I’ve always loved the 50s soda shoppe theme and this definitely takes you back to that era. The menu is not extensive but has something for everyone — salads, sandwiches, patty melts, burger without the bun, sides, soup, etc. I had the crab stuffed avocado and my friend the chicken waldorf. Both were light and tasty so we of course had to go for the pepperdew poppers and hush puppies! Everything was delicious. Unfortunately that day, they were closing a bit early and wasn’t serving the speciality sodas but they waiters were apologetic and we did not feel rushed. Normally they are open until 2:30pm. Great midtown lunch spot for a quick meal and great ambiance! Highly recommend if you’re also visiting NYC with kids and need a place that will appeal to both adults and children…

Loved it! As the previous reviewer mentioned, the place is decorated like a malt shop from the 50’s, and they even asked us to help ourselves to the jars of candy on our way out. I had the turkey club and asked for some of the lingonberry & jalapeño jam(which comes with the chicken ‘n waffle) on the side, just because I thought it sounded fun(it was, although it wasn’t spicy like I was hoping). It was a pretty solid turkey club – standard triple decker, so a lot of food. I also ordered the peppadew poppers, which were fantastic! They were peppadew peppers(small, kind of sweet/mildly spicy pepper) stuffed with cheese and deep fried. Delicious. I also tried one of the spiked sodas – the Orange Dawn, which comes with their housemade Jamaican soda(kind of a tropical punch), gin, and sweet vermouth. I highly recommend it! My husband had the Albuquerque Style«Chopped Steak»(i.e., burger without the bun), which comes with pepperjack, avocado, and a ‘fireeater’ sauce. It was so big it really didn’t need a bun. He reports that the fireeater sauce was tasty, but not very spicy. He also had a root beer float, which he quite enjoyed, and they brought out a complimentary side of spicy sesame coleslaw, which was his favorite part. The service was great, the food and drinks ranged from good to outstanding, and the decorations were fun. The only downside from my perspective is that the prices are a little expensive, although not really any more so than anywhere else in midtown during lunch. Regardless, I’ll be back!

The 50’s style luncheonette is on the 3rd floor of midtown restaurant Maloney & Porcelli. I went there on a Friday for lunch and loved the throwback red and white décor, counter decked out with large jars of candy and the popcorn machine. Fun pop up restaurant. I ordered a spiked soda, Bay of Pigs which consisted of Housemade Cola, Jamaican Dark Rum, Molasses & Lemon Bitters. Nice midday treat. I wasn’t that hungry so I ordered the tomato soup with grilled cheese croutons(served in a mug) and bacon/blue cheese hush puppies. I didn’t care for the soup… was missing something that I couldn’t put my finger on, but I devoured the hush puppies. Fried perfectly and salty. Num.
