SO. HIPSTER. It’s TINY. Be a coffee aficionado if you visit. No bells and whistles — it’s purely concentrated coffee and it’s good! Lost 2 stars for the limited UNCOMFORTABLE seating and that the tables are super tiny work spaces.

Tiny place located near Washington Square/NYU. The coffee(regular and cappuccino) was good, the service was quite friendly and the atmosphere has character. The place is small, but well worth a stop.

Okay coffee shop in Greenwich Village — my americano was bitter(burnt?) and wasn’t anything special. Small space in the shop, but they make good use of it and have a number of tables.

My favorite cup of Café Americana in the Village! They have a really friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and take care and pride in what they serve. Two thumbs up!

I am staying in Greenwich and searched coffee. I have been to Stumptown, Toby Estates, Birch, but Third Rail is at the top of my list. There coffee wasn’t smooth and rich. It didn’t taste very acidic and I think that is why it was so good. Didn’t need any crème or sugar. My wife got a latte which she wouldn’t share and kept a smile on her face. Place is small with seating for 8 but just pick it up and walk around.

Cute and cozy little coffee shop located near NYU. Got a chance to try their latte and it was pretty good but too bad the place was really small so there was nowhere to sit.

By far the best coffee near NYU. Actually I’m an iced tea addict and when I walk in, I barely have to open my mouth before one appears before me. Good pastries as well. Wish it was a tiny bit bigger and offered wifi coz then I wouldn’t have to leave.

Fantastic service from a fantastic team no matter when I come in. And one of the most affordable almond milk mochas in town at $ 5.50! Cash only… good! It’s a small business, avoiding cc fees is great. The space is great too, it’s smaller but they pack in a lot of seating to get off your feet for a few while you enjoy your coffee. Again though, the staff is all great. I’ve never seen a frown on a single persons face, doesn’t matter if it’s before the sunrises on a Monday and we’d all rather be sleeping, or late on a Saturday night when they’d all rather be out with friends. Hard to find a place that commands such natural positive energy from its team.

Yuck. This was my second time here, and both times the coffee tasted burnt and bad. Once was ice coffee, once was hot drip. The redeeming qualities are that the staff is super nice and the plane is small and cute with a nice cozy atmosphere, but they need to step it up with their drip coffee. I haven’t tried anything else, though, so many the espresso is better.

Hangout with my friend. Small but nice coffee shop. The smell of coffee were very good in the shop. I had cappuccino, amazing, I have to order the second cup.

A nice and cozy place to enjoy a great and honest coffee. Nice to sit if you find the place or to grab a cup of Joe on the run. The service was personal and friendly, above and beyond a solid knowledge of the secrets of the coffee beans, the roasting, the grinding and pouring. We were there with a family of five; and we all felt being taken care off. Worth a detour on your travels in NY city.

This place was highly recommended by a barista friend, but I left very disappointed. This seems to be one of those coffee shops with snob employees who believe that knowing a thing or two about coffee, makes them better than anyone else, so don’t even expect anyone to say«hello», or explain anything. I ordered black coffee and a cappuccino at first. Both were decent, but not interesting enough, so I went for one of their New Guinea roasts drip, which looked very promising. Unfortunately for me, the barista girl was too busy flirting with a guy at the counter, while working on my coffee, and I got a weak, watery $ 4 coffee cup. I wanted to buy some coffee to bring home, but left completely disappointed.

Sing with me now(to Amy Winehouse’s «Rehab»): They tried to make me an Americano I said, «no, no, no!» They’d run out of their regular coffee and offered me an Americano at the same price. Despite the barista’s claim that«it’s like coffee.» It’s not the same. A shot of espresso added to hot water doesn’t equate to the same chocolately undertone I usually frequent this place for. The reason why I’ll continue to patronize this place: their use of Counterculture coffee. The same brand OK Café in Astoria uses, so this place is usually my go-to if I fail to pick up my iced coffee before I hop on the train in the morning.

Great drip, great latte. In my own food crawl tradition, it was a double fist experience. Great addition to our spin through Washington Square Park. tip: If you’re getting s PBJ next door, grab it first, then grab your espresso beverage. Or drip. Or both.

A tiny coffee shop spotted across the dumpling store. I tried the iced latte with less ice and this was hilarious; since it was less ice, the cup wasn’t full! It was 75% full. Wow they are exact with the ice! Besides that funny moment, this was a really good iced latte with no sugar. You know when coffee is good when you don’t need to add sugar! It was expensive but very good.

This is one of the cooler cafes I have discovered in Manhattan. Love the vibe here. It’s a very chill for what I expected to be a busy café given its location. Somehow traffic dies down nicely. I came here around 5 pm on a Saturday. Indie rock playing, hipster looking baristas who were actually nice for a change. Love the large windows that bring in ample sunlight. There’s a chapel looking building across the street with a small garden where the street opens up which feels nice. I ordered the almond milk latte which I would put on my top 5 lattes in Manhattan. Wish I had found this place sooner. It sits right behind Boxkite café in my ranking which is also in East Village on 3rd and A. The peanut butter cookie was pretty good but nothing extraordinary. Looking to come chill and hang with amazing latte? This is your joint. Enjoy!

I stopped by during a particularly sleepy high line walk and was pleasantly surprised to find this little hipster haven. The espresso was tasty but I have to say the drip and lattes were pretty weak(did they just not use enough beans or did they underextract?) A perfectly fine place to stop for a break — small area so if you’re traveling in a pack larger than 2 – 3 you probably won’t all fit.

Solid cup of coffee, A+ Usually I write longer reviews, but I don’t need to for this one because everything was perfect. The end. Would not order pastries here though, they’re well made but flavor is off. The coffee here is excellent and that is all I am reviewing

Third Rail NY: Manhattan: SoHo 6:30pm Sunday 28th September 2014 Four Stars This small coffee shop has two sets of benches, 6 mini tables, and some good coffee. I ordered my usual Cappuccino($ 3.75) to stay. They use Stumptown Coffee. It had a strong nutty aroma. The slightly bitter crema sticks to your lips. The ratio fell on the milk heavy side. The vibe was pretty cool — playing the Iconic Space Jam Hit I believe I can fly by R. Kelly followed by songs from Missy Elliot and Beyoncé. You can also see into the bar across the street and watch some Sunday night football. The service was nice and seemed to know their product.
