The UPS Store

Fortunately, there are a few other UPS stores fairly nearby (for example, on 57^th between 8 and 9) and so I don’t have to go to this location these days. I always hated the rudeness of the staff and the incredible messiness of the store. There is no room to move because there are boxes and machines and paper EVERYWHERE. I can live with the messiness — as long as I can get a receipt for my package — but I absolutely cannot deal with the rudeness and hostile attitude. This is a UPS store and so it is not unreasonable for them accept pre-​labeled UPS packages with good grace. Save yourself a depressing day and do NOT use this UPS store.

Sent a package via UPS here last night. It was kind of crowded (there were two people being served and then me and another guy waiting) and it took awhile but the individual who helped me was courteous and efficient.
As long as my friend gets the package I sent her, I’ll stand by my three star review!

The manager here Wilson is extremely rude to his customers. I watched him rough talk several customers in front of me. When it was my turn, I asked to get a letter notarized, he cut me off and asked me if i «had an appointment». I explained i was walking in. He told me the next appointment was in 25 minutes and to step to the side. (He is the notary. I had him notarize something for me one time before before on a walk in basis. He actually wrote down the wrong date on that letter and botched the document, he was rude then too). Bizarre behavior for a simple transaction that takes 60 seconds. I will never give this UPS location my business again. The customer service here is terrible, and they are rude about it. Scheduling an appointment to get a letter time stamped is a joke. Takes less time than shipping a package, which does not require an appointment.

Excellent customer service. They are always very attentive to my needs. They do everything from shipping to printing and super reliable

If I didn’t send back a million Amazon packages (free Prime returns, woo hoo!) I’d never visit this store. There’s a USPS nearby (52^nd between 8^th and 7^th), so I go there if I need to mail a package that I’m paying for because I’m sure the rates are better. But for the prepaid Amazon packages, this places is fabulous. The store is usually jam-​packed with stuff in teetering piles, so I always get a receipt just in case. However, there’s never a wait and I’ve never had a package go missing.

Terrible UPS Store. They need to train their employees on how to be polite. When my form wasn’t notarized due to the fact that it had the Irish translation of my name on it instead of the English translation, they threatened to kick me out of the store. This is discrimination. I went to a bank nearby instead and my document was notarized without hesitation. Avoid this store at all costs — there are far better options in NYC.

Kinda shady and not very polite. Came here to mail a package with a laptop and other things in it. Guy at the counter insisted that they needed to be shipped in separate containers. They didn’t ask about other shipping preferences or break down the bill. Ended up being about $ 90 to ship two small packages. WAY more than expected.

Very poor experience with an print job submitted online. A supposed 24-​hour turn around took 5 days after they apparently lost the order. I went to pick it up within an hour of receiving an email saying it was ready and none of the staff could find it. I wasted more time than it would have taken to print the order myself. Never again.

Terrible customer service. The guy who attended my boyfriend and I was extremely Rude and unpleasant ! He looked like he just didn’t want to be there at all. Yet, we were very nice to him and he kept giving us attitude when we asked him questions.
Not shipping anything at this location ever again !!!

Strongly recommend avoiding this dishonest, inefficient, unreliable shipping center.
They provided different information on the phone than in person. They tried to charge me much higher pricing than «the cheapest» I requested. Also needed one small piece of tape and they wanted to charge me $ 2.00 for it.
The staff was rude, slow and even unresponsive. They didn’t scan in my last package until I insisted on a receipt. I really wonder whether that package would have been «lost.»
Go to the FedEx center in the Sheraton about a block away. Much much better.

The service is adequate. The location is great and never overcrowded. I have drop off a lot of packages from returns to ship out. My packages has always made it to their destination with no issues. I even used this location to urgently fax document. The store looks small but is extremely functional.

A high value and accordingly extra insured package that was supposed to be shipped overnight never left the location, and is still missing. It was clearly stolen, it never made it to any truck. Probably by one of the two employees that heard me ask for the extra insurance, which was in the thousands.
Obviously do not ship anything of any value there, because the employees have sticky fingers. I will be going to small claims court with this one. I can’t wait to see what they have on their cameras.

Very disappointed. Had the“CERTIFIED UPS PACKING EXPERTS” package up 6 very small pieces of pottery. The box and one item came broken. Did not obviously use the money I paid them for shipping supplies on my mailing. Sent email regarding problem and of course, no response.
Dont ship with this location…
Not responsible for their mistakes, no follow up correspondence and could not even handle a very small mailing.

Fast. Efficient. Open on weekends. Good service.
I live nearby and never had a bad experience returning items or shipping items so far.

If I had the option to give this business zero stars, I would. The UPS store that is closest to me closed so I decided to give this one a try. The store that I was used to going to was great. They would pack my box for me and ship everything, no issues at all.
This location first of all, is an absolute mess. There are boxes stacked high against the left hand side when you come in. My husband and I had something to send that needed to be packed, something that we were used to in the old location. The cashier did not inform us that this wasn’t an option.
After already paying for the shipment, we learned that we would have to pack the box ourselves. No problem, we can do that. Then the cashier informs us that there is no packing in the store and I quote «There is a sign». Mind you, the sign is hidden by the tower of boxes, so how would I have been able to see that. After asking if he could help us out since we were new to this location he just told us again, «No packing in the store.»
This is my last customer service transaction with UPS ever. So disappointed in the level of customer service. Moving onto FedEx.

The truck driver went out of his way to take my package and get it on the truck as he was about to leave. Day made.

After suffering the debacle of W 57^th St store’s closure I must say that Mr. Kaplan (manager?) was very kind to phone me several times. He let me know the status of my incoming mail as it was being transferred from 57^th St to Eighth Avenue and I appreciated that.

Good place to drop off packages, but charged me $ 2.18 for a simple piece of tape to seal my box!

Last Thursday I went to this UPS Store, which incidentally is a complete pig sty, to get two passport photos. I specifically asked for two photos for a UK passport. The guy took the photo’s printed them, I checked them and they looked good and so I paid for them and left.
When I got back to my office I measured them and they were too big, they were US passport sized photos. I called the UPS Store and spoke to a helpful man who said I should come back in and we’ll get them replaced. So far so good.
So yesterday I go to the store with the photos and receipt and explain to the woman working there what happened. She immediately gets on the defensive and tells me that she remembers me coming in and says «we axsk you if you need international photos and you say you di’int»,
I say that I would obviously have said that I do need international sized passport photos because I need them for a UK pasport and that I specificaly asked for photos for a UK passport.
«But I axsk you and you said no».
She’s lying at this point because I didn’t even speak to her, I was being helped by a man. I then explain that I spoke to a manager on the phone and he said to come in and they’ll take the photos again. She tells me she is the manager. She’s lying again.
So I suck it up, get the photos taken because I do need them urgently. I was going to use UPS to send the materials to Washington for my new passport but I went to the post office instead.
I won’t visit this store again.
