Went to New York for vacation and stopped at this shop. It was awesome! They had a wide variety of sandwiches to choose from. My girlfriend loved the soup. When we go back to New York, we are definitely stopping at The Original Sandwich Shoppe of New York.

A solid sandwich joint, one of my favorites in the city. They never disappoint — from succulent roast beef, to pastrami, and chicken salad… I’m always a fan when I’m nearby and hungry. Friendly service, and fresh ingredients too! Definitely recommend for a hearty lunch.

This place has all fresh tasty ingredients, and a very kind helpful staff. The virginia ham is awesome! And You have to try the turkey. They make your sandwich just like you want. I also had their bread pudding(a great way to top a great meal!) I also reccomend that if you can’t decide what to get– ask for recommendations– they know their craft.

I’d been wanting to try this spot when a sandwich craving hit and maybe my mistake was ordering delivery, but I was extremely disappointed in the Cuban sandwiches I ordered. One(for my picky boyfriend that asked for no condiments) had barely any meat or cheese. The other, which had no modifications, while it had a more appropriate amount of meat and cheese was still pretty sad. Also ordered a carrot orange juice, which was awesome — so I’ll give them some credit for that. I’m sure they have some amazing sandwiches, so next time I’ll just steer clear of the Cuban and delivery.

This place is great! The bread is always fresh and they’re generous with their meats. My favorites are the italian sub(#6) and the chicken parmigiana, but we’ve also had several of their other sandwiches and they’ve all been good. Try the herbal mayo(tastes like pesto to me) if you get one of the turkey sandwiches.

I spent Thanksgiving with my Russian roommate at a Colombian restaurant, so no turkey was consumed this year and I basically didn’t even acknowledge my US roots. HOWEVER, my weekend turned around when I hopped over to The Original Sandwich Shoppe, a very all-American kind of place with a big sandwich menu. I was a little overwhelmed at first(I blame the hunger) but opted for the turkey sandwich– guys, this wasn’t your average turkey slice kind of sandwich. It was legit TURKEY. Pieces of turkey, just like Thanksgiving dinner. I also came here the other week for a quick meeting over coffee– just a basic black cup, a seat by the window and good conversation. Super cute spot, delicious sandwiches, nice staff. Thanksgiving traditions were saved thanks to TOSSONY!

This place is a quaint little sandwich shop on the off beaten path(kind of). Found it on Unilocal and came here on my lunch break. Ordered the fresh turkey on a sesame baguette. Amazing! My sandwich came with fresh turkey(dark& white meat) mayo, lettuce, & tomato. The turkey was hot and juicy but I wish they didn’t heat it up before assembling my sandwich. By the time I got to my destination my sandwich was a little soggy because of the juice from the meat. The sandwich was about $ 10 with tax and definitely worth every penny. Maybe next time I’ll try different bread(focaccia or rye). Also, there is a $ 10 minimum for cards which shouldn’t be a problem, as most items around $ 10. If you decide to check this place out(which you totally should) order the fresh turkey!

The best sandwich shop in town. Hands down. The freshly made turkey with their home made herbal mayo and hot sauce… to die for. It’s one of those small businesses that must stay.

Eat24 pickup of the Fresh Roasted Turkey Make it: Sandwich Extra Toppings: Mozzarella Cheese($ 0.50 Extra) $ 10.25 was solid but not sure it’s a $ 10 sandwich. Also not sure how the staff knew which of their 10 pickup orders I was unless they just have that many regulars and that few new faces.

TL: DRL: The wait for this delivery was as long and arduous as this review. Currently enduring a 1 ½ hour wait for a single sandwich. Placed a group order at work for lunch and one of our co-workers ordered from here. After 30 minutes past delivery time, I call in to inquire, make sure there wasn’t an error in communication. I’m told that they’re very busy and it’ll be 20 more minutes. Understandable for a friday lunch, its busy. After another 30 minutes I call back and am told that it must be out on delivery because it’s not in the shop. But I’m not told in that way, all the lady on the phone says is, «Well, I don’t have it. I don’t have that order. I don’t have it.» I offer up the suggestion that it could be on it’s way with the delivery person and maybe that is why she doesn’t have it and she seems to agree that this might be the case. Another 15 minutes, no sandwich. I call back because this poor single co-worker is sitting here sandwich-less while the rest of us are munching on burritos and sushi. Again, she says she doesn’t have it. Then she asks the address again and says that since no one answered the phone(which I am sitting right by and answering when it rings) that the delivery guy came back. And she’s not saying this politely. She sounds upset and accusatory. I let her know that I’m sitting by the phone. She keeps accusing me of not answering. I offer up the suggestion that maybe the wrong number was called. We double check and confirm the number. I can’t believe that I’M having to provide customer service to HER, it is completely unreasonable. She asks if we would like the sandwich resent. I say yes. 25 minutes later, I get off the phone with them and they say they will remake the sandwich(thank goodness) and will send it out when the delivery guy returns. The sandwich arrives at 2:30, 2 hours late. My poor co-worker has an out of office meeting he has already left for. I get a call on my cell because she says he’s calling out office and no one is answering. When I go to get the sandwich, I just want to make sure our phones are working right so I check the number he’s dialing. Its the wrong number. Off by one digit. Here’s my question: if no one is answering, wouldn’t you stop to double, triple check the number? When a delivery person comes back with the order saying no one is answering the phone, wouldn’t you, as the dispatcher, double or triple check the number dialed on the delivery person’s cell against the one on the order? I guess at the Original Sandwich Shoppe, they don’t do that, they just accuse the person who ordered it. And, upon finding out where the mistake lies, not offer anything to make up for it. No % off the next order, no free brownie, no comp single sandwich. Basically no incentive to ever order from here again. Fun Update: Just received another call from the lady! She called to tell me that the number on our order must be wrong. I am looking at our seamless account and the information we have listed(which has been on the account for innumerable past orders from various other restaurants for our biweekly group order– and we’ve ordered from them before). I try to reason with her and point out the single digit difference in what she’s telling me, she keeps interrupting me to tell me that basically, this is our mistake until I actually say, «Hey, listen, you’re not listening to me» and repeat our phone number compared to the one dialed by the delivery person. Then she backs down and says oh, ok, I see. And guess what? Still no offer to make the situation better. Wow. 3 hour debacle over a single digit that any simple step of customer service could have avoided. I get it, mistakes happen. As someone who has worked in restaurants of varying sizes and price points, and as someone who has had to deal with delivery problems before, this was an awful experience and it is 100% the fault of the lady who mans the phones and the delivery person.

Took the Unilocalers’ suggestions and had the chicken salad sandwich, which as promised was excellent and reasonably priced($ 10 w/tax). The homemade focaccia bread was delicious and portions were generous, so it hit the spot. But what deserves equally high ranking is the Sandwich Shoppe’s charm, as it is a true mom and pop establishment that delivers a specialized quality product in an unpretentious, comfortable setting. Sadly, these places are growing few and far between, especially in this neighborhood, and we should help them stay here for the long haul!

Ate: Chicken Salad w herbal mayo I decided to try the most raved about sandwich and it did not disappoint. I won’t say this is the best sandwich I’ve ever had, but if you’re looking for something very good, no frills, and reminds you of those lunchbox days this is your place. It’s the perfect balance of creamy and chicken. Love it I’ll definitely come back and have another sandwich brown bagged for me!

Pros: family run(yes to local businesses!!) Fresh Bread, Generous serving, Excellent Choice if you dig fresh pulled turkey sandwiches, perfect homemade Brownies for those of us who don’t want to make and eat an entire pan! Cons: maybe it wasn’t the best batch but I didn’t understand the obsession with the herb mayo. It was really flat to me. Outcome: As far as sandwiches in New York go, this has clearly been a fixture of the neighborhood. Worth the try!

Honestly nothing special. We ordered the mama’s friend chicken sandwich and the steak on the baguette … Great taste but skimpy on the meat. I wasn’t even full after eating lunch here. I probably wouldn’t come back when there are a million delis and sandwich shops that pile on the goods.

Same thing everyone else is saying — chicken salad sandwich with herbal mayo. Amazing! Cute little shop that does a great trade and has many options to choose from. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend to anyone.

Oh baby! Nice unit. Had the chicken salad sandwich toasted on wheat with this ridiculous herb mayo!!! That is a nice sammie. I want to try them all and with enough time I will. Everyone in the place was happy and satisfied it seemed. Could use a fountain for drinks, but I’ll take the quality sandwich over that any day. Staff was great, service was quick and good.

Man who though a sandwich could be this good. Fresh bread and fresh fillings. The marinated chicken sandwich is a must. It’s winter and they are selling warm apple cider. Amazing

Once upon a time I was people watching in Washington Square Park. My stomach grumbled and I thought of food. Two British men sat next to me as I daydreamed of humus and falafels vs. sushi vs. pizza. My eyes caught them unwrapping their food. At that second, I caught a smell that reminded me of home the day after Thanksgiving… Ever since that day I’m such a fan of their oven roasted turkey sandwich. Get it with the mixed dark and white meat. Have them pour the juice over. Be bold and get avocado in the sandwich and get an Orangina and chips and walk over to Washington Square Park and have yourself a heavenly picnic. I have and its wonderful. This is an amazing sandwich shop without much frills, they make good home made quality sandwiches.

Never in my life have I posted a review before but I thought I would take the time to tell the world about an amazing sandwich shop located here in NY. During my second week here in New York I was craving a sandwich one afternoon. I wanted a fat turkey sandwich to fill me up and send me on my way. I then came across T.O.S.S of N.Y. on Unilocal and stopped in to see what all it was about. This little shop was a perfect drop in that catered to anyone and everyone from construction workers to the business man stopping in for a quick bite. The guy ahead of me was a regular and I could just tell he knew what to get and so I had him order for me because I knew how to hook it up! Let me just tell you the turkey was probably the best turkey I have ever had! I’m talking fall apart juiciness and I didn’t want the sandwich to end. Not only is the food great but this sandwich shop is still in the family and tradition is still there which you don’t see very often anymore. I shook the owners hand and talked with him for about ten minutes hearing about how they were«The original» and it was pretty interesting. This is a must stop for lunch on a pretty day.

Excellent Sandwichs avec baguette croustillante entre 7 et 10 dollars. Les cookies avaient l air delicieux. Je recommande vivement.
