, and the patty melt is a hangover-killer. People complain about big screen TVs taking over bars, but it makes this a comfortable spot if you’re eating solo.

I just received a dinner delivery from The Butterfly. I ordered the fried chicken, which is described as «Bell and Evans chicken, 24 hour brine. Served with biscuits.» The price: $ 19.00. I also added an additional order of biscuits, for $ 5.00. So I think it’s reasonable for one to expect that this order(at this price) would be an ample serving of fried chicken, right? Wrong. There were 3 very small pieces of chicken delivered: a tiny breast, a thigh and a drumstick. That’s it. And there were 2 tiny biscuits(I’m not sure if these were the ones that were«served» with my chicken, or my additional order. The chicken was fine – moist, not a great deal of flavor, but no complaint. The description was misleading and the size of the order was disgraceful. I just finished dinner, and I’m still hungry! Buyer, beware!

Ok lets try and make this simple. If are looking for a dinner that’s easy on the waistline then you are probably in the wrong place. Well bingo bongo its a winner. Apparently its Wisconsin soul food. I don’t care what it is it is its going down faster than Usain Bolt. everything is good for sharing .so here is what we had Battered Wisconsin cheddar curds Crispy chicken wings, spicy honey glaze Reuben croquettes with corned beef, sauerkraut, rye, thousand island dressing Butterfly patty melt — 6 oz. dry-aged beef patty, caramelized onions, gruyère & American cheese, caraway rye –where have you been all my life ? Butterfly Fried chicken . Like I said this isn’t for the supermodel watching her weight but if you have had a few drinks and in the mood for something naughty this is the spot.

It’s Saturday morning and usually it’s not easy to book a table in a restaurant for brunch but we got it right away at butterfly. we love this place because its comfy and with a nice interior design except the tiny tables. the signature fried chicken and the patty melt burger always well prepared, we tried also the biscuits basket for my opinion a bit too dry, the staff was very attentive so stop by and enjoy the beginning of your weekend here.

Before I start let me just say that I’ve been here for lunch twice before… We came today at 12:30 and the door was open but all the chairs were up on the tables. We were yelling and yelling for someone and finally one of the guys in the kitchen said they’re not open for lunch. Why did you take our 12:30 reservation then on the phone the day before? Our clients came all the way down from midtown to a place that wasn’t even open?! Thanks for the headache and aggravation! Also– you should truly be careful leaving the door open like that with no one there… we were there a good 5 minutes before anyone even noticed we were in there…

Cocktails and appetizers are the way to go here. The rueben croquettes, deviled eggs and crispy cheese curds are all that you need to hold you up while you’re having one the cocktails here. The dry-aged beef patty melt, while tasty with Caramelized onions, has its flavor overwhelmed with the gruyère and American cheese mix.

Seamless destroyed my order during delivery. Called Butterfly and they handled perfectly an issue that wasn’t likely their fault to begin with, and even threw in a free app. Food is delicious. Ordered the Sunday Ragu several times and never disappoints.

After just one visit, I can say that The Butterfly is one of my new favorites in the Tribeca neighborhood. The inside layout offers intimate seating as well as a nice bar area, with a swanky but low key feel(who knew that was even possible). Plus they have an AMAZING menu of comfort food staples like Fried Chicken, Chicken Biscuit Sliders, Swedish Meatballs and the most delicious homemade Macaroni & Cheese. I cannot wait to go back!

Came in here last night just to meet up with some friends that were visiting. We didn’t have any of the food but just came in for drinks. The reason why I’m giving this place 3 stars is because, even though they closed at midnight, last call for alcohol was at 11pm. Although, I guess I can understand since it was January 1st and a slower night. The thing I really liked about this place is that it was low key and the music was not overly blaring. It was the perfect environment that I was looking for since I just wanted a place where I could catch up with my friends over drinks.

I heard good things about this bar but was a little disappointed when I tried it out. The bar feels somewhat mid-century/tiki themed but doesn’t feel complete. It’s like they partially got the vibe they were going for. The staff was friendly however a little slow in checking in on us and keeping the cocktails flowing. The cocktail selection was somewhat traditional for the theme however they drinks themselves weren’t amazing. My first cocktail(off the seasonal assortment) tasted watered down. If you work in the tea this would be a good bar for happy hour cocktails but I wouldn’t travel too far out of your way.

Cozy place for happy hour & after work drinks. However, they’re a bit pricey for happy hour, you might as well order from a regular menu. Cocktails $ 10, $ 5 draft beer & $ 8 Wine.

Would definitely come back. The fried chicken is excellent — I don’t eat many carbs, but I ate half a biscuit and it was incredible. Cheese curds were good(but not memorable). Friend got a pasta dish and liked it. The extra star goes to our server, who went the extra mile for everything. Can’t remember his name, but was an Asian dude. Provided excellent recommendations for drinks, was cheerful without being intrusive. My friend even made a point to give him compliments for his service. If everyone provides great service as he does, then The Butterfly is a winner.

I’ve been wanting to try their famous patty melt since I’ve seen it in so many articles online as a must try sandwich. It was like a big fat juicy burger more the a patty melt. It was very oily, hearty and I felt super heavy after. It was good, but probably a little too much on the oily side. I did get to try the boyfriends chicken sandwich and it was a darn good chicken sandwich.

We stopped in here for drinks as we were waiting for our hotel room to become available as we made it there before check-in. It was around noon on Thursday so no one was really there. We got a nice seat in the back and just ordered drinks. We did about 3 rounds and then one of the bartenders brought us complimentary appetizers; fries and cheese curds. That was really nice of them, but I assume it was their way of saying welcome to NY!

Get to the Chase: Pros: 1) I hate fried food, because it’s so greasy and heavy, BUT this place made me a believer! It was fried, and yet did not leave you with a greasy throat or nasty fingers that look like they were dunked in a vat of oil 2) Absolutely fantastic waiter… didn’t catch her name on Thursday, but she had a smile, knew the special cocktails, and was quite pleasant in taking our orders 3) Coca cola ice cream… nuff said 4) Drinks are quite good too… not as delicious and unique as gastropubs or the small places in Brooklyn, but still a good variety Cons: 1) Carbs, carbs, carbs… tons of guilty fry(some acidic balance would help cut through the fry/carb pattern of choices on the menu) 2) Coca cola ice cream dessert had overkill in sweet flavors imo… although the caramel popcorn and cherries added a nice texture change, it was way too sweet… diabetes on your wish list 3) Happy hour is limited to patrons at the bar… which sucks if you want to eat and drink

KenScale: 8.0÷10 The Butterfly is a cocktail bar and supper club as a collaboration between chef Michael White(paying homage to his Wisconsin root) and bartender Eben Freeman. The restaurant features American cuisine with Midwestern roots and Freeman’s take on classic cocktails. It is featured as a cocktail bar, but I really liked all of the dishes that I tried here. For starters, I tried rueben croquettes with corned beef and bratwurst sliders. Both dishes were really tasty and an excellent start to the meal. For the main dishes, I had patty melt in rye bread featuring dry-aged beef patty and buttermilk fried chicken with coleslaw and cheddar biscuits. Patty melt was so rich and decadent, and I couldn’t stop eating this. Fried chicken was also really tender(as were the cheddar biscuits), although it could’ve been seasoned a little less salty. For dessert, I tried coppa cola that had coca-cola ice cream, caramel popcorn whisky cream, and cherries. The ice cream did taste like coke, which made this dessert dish fun and interesting. I had to sample at least a couple of cocktails from Freeman given his reputation as one of the premier mixologists in the city. Overall, the cocktails were a bit on the sweeter side than I preferred, but I did like brandy old fashioned and whiskey sour. The restaurant wasn’t that crowded when I visited it early Friday evening, although it filled up quickly over time. Make sure to visit early if you can, or you can just grab a seat at the bar. For a place to hang out with friends after work to grab some cocktails along with snacks, The Butterfly is definitely a worthwhile destination.

It’s classified as a cocktail bar, but don’t be fooled: the food here is amazing. I don’t drink even a little bit, but I had an amazing meal here. For the past week or so, I have been seeing stuff about The Butterfly Patty Melt before it even opened, which intrigued me. That, combined with the fact that it’s Michael White’s new place made me realize I must come try it out ASAP. And I was pleasantly surprised at how great my meal was on just the second night they were open. Everything went so smoothly and the service was all so perfect that it seemed like they were pros running the restaurant for weeks already. On to the important stuff, the food, which we ordered plenty of: — Rueben Croquettes($ 9) These were awesome: 5 piping hot, perfectly fried little reuben sandwiches in croquette form. These were so delicious and so hot I burned my tongue, but it was worth it. — Bratwurst Sliders($ 13) You get two delicious sliders consisting of some really good sausage on always delicious potato rolls. 2 for 2 for the starters. — Butterfly Patty Melt($ 17) This is the thing I keep reading about that’s getting all of the news for this place, and it’s completely justified. This is a rich, heavy sandwich, but it’s worth every gasp for breath you take as you work your way through it. It also comes with fries or green salad, so even though you shouldn’t need to be told that you obviously go with the fries, I will say that these fries were unexpectedly good — they just like average diner fries(those thick, potato-y masses), but they were way better. They were nice and crispy for this type of fry, and had a perfect amount of salt. — Buttermilk Fried Chicken($ 23) This was awesome, especially the incredibly juicy piece of white meat. The other dark meat pieces were also good, but I could have easily eaten a whole bucket of just the white meat. The Cheddar Biscuit and Coleslaw it was served with were also great sides — the biscuit was very moist and not at all dry or crumbly like biscuits often are, and the coleslaw was nice and refreshing and a big help to get through so much beige. — Macaroni And Cheese($ 8) Because we didn’t have enough food, I had to also get a side of course, and this was a great choice. Not too cheesy, and the pasta itself was great — it was different from traditional mac & cheese, as the noodles were much longer than the usual little elbows. At this point, despite the heavy breathing, there were two of us, so we obviously had to get two desserts. — Coppa Cola($ 9) This consists of Coca-Cola Ice Cream(?!), Caramel Popcorn, Whiskey Cream and Amareno Cherries in a little glass. This was a great, refreshing dessert. The ice cream REALLY tastes like Coke if you get a bite of it on its own without all of the other great flavors going on. Like going to the movies in dessert form. — Little«B»($ 10) Even though the Coke Ice Cream & popcorn was really good, this dessert was the winner: Devil’s Food Cake with Vanilla Frosting, Chocolate Mousse and Milk Ice Cream. The very rich, dense chocolate cake went perfectly with the cold, refreshing ice cream. Perfect ending to a way too big meal. Aside from the binging, the space is really nice with a great atmosphere. It’s a little loud since it’s small and there are a lot of people at the bar shouting over each other, but it’s still a great time. I can imagine it might be a bit of a pain to get seated near the front though, as it’s a narrow restaurant, and already on the second night there were way too many dudes crowding around the bar, which puts them right on top of these tables in that area. So if you just want a more calmer meal, go early and go for a seat in the back area, which is really nice and gives you a little more privacy. On my way out, I saw chef Michael White, who is soon going to be too big(fame-wise) to stop to talk to fools like me, but he was super nice and really really friendly, which only enhanced this awesome experience even more to know that such a nice guy is behind this place. So come for the drinks(apparently), but make sure you stay for the food.
