Wonderful food options amazing beer selection great cheese. Unfortunately the counter staff is cold and unfriendly. They may be knowledgeable but they lack that extra bit of local flavor that makes you want to return and be a loyal customer. I just walked in and did not get it knowledged granted they were helping other customers, but it would be nice to hear «I’ll be with you in a minute» after waiting for five minutes So I left. With my money in my pocket.

Staff is well educated on beer especially eric. Cool place to taste good beer. Great place to have on 7^th Avenue.

love this place! i go out of my way to shop here because the selection is top notch and the service is great. friendly, knowledgeable staff that seem genuinely excited about their cheeses *i know i sound insufferable, but it makes a HUGE difference when trying to find the perfect thing to bring to a party or eat alone on your couch, haha. ALSO, they sell delicious beers, BUT the last time i was there, i needed to pick up wine for a party. the guy who helped me with my cheese selections gave me recommendations for the wine place next door, specifically where to find the $ 10 section. if you are a cheese monger or a just getting into the world of cheese/​cured meats, you gotta hit up The Ploughman the next time you need a fix.

This little shop is great. I don’t know how we didn’t walk out with one of everything! The cheese selection is amazing. The staff is so helpful and make incredible recommendations. I highly recommend you come in for a taste or two, you’ll likely walk out with a bag full of goodies!

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Amazing selection of cheese and smoked meats /​pâté. If you’re not sure what to get, ask the nice people behind the counter. They’ll even sell you a small portion of only a few slices.

A little bit pricy but would love to give them a stars because their products are so unique. Love their spicy cider. Yummmmm.

The Ploughman is pretty much what a cheese shop should be. The place isn’t big, but it is extremely clean and it also has a lot of great cheese (most importantly). But it’s the staff really makes this place stand out. Everyone from the owner down is friendly and knowledgeable. They’re also happy to give away samples (within reason of course).
What I really love here is the pairings, especially the beer. Very good selection of beer that rival many supposed «craft beer» specific shops. They even have Bourbon County and other more high end beers. They also are good about suggesting pairings, both with the bottles they have as well as growlers. They also have plenty of sausages to go with the cheese as well. I’d come here much more if it was on my side of the park, but even still I like walking over here once in a blue moon.

A nice little cheese shop located conveniently next to a wine store. The selections of cheese are plentiful. The staff is very nice and will answer all your curiosities. Beer and sandwiches also available. Everything offered is fair in price.

Love this place! Such a unique collection of local products and the owners are the most lovely and knowledgeable people. We made a meal on sampling cheese! I highly recommend this shop for all cheese and accoutrements.

The Ploughman has a great selection of artisanal/​specialty cured meats and cheeses.
The staff was very friendly, knowledgable, and spent a lot of time helping me assemble a mix of items for a gift. Probably tasted 10 – 12 items and ended up buying 8 of them.
It was near closing time but they didn’t try to rush me out.

The staff here is so friendly and helpful! Lots of craft beers on tap, try every one and leave with a big jug of liquid love! They have all sorts of other items such as crackers, pickles, breads, baked goods.

I hate to give one star, because I’ve also been an employee at a gourmet store like the Ploughman. But this person did things I’d never do, and the more experienced employee should have watched over him a bit more:
–I asked for a half pound of cheese, and I was offered me a third pound cheese end. I said no thanks, and was cut the «fresh» cheese instead. When I unwrapped it at home, I saw pink mold around the edge. I cut it off, but my mouth is itching as I write this. Doesn’t feel good to waste $ 10 on bad-​mould-​y cheese that is probably going to make me sick.
–It’s scary to put your hand close to the slicer, I know. It wasn’t bolted properly to the table either. But don’t tell me you can’t cut me a thin slice because «the pieces will be too short.» Have the other person do it. Nothing worse than getting home and having extra-​thick, uneven, stuck-​together prosciutto (no wrap between the slices).
–Please don’t type into your iPhone when you have my credit card in your hand. I’m a human being. I also don’t want to have to convince myself you’re not stealing my CC number.
You seem like a really smart person, and I know you’ll move on to bigger and better things. But in the meantime, please be open to learning how to not be a butthead. It makes it not worth it to go there.

There is a great selection of cheeses, charcuterie and beers here of mostly very high quality. But the service ranges from the friendly and helpful (the young ladies especially) to condescending and rude (the owner). I’ve even been ignored for 10 very long minutes while standing at the cheese case waiting for service while others were helped ahead of me.
With so many options in the neighborhood and indeed the city, I won’t be going back.

Simple and perfect-​sized cheese selection for your upcoming party (or Saturday afternoon snack). Fresh bread by the door, variety of meats and great beers on tap (which unfortunately, you can’t preview). Overall, a great shop. Everyone who works here isn’t pretentious or uptight and will help you out with any questions. I dig.

Overpriced deli food really. PIckled ramps will run you $ 32/​lb. Goat cheese can run even more than that.
They have every right to charge what prices they like, but I think this store is better suited for Beverly Hills or Aspen where people have money to burn. This review is mostly a warning to the every day working person that stumbles in. Buyer beware!

Has great growler pours!

This little spot has a great selection of artisanal cheeses and charcuterie, some prepared foods, antipasti, bread, oil/​vinegar, food spreads, and a lot of great, somewhat obscure craft beer. To top all that, they have rotating drafts and will fill/​refill growlers for you. Yes, sir.
The staff are super friendly, helpful, and will let you taste stuff when you’re being indecisive (wink, wink). A nice small business worth supporting in the area. If you’re a fan of places like BK Larder or Murray’s, then this is the place for you.

I walked in and asked if they had anything really smelly. And runny.
Most market employees would grimace. When that request excites the staff, you’ve found a good place.
They sold me a cheese from France that was ripe as heck. A cured meat sausage from Italy that was rich and perfect. I bought some olives here and grapes from another place, allowing me to eat like a king for the next week.
Simple products with profound flavors… be it beer, cheese, bread, jam (whatever). It’s magic when it works.
