Best Mexican restaurant — I keep going back for more. Not only are the food and drinks great, but the people there are awesome too! You should definitely check it out. Haven’t had one thing I did not love!

We’ve had amazing food and service on weeknights, but they seemed totally overwhelmed on this Saturday eve. We waited far too long for a reserved table and the food was not up to their usual standard. We were so packed in, we were almost hit by passers by and staff many times. The din was so intense I couldn’t hear my table mates without us shouting. I will only be back during less prime times from now on.

I went there last night with my friend because we saw on their website that there is a happy hour on Thursday 5pm-8pm. We got there at 7:30 and the host informed us that on Thursdays the happy hour is from 5 until 7 pm. He then told me that I must have been mistaken. I showed him their own website saying«Thursday happy hour 5−8». He showed me their printed menu, which says«Thursday happy hour 5−7» and told us that we can’t get the happy hour prices. This was very surprising to us, especially that this was clearly their mistake. All in all we left and went to nearby Talde(amazing food and drinks). This is not about few $ that we would have saved. The host was unpleasant, unaccommodating, and they should update their website.

I can’t say enough good things about Fonda. The service was excellent, great atmosphere, delicious food, beautifully presented, and gorgeous cocktails! Made to order spicy guacamole and hibiscus margaritas are worth the trip alone!

We went to Fonda on a double date last night and it was just awesome! We started our meal off with some guac with chips and soft tacos and drinks. They make really great cocktails and have a decent beer(no beers on tap though) and wine selection and lots of tequila of course. As an Entrée I had the«ENCHILADASDEMOLENEGROOAXAQUEÑO» and I have to say those were probably the best enchiladas I’ve ever head. Really tasty. We finished our meal with the Tres Leches dessert which was also really yummy and we all enjoyed our dinner at Fonda. Looking at how well the place is doing right now and how crowded it got on a Friday night, I would recommend putting a reservation in.

The flautas are bomb a f. All the food is really. Came with my gf for the happy hour at the bar. We got lucky and got two seats. It fills up really quickly and had to abandon hope another time before. Definitely glad we made it in this time. The chicken and pork were amazing as were the margaritas and frozen Rosalitas. All $ 6!

The host couldn’t give two sh! ts about trying to get us a table. It was almost humorous. Well, not almost. It was pretty funny. We saddled up to the bar and continued to enjoy ourselves. The staff(minus the host) were incredible. Buckle up, get past the host and enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

A nice Mexican restaurant in the slope. For the price however, I expected the portions to be a bit bigger.

I went to Fonda last night. It was pretty crowded for a Monday night. We didn’t have a reservation, but they were able to accommodate us. I ordered the classic margarita and my friend ordered a cocktail with guava and vodka. The drinks were very good. For appetizers, we ordered the guacamole and ceviche. We ordered the guacamole medium. It was a little more spicy than I would have liked, but it was delicious. I loved that they gave you tortillas, as well as chips. The ceviche was made with tuna and shrimp and had some jalapeños in it. It was also delicious. For our entrees, I had the beef short rib and my friend had the skirt steak. My beef short ribs were amazing. The meat was very tender and the mashed potatoes they came with were delicious. I tried my friend’s steak and it was also amazing. It was cooked perfectly and had these awesome mushrooms on the side. I wish we had had room for dessert. The service in this restaurant was great. The server was checking in and refilling water often. I can’t wait to return to Fonda!

Unfortunately I only took pics of my drink:( Which was the rosita, aka frozen strawberry Margarita, which visually was beautiful, and they weren’t cheap on the liquor. We ordered the guacamole, which was very fresh and came w/chips and tortillas. For entrees I got the salad with avocado and Carmelized onions, it was sooo good, that I didn’t feel bad for going to a Mexican spot and eating a salad! My friend ordered the chicken flautas, which she loved. Reasonably priced, we only paid $ 27, with tax and tip, awesome. the waiter was sooo attentive and sweet, and the ambiance was perfect. I don’t like overly exaggerated reviews, if not warranted. So, food was very good, and so was the staff, and yes I will be returning to taste more of the menu.

The ambiance is very cozy, they have outdoor seating which is perfect on warm days. The food is nice and spicy and the bartender is wonderful

We walked up and down 7th trying to avoid going to another taco joint. After getting water, reviewing the menus at a few spots we found ourselves at Fonda(our parking was right out front). Walking into the door, I saw the meal for me at another table. Let me say, The host and waiter Winston was friendly and helpful. He told me about the chicken tortilla soup that I was eyeballing, walked us through some great options, yet still served the whole room. Great job Winston. Next the sweet plantains, the twist on Mexican Corn & the carne asada tacos where off the chain. So much so my wife ordered the pork tacos(no swine for me) and liked them. But dude order the soup! Do what you got to do, get to Fonda Comida Mexican. It’s worth it! Thanks Winston!

Was looking for a great happy hour spot with food and drinks and stumbled upon this place. My friend and I came in and sat at the bar(you can only get happy hour prices at the bar). The bartender was super nice and friendly. If you come in by yourself, you’ll definitely have good conversation with the bartender. I ordered a red sangria and was surprised at the large glass. Usually places give you a tiny wine glass filled sangria. Their happy hour food menu is $ 6.00 per item. We ordered the guac and chips and Taquitos San Andres. The gauc was really fresh! They serve it in a large stone bowl. It didn’t look like much, but as we were eating, we noticed that the portion was pretty large. If you run out of chips, you can ask for more. Friendly staff, great happy hour. Great spot overall.

Been coming here since it opened, it’s always packed so make a res or don’t be surprised for a little wait. Guac is spot on served with corn tortillas and chips. Tacos are a bit small but tasty. My go-to is the mole chicken or enchilada suizas. Shrimp and scallops entrée also delish. Most meals served with rice and beans on side for table to share. Plaintains and corn side is a must! Tres leches was just ok.

I fell head over heels for the Manhattan Fonda during restaurant week last year so I’ve had a visit to the Park Slope Fonda on my to-do list for some time. Last night I finally got around to crossing that off the list. Like the Manhattan location, the menu here is clearly touched by its James Beard nominated chef and takes Mexican cuisine to a whole new honored level. The food is just as outstanding and the drinks are super strong. Once again, if I’m paying for a erin with alcohol in it, well then, thank you for putting alcohol in it. It’s the little things ya know? The Rosalito is a simple margarita and could seem like it would be a boring choice, but it’s actually treated like a classic in a Grace Kelley sort of way. In general, Fonda treats cocktails and margaritas with the same respect as their food. Something I always love to find in a restaurant. Our Friday night bartender was wonderful. He was funny and attentive, and graciously let us know when his shift was over, so that we could appropriately show our appreciation of the fun night he showed us, all with a keen sense of professionalism and tact. I gave Fonda in Manhattan four stars. I’m giving the Brooklyn location five because of the bartender and the general atmosphere on a Friday night. A little mellower, yet still fun, and a sincere attention to customer satisfaction.

I came here on a Monday night for one of their all night happy hours. Unfortunately for me my dick bf couldn’t control his appetite and ate before we got here. As a result all I had was the guac and it was great! It comes in a huge bowl with tortilla and a chipotle salsa which adds some great heat. The tortillas were corn and that’s not my thing so I stuck to the chips. I also had one of their rosalita frozen margaritas and lemme tell you, they def do not skimp on the alcohol. I walked out buzzed as a bee after one drink. I can’t wait to come back here and have a real meal

I’ve been a huge fan of this place since they opened, and I still am, for the most part. But the last two times I’ve been there the service as been bad to the point of annoying. When you order a cocktail and then an appetizer, you expect your cocktail first, not half way through your first course. To me, there’s nothing more annoying than that, which happened on both of my last two visits. On my last visit, our second drink arrived after we had finished our meal. I’m hesitant to go back.

Stopped in here a few weeks ago… So happy I use Unilocal!Place was awesome, from the delicious guacamole to the entrees and drinks! I had the Cochinita Pibil and was very happy, cuz it was big and I was hungry. Nice and juicy! The black mole served with it was the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars… Just not my thing, too bland. Made it work when topped with other flavors from the table. We were there with a table of 9 on a Friday eve and service couldn’t have been better! Hostess called as we were on our way, and got us in. We had drinks and guac on the table in 3 min. Water refilled, drinks refilled, warm tortillas replenished. All good.

We came here expecting top notch Mexican food and I was disappointed. First the guacamole, for $ 12, the portion was really small, it was quite plain. At this price, especially not in the city, I expected more. I had the taco de pescado, it’s an appetizer dish but available in entrée style. It was 3 fish tacos with a regular salad. There was too much batter on the fish and it was a bit dry, I believe it was overfried, I barely was able to taste the fish flavor. My tortilla was poorly made, it came apart and I couldn’t hold the contents in. All my three other friends dishes did not come with rice and beans. They gave us a small bowl of rice and beans for all 4 of us, which I thought was not sufficient. Mexican food without rice and beans? Seems kind of unusual. You should make a reservation before you come. It is a good place for a date, atmosphere was good. This is a Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn with city prices. I’ll resort to Chipotle, half the price and more tastier.
